*UPDATED FOR 1.7.2*
Hey guys :D I redid this tutorial since it was changed in 1.7.2
1) Locate your minecraft directory (Search bar -> %appdata% -> Roaming -> .minecraft)
2) Goto /versions/1.7.2 and open the minecraft.jar file with winrar/7zip
3) Create a folder on your desktop and save every file from your minecraft.jar file in there
4) Delete all the class files, the net folder & the meta-inf folder.
5) [Load Only] Open your previous textures and copy it into the new textures folder (might take a while).
6) You've now got a default resource pack, search other tutorials to learn howto change the resolution and so
Please give this post a diamond if it helped you or ask me questions. Thanks for reading my post :)
I shall see you all! Bye XD

When you've got them, start dragging textures over in the updated default texturepack. I find this as the only way to solve the problem.
