Hey guys,
This is my guide to all of you how to properly recruit members and staff for your server. So lets just dive right into this thing.
Members
People try to recruit members, and they get people to join the server, have 1 good week, then after that, nobody is ever on. HMM... I WONDER WHY. I know this is a tough concept, but content comes first. When I say this, I mean that if you have a shitty server, you may get people to join, but they won't want to come back. So you need to make sure that your server is an enjoyable experience for everyone. When you think that your server is ready to go, invite a few people to test it out, so that you know the content is ready. When you and the testers think that the server is ready, go to the PMC forums, and other forums dedicated to Minecraft, and tell people a SHORT bit about the server. What operating system, if it is hosted, plugins, themes, etc. DO NOT WRITE A BOOK ABOUT YOUR SERVER! Nobody is going to want to read a huge long page about the server, Be sure to include screen shots. Capture the most appealing parts of your server. You can use your forum as a continuous recruiting tool, by bumping it with occasional updates. Do not spam it and be an asshole. Now, as people start to become regulars, ask them to
give you feedback about your server on your forums, and this will further attract other members. This is enough to get you started. When you get big enough, people will find their way to your server.
Staff
I have a pretty strong opinion on recruiting staff, so bear with me. My first rule of recruiting staff is making sure that you can trust the person that you are promoting. Because of this, I highly recommend against an outside hire. Lets refer back to the members post. The point where I was talking about people becoming regulars is the point at which you will find your self NEEDING staff. People will start to be flowing very quickly into your server. Problems will happen, I promise you that, but having the right staff changes everything. So back to the point. You should draw your staff from the regular crowd. Choose those that you see have the greatest leadership potential, and the most trustworthy. So now that you have selected the person, you do not want to simply dump them into a position of power. You want to ease them into it, slowly giving them more responsibility and more tools to do the job. It benefits both parties. You will have a well trained staff member and won't get abused or griefed, and the staff-member-to-be will not be overwhelmed and will be able to efficiently do his job. Congratulations, if you followed these steps, you now have members at your server, and staff to protect them and your server.
So I hope that you hope that this guide helped. I put a lot of effort into this, so if you like it, please diamond and subscribe. As always, I would like to hear your opinion on the subject. Feedback is encouraged, so if this helped you, or if it didn't, I would love to hear why,
Thanks so much! I love my subscribers to death!
