Hello everyone! This is Dominique (aka iheartbellatrix) here to talk to you about internetiquette. Internetiquette is a term widely used on the internet. It is, obviously, a few guidelines to get you around the internet without being yelled at or hated on. Most people understand and respect these guidelines, but others don't really even realize that the rules exist! I'm going to explain why it's necessary to follow them.

The Internetiquette Guidelines

The internetiquette guidelines are very simple and easy to follow. As long as you acknowledge them and understand that it is what is expected of you, you should be fine. I'm going to list some simple guidelines that most of the internet's communities know of.

1. Don't start a flame war! Whether you're talking to a ten year old or a twenty year old, you should always remember your manners. Don't cuss at him/her when you're angry, but rather explain the situation to him/her and get it all straightened out. Nobody likes an ALL-CAPS'er!

2. Just because you're behind a computer screen doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. Don't grief someone's pixel art structures on a creative server or steal from other members on a non-faction server. If you don't want your parents or your grandparents seeing you do it, don't do it at all!

3. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all! It's a very hurtful thing to leave hate comments on a YouTube video or cuss someone out on a forum thread. You can get in big trouble for this, so don't try it!

4. Don't spam or use ALL CAPS. Spamming and using ALL CAPS in the Planet Minecraft chat, a gaming server, on YouTube, or any other games/social networks can get you lots of hate. It's really and truly annoying! Nobody likes to see it!

5. Don't be a mini-moderator. There's a difference between helping and being a mini-mod, you know. Mini-modding is going out of your way to constantly point out the rules to everyone. Helping is (politely and vaguely!) pointing out to people when they did something wrong. Be a helper instead!

Why You Should Follow Them

You should follow these guidelines because you will be more liked and respected for it! If you follow these simple rules, you should be good to go. It will be easier to get around the internet and you'll know how to distinguish how you should be acting opposed to how you shouldn't be acting.

The better of a person you become and the more you seem to acknowledge the internetiquette, the more respected and well known you will become. As long as you keep these small corrections in you're mind, you're set!
