Hey guys, it's Nightlord491 and through my experiences of making money through adfly from my mods and texture packs I'm gonna write a short but sweet tutorial on how I set up my entire system. I'm going to be listing these items in order so be sure to read from top to bottom!
Whew, that was a long tutorial but anyways thanks so much for reading this if you managed to read the entire thing and tell me in the comments or pm or something if I should create my own blog and talk about things like this or stuff related to this. Thanks again guys and if you really want to help support my mods and these blogs click this link http://adf.ly/C3G3E which will only take 5 seconds out of your life and even bring you back to Google.
- Either learn how to mod/code or be a texture pack artist.(This is basically what determines how much income your gonna acquire. I personally think that modders get more money than texture artists for 2 reasons. 1 is because with modding you take your imagination and you can make virtually anything you want to as long as you have the patience and skill. 2 is because you only take texture packs to a certain level before they start to get repetitive and boring. For example, I love Misa's texture pack and the Sphax BDcraft but that's just about it.
- Don't make bad mods/textures. I can't stress this enough. I've been on both the Minecraft Forums and PlanetMinecraft and seen things like Emerald Tools+ or Obsidian Tools etc. etc. It's like, they're not even worth posting. I mean like if you like make yours unique and different from the others MAYBE you'll have a slight chance of success but don't count on it. Textures especially. I absolutely hate it when people just re-texture one block or two and put it up as a texture pack. Basic Idea if More time you spend on your work = More payout you get.
- Find your forum. This is probably one of the most important steps because basically where you present your product is where you'll get all your customers. If you put your mod/texture pack up on some shady mc website that no one goes on your gonna get nothing. I personally like using PlanetMinecraft Better than Minecraft Forums is because on the Minecraft Forums it takes a lot longer to write out a post and you have to add a lot of extra components and put a lot of time into it for it to look even half good. So I would recommend using PlanetMinecraft first and if it attracts a lot of attention then consider putting it up on the Minecraft Forums and even getting someone to help do it for you and give them partial credit.
- Make a blog/website. I personally like using Blogger because of the ease of designing and creating new posts. I mean you could go all out and learn like HTML5 and program a sick website or whatever but that's probably gonna take you more than a year and were aiming for quick high payouts here. Anyways, my method is essentially just copying everything from the forum post and just paste it into your blog post. That's why you should make your forum posts as high quality as you can. For this example we're gonna be using PlanetMinecraft so when you upload a piece you should have the ability to insert a website link instead of just uploading a mod file. So take your blog link and put it in there. So we're gonna do some jumping around here, but keep Step 4 in your mind as we do this next step.
- Adf.ly. Alright your almost there, make a Adf.ly account which should take no less than 2 minutes and you'll be ready to go. You also want to make a mediafire account or any kind of filesharing account. So now you want to upload your mod.zip or texturepack.zip onto your filesharing website then take the link provided and head back over Adf.ly. All you do now is just throw that link you got into the shrink link bar and press shrink. Your super long link should now look something like adf.ly/(random stuff here). Now you take that new shortened link and head back over to your blog/website.
- Putting it all together. Most blogging software or Blogger at least have a hyperlink button. All you do is press that and a small little interface should come up prompting you do put in the link and what name you want it to be displayed as. This is kind of important. You want to make sure you change the display name into something like [1.3.2] Download Link or something like that so it isn't just a bare link but a nice presentable link. Now that everything is all set up you just post your blog up, and post your forum post up, now people should be venturing into your forum post, clicking on the blog link, clicking the download link, going through adfly, and getting their product. While you on the other hand, are just sitting back and watching the money roll in. Just remember More effort in the work = more payout you get.
