I managed to do an interview with the awesome digital artist Sparki Wolf! Check out her PMC profile by clicking here.

So here is the interview:

How did you learn about Minecraft?

I first learned about Minecraft in 2013.  My cousins showed it to me when me and my family went to visit them.  The first edition I ever played was the pocket edition and I still thought it was the best game ever (and I’d never played the PC edition).  About six months later, I purchased the PC edition of Minecraft and I found out that I enjoyed it much more than the pocket edition.

How did you learn the skills to become a digital artists?

I pretty much taught myself.  I’ve never used youtube or ehow tutorials to learn, as I’ve never found them useful to me.  In 2012, I received a graphics tablet and Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 as a gift.  Before that, I had always used the computer mouse to draw.  I tried for about a month to use the tablet and get used to it, but I just didn’t like it.  That’s when I began to get better at using the mouse and have always used it since.

Why did you decide to become a digital artist?

I decided to become a digital artist because when I first tried, I learned that I liked the look of it much more than on paper.  A drawing could look much more “finished” If it was digital.  I started to use the computer for art more and more.  This is about the time that I came up with the name of “Sparki Wolf”.  I had created a character (a wolf) who’s name was Sparky.  One day, while typing her name, I had a typo (Sparki) but I decided to keep it, since it said the same thing but just looked cooler with this new spelling.  I then started using the name of “Sparki Wolf” everywhere, and my little wolf character Sparki, as my mascot.

What digital art are you most proud of?

That’s a hard question to answer.  I have many pieces that I’m very proud of, but I’d have to say that I especially like this one.  I say that because it’s the best job I’ve ever done with shading and lighting, and I also just like the subject matter.  That’s Sparki, my mascot.

What part of being a digital artist do you like the most?

One word: Undo.  The undo button is my biggest friend in the world of digital art.  Accidentally make a line too thick?  Undo.  Accidentally make the entire image blue?  Undo.  The undo button is an artist girl’s best friend.  Also, I like how, unlike traditional mediums, there is an infinite number of supplies and tools.  For instance: In traditional medium, you could run out of black paint, whereas in digital art, that’s impossible.

Thanks for that interview!
