Ok, this goes of the topic of my rage of the week, and frankly, im probably gonna stop that now, too much effort.
Now, onto the topic of the blog. Its come to my attention that the whole Kony/InvisibleChildren thing has resurfaced, and seeing as i didn't do a blog on it last time, i may aswell jump the gun in case it surfaces again.
In case your were, say, asleep for the last few months, then you probably dont know what KONY2012 is, so ill quickly fill you in. KONY2012 was a campaign to take down a man by the name of Joseph Kony. This man leads a group known as the LRA (Lords Resistance Army). This group has a notorious reputation for kidnapping children and using them as soldiers, as well as sexually abusing them. This of course is despicable, and that the campaign must be good if its aimed at him right? Wrong? And i will tell you why.
Invisible children first came under fire little under a few hours after their video came out. Allegations arose relating to a multitude of things, mostly their financial credibility. The first thing that cropped up was that they barely gave any money to their desired causes. A measly 30%. Charities like the American Red Cross donate upwards of 90% of funds. The next thing that arose was that one of their desired causes. The Ugandan Army. You see, Invisible Children support direct military intervention to take Kony out. This is NOT a good idea. America has a track record of getting bogged down in wars it dosent need to be involved in. Afghanistan. Iraq. Vietnam. Sending troops into Uganda would inevitably end up with the American army bogged down here to. But this is distracting from the point. They fund the Ugandan Army. This army has a track record of rape, murder, and all sorts. Are these really the people to support. I think not.
Recently, this video was shown in Uganda, in one of the areas previously affected until Kony was forced from there. Before the video was even over violence had broken out. One viewer compared the event to selling Bin Laden paraphernalia in America right after 9/11.
So, by all means, be against Joseph Kony, but dont fund Invisible Children. Unless you support killing of innocents.

"America has a track record of getting bogged down in wars it dosent need to be involved in. Afghanistan. Iraq. Vietnam."
Of course you would say that about Vietnam, since it was a failure, but the people back then had no way of knowing what the NVA was capable of.
I also disagree about saying that for Iraq. Thanks to the conflict over there, they are a free country, one of the only two in the middle east.
