Level 78 : Legendary War Lord
Hello, everyone!

I've used the internet for quite a long time now. Surfing around, learning stuff, publishing stuff, earning money actually, and there's something I see to many times each day, which I hate. I get a lot of comments and I also surf through different threads/replies/other everyday, noticing this horribleness.

The problem is that people seem to love the art of not typing correctly. This is a problem for me, you, and it's actually a problem for the author, too (I'll get back to this).

Here's a few examples:

"I luvz to use z, cuz itz awzzum"

People seem to have some sort of sexual thing for using "z" instead of "s", and also use it when there's not really anything that indicates a z-sound/s-sound.

"aw, cmon. i only right like tis cuz im lazy
how im supos 2 now how to right good stuff
you r a idiot!! y u say that i cant right good!!!11!"

Sometimes, people just don't care to even correct themselves or write the full word, and replace for ex. "are" with "r" or "why" with "y". Also, people seem to hate the comma, period or using capital letters. This makes the text so heavy and you get tired, just by reading some of it.

Writing with caps lock on/in only capital letters will not make your text easier to read, and the readers can quickly get confused and find it hard to locate where they left off.

"Yo, Dude! I Just Love To Use Big Capital Letters In Front Of Ever Single Word I Type. It Makes My Writing Prettier And I Dont Know Why People Dont Do This. I Cant Really See Anything Wrong With Taking More Time To Hit SHIFT, Every Time I Start A New Word.

Seriously. This is just a waste of time. Your text looks just horrible and not even close to good. This just takes more time. Use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence, every time you write "I" or name/title.

So, why is this a problem?

Well, first of all. This is a problem for me and you, because the message the creator is trying to give us, hides behind a blurriness of bad writing. We see this writing and we get tired, frustrated, angry and maybe leave instead of finishing reading.

Second of all, this is a problem for the author, because he/she just lost two viewers who could have interested themselves in the authors work. The readers who stay and handle the bad writing, will still, most likely, create a bad image of this author in their heads. If the author had written a good text that looked nice, is easy and interesting to read, and contains a richer vocabulary, then people would most likely have received a good impression of the author .

There's no negativity with writing a good text. The purpose of writing a text is to deliver a message. The author is the source and the reader is the receiver. The message is codified by the author and then decodified by the receiver. If the message is codified in a way that makes it harder for the receiver to decodify the message, it will create a interference. The interference is the bad writing. Maybe this text is hard to understand, but that just sets an example on interference.

So what can the author do to deliver the message without interference?

The answer is simple. Write a good text without typos/bad structure. Is it that easy? No. It takes time before you can write good text. It takes a lot practice, actually. If you're not English/American and especially, if you don't take English classes in school, this will be very hard and take more time.

Why should you do it? Well, because of the very reasons I listed above. People will get your message without interference, and interference is bad.

Some tips on how to improve:
  • Try to be a good writer.
  • Use Google Chrome and turn on English spell check (works like Microsoft Word).
  • Read English texts/books more often.
  • Wish for improvement. Set some vague goals.

Will this work?

For this doubt, I'd like you to ask yourself one question. Do you think I'm English/American?

My first language is Norwegian, so saying that English isn't your first language isn't a limit for you to write properly, but I don't know how your education system is back in Russia, and I would guess English classes aren't that common, so you are always excused, but I want you to at least try to write as proper as you can. That would benefit you in the end.

I saw the picture and first I thought is, you are German (because "Bildung" a German word ;) )
Than I saw the caption stating "building*"...
And your question asked in the end, I think you are using the English language as main language :)
(I am sorry for bad English ^,^)

Mmm, very nice and informative blog.
I don't like when people use bad grammar, or try to replace words with one letter.
That isn't how English is spoken.
It isn't how English is written.
So why should that be the way it is typed?
This is so true. I see people who can't spell at all everywhere, and they never use proper grammar or capitalization either. It's funny, because I can never understand what they're saying. Example: "hey dan check out that wierd hose i wonder wats inside", and then, one time, one of my friends even asked "dan y do u type like that non of us can undrstand what your saying".
It annoys me, but that's actually kinda how I take notes. I just take out all the vowels out of the obvious words. Blame it on the governments of the world for requiring kids to take exams. Stupid people. Getting students in the bad habit of simplifying words in an un-understandable way while taking notes. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. >:<

