Hey guys, so I have been getting a few comments on my rigs on how to setup my rigs. for this entire tutorial I will be using my steve rig
What I will be covering
- Preparing the textures
- Preparing for the first Render
- Pulling meshes into another file
- How to prepare for animation
PREPARING THE TEXTURES
okay, so if you load the rig up it should be either pink or grey, or textured completely. if it is textured then you can skip this section. so lets get started.
1.) unzip the rig file that you downloaded, and put each file into a folder that you will remember. Mine are all in a directory on my C drive. Once that is done open the rig file (.Blend) and pull up the UV image editor.
2.) In the UV editor click the small picture with the dual arrows and select the appropriate picture. There is a tab at the bottom called "image" click it, then a drop down tab opens and there is a option labeled "Replace Image" Click this.
Okay, if the screen has not changed to a "file finder", then sorry but you need to red this again. but that aside. Next locate the picture in the "file finder". select the picture.
Now the UV editor should have appeared again, and a picture with it. now look at the mesh, it should be textured, although if it is grey continue. if it is still pink then PM me for additional help.
4.) So your mesh is grey, this is not a problem. With you cursor in the 3D view port press "N", a tab should have popped up. Now select the category "Shading" and check "textured solid".
Continue to repeat these steps until all textures are no longer grey. The textured solid part should only be done once.
Rest of this Tutorial will be coming soon. this is the part that I have gotten the most questions about.
