I found a friend for you http://www.planetminecraft.com/member/MonkeyMoney101 It just so happened that I came across him while chatting with some of the other moderators and his name came up in a screenshot one of them had.

NOTE, all the mods are UNPAID volunteers, PMC has no source of income (besides the swaggy new store)

Nah. Just that there's ONE PARTICULAR MOD here that helped write the rules that I do NOT want to deal with (won't name; that's blacklisting) plus I don't want the responsibility. That's why I was never a mod/admin/staff member on a server.

I always wanted to be a part of PMC staff, then again I wouldn't because I always protest about certain rules that they have under requirement when being a member of the community.
The only reason I would ever want to be a moderator would be to help take care of rule breakers and maybe lighten the loads of other moderators, but I would do a horrible job of it because a., I have a very difficult time making decisions, b., there are enough problems in my life to take care of, and c., I am already very self conscious and I would not benefit from the publicity it might afford me. I'm just happy to stay in my obscure little corner without any high expectations to live up to.

So baiscally what this says is if you actually have a LIFE then you probably wouldn't do a very good job at being staff here. This applys for servers too xD! I myself get on only on the weekends and even then rarely b/c of parties, school, girlfriend, football, and my job :p! You made a good decision, unless your a nerd and this is your life then you just missed an amazing opportunity..

That's why I would have trouble as well. I only look around the site for like 5 minutes about 6 times a day. I rather be hanging out with my friends and doing other stuff.

Nice blog, you made some very good points. I agree totally. Though I've never moderated a website before, I know what moderating on a server is like. You do have to spend quite a bit of time making sure people behave, especially during the busy parts of the day. It's not an easy job and it's very time consuming if you want to do a good job and you're enthusiastic about it.
If I were to be chosen as a moderator on pmc I would be honored, but then again I don't know if I could handle the responsibility, since pmc is a big community and all. But then again I do enjoy helping people so it would be something I would enjoy which I guess would make the job easier. As well as I wouldn't be alone. I'd have other moderators to help me out.

If you feel like you're doing a lot of "babysitting" you're probably doing it wrong. While, yes, I do moderate a lot, I also take the time to participate in the community.
and for the sexeh times

saying "you will most likely not be picked" is very untrue, users are in control of whether or not they get noticed by pmc staff when new staff is needed, as you say, they dont just pick random names out of a hat, they pick people who are active, helpful, and are willing to actually moderate

4-6 hours might be too much. If you're spending 4-6 hours even on the computer everyday, your grades will plunge rapidly and your eyes will be very sore (Trust me, it's happened to me before). Maybe half an hour to two hours is reasonable for the average moderator.

For about 3 years I've spent 12+ hours of most of my free days on my PC - 3/4 of those at least are something to with PMC; be that answering PMs, talking to mods or just moderating. If anything, this excessive amount of time on my PC over the past 3 years have helped me immensely. My grades 4 years ago were semi-average: I had C's/B's in most subjects that I tried in. However, since 3 years ago, I've had straight A's/A*'s. My English has improved greatly and my research on the Internet about science has helped me a lot, too.

I'm not sure if this is just me as I've heard a lot of stories of people doing badly because of the Internet, but I do believe that the Internet, used correctly and with caution, is a benefit to one's education - not a burden.

Well ever since I got a computer, my maths went from 75% to 50%, my English went from 100% to 75% and my Writing went from 96% to 88%.

4-6h? I don't think being a moderator means you have to spend all your internet-time on pmc, as long as you're helpful and you're checking into pmc every once in a while to do some modding you'll be fine. You really don't have to be sitting in front of Pmc all day in order to do a good job.

If I was ever offered to be staff, I would have refused. I don't handle well with responsiblities! xD