Agreed this annoys me all the time diamond for you
I don't understand why it bothers people so much. I mean like, the incorrect use of "your" and "you're" sometimes bothers me, but still. I will write decent if people really fuss over it. I usually skip a few letters when I'm typing in-game, just because I don't want to sit there for 10 hours typing. What I really don't like, is how almost ALL the girls I meet on minecraft, are the same. I feel like a wildcard. Like... "hai, wutz up? :3 <3? heard im a girl? ^_^?" Yeah, so is my mom, my sister, my grandmother, and my aunt. So I guess I can see a point here. I guess we all have our own little problems. :-p

Yeah good, very good article. I don't know why people choose to write like that, but it may very well be possible that those people don't even know better. Back in the day's when I was learning English at school, spelling and grammar was a large topic. Don't they teach that in schools anymore, or is it just considered "cool" to write like an idiot? You decide... Anyway, 77th diamond! ^^
I............TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! I can't take all of the stupid spellings! It's SOOOO hard to read:

"Woaw, des es sow awzum I gev a daimon!", "Dood! yoo rx! Des iz sooooow kooowl!!!! luv et! daimon fer yoo!", AND, "Woawzeerzz! Soooowww koowl! I wove dis! Et dezevs da daimon!"!!!!

I've had the cruddy text in my comments before and I hate it. It's so hard to read it. I spent about--2 or 3 minutes trying to understand what the writer was trying to say. It doesn't sound like alot, but compared to how long it takes to read the same amount of text that has GOOD writing and grammar, it's alot of time! I hate how hard it is to read a single comment with cruddy grammar from people cause they really don't make themselves clear with their grammar and spelling. I agree with this!

-Squishy <3
P.S. 75th diamond!
I agree too. That non-sense text you just posted is VERY hard to read. When someone says "y" to me,I feel like shutting up that person.

-Squishy <3
I sometimes write with capitals at the start of every word. I do this is since I have Dyslexia and it means my brain can distinguish the start of the word alot easier and quicker.
This is a very good thing to say because It is annoying when people on the internet spell stuff too quickly then don't check it and it makes no sense like:
"I don't lkei anoyying pepleo."
When it should be:
"I don't like annoying people."

I have to agree completely. I was born a French child, and have always spoken French. When I has eight was when I would say I had completely understood English, and think it is very bad how I find myself correcting others on their English, when they have spoken it all their life. I will admit I sometimes need to ask what a word means, for instance, "contraband". This is one of the more recent words I hadn't learned before, but luckily now know. I also agree on how you say that using poor grammar and spelling when first meeting someone does create a bad impression for yourself. It is a fact that subconsciously you judge people within the first five seconds after meeting them, if it be by appearance, age, intelligence, etc. This could cause many other social issues, since people would think you are unintelligent, and aren't worth talking to. All of this could easily be prevented if they had just typed correctly.
I totally agree with you. I prefer to type like an intelligent individual than to type like a caveman. I get angered when I accidentally put "your" instead of "you're" and sometimes I accidentally write Like This For usually only three words and then I realize the mistake I made. Also I would prefer you put "waste of your time" instead of "waster of time" the less intelligent users will get confused.

I must say my dear poster, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Unfortunatly, it seems that the general populace of internets is illiterate or had some troll mix up their keyboard keys. I say all the intelligent internets need to form a coalition of smartness, good spelling, grammar, and a fair bit of arrogance besides!

Just saying that if you want to translate something, dont translate whole sentences, just single words. Otherwise the text will usually be completely wrong :P

I completely agree with you, so diamond :)
Ok, everything is true in this blog in my opinion apart from this thing. You say to always capitalise your words when starting sentences, however, in my opinion, I don't have a problem with it. I can easily read a post like that without difficulty. Just stating my opinion though, my opinion probably does not count for much in this case though

could you make a blog about people harassing other people in pms and criticizing their work? im done with people always ranting on people's creations when they probably couldn't even do half as good... for example: there is a kid named crippled assassin that has been ranting on everything of mine and sending me rude and annoying private messages just because he doesn't like one of my maps... its really pissing me off... i just want to reach through my screen and shoot him in the face.... id love for him to stop, but he thinks he is so damn awesome and he wont shut the fuck up...
I recommend reading this blog and applying it to your future typing.

Report to admins, if you want something to be done. If this guy isn't breaking any rules, then sadly, you have no other options than either ignore it or sink at his level and take revenge.

I won't attack people like that. I won't focus on one person when I rant. A such discussing should be private between the persons who are involved.
