Ok, so ive watched the video, ive watched reviews of the video, and ive done some reading.
People say "youre not actually supporting the cause, why like the video now and support it when you didnt like 1 day ago or a month ago?"

And the reason why not? its cause we didnt know about it then. Now that we do, everyone supports it.

ANYWAYS:
So first off, i would like to say im utterly against what Joseph Kony is doing, has done, or will be doing. He should be brought to justice. However, i am against the organization, Invisible Children, and how they plan on finding and fighting Kony.

To fight a battle, you need money. As it turns out, only 1/3 of the money you raise goes towards the movement. The rest is for paying salaries and non direct movement related costs (equipment, etc.). Secondly, the money that DOES go towards fighting Kony actually is pooled into the Sudan People`s Liberation Army (SPLA) and the Uganda Government (with some into building schools, but arming an army is FAR more costly) which both have accusations of looting, rape, and general corruption.

Now you might think: Have one corrupt army fight another? THATS AWESOME!
No. its not. Because youre funding one of the armies, so whichever army is victorious (most likely yours cause the world is funding it) will basically be a corrupt, super funded army. Now, im not saying that the people arent trying to remove the corruption, im just saying that they are at this moment, corrupt. Who knows, by the end of this they may have solved that problem.

My next bone to pick with the organization is that Kony has been reported inactive for 6 years. Meaning, he isnt recruiting, he isnt attacking in large raids, etc. He is just sitting idly (like not moving the army around) in hiding. Now with the video and increased interest, he will (seriously, this guy is smart if he can pull off what he has done so far, but he is using his intellect for evil) begin to move again and recruit to prepare, rendering any previous efforts useless and making future efforts all the harder. Kony will be on the move again to protect himself. Youre only going to make him kill more.

Lastly, my BIGGEST point, is that Invisible Children is supporting direct military action. Meaning, a huge sweep of the country, and an all out war. Guess what? When Kony sees soldiers out to shoot him in the face, he will send his child army to shoot them. And the SPLA wont be too happy about that, so with their superior training, the kill the kid. And this will happen more and more as they get closer to Kony. They will have to fight all 30, 000 children. Of course, people are fleeing from Kony, but not enough. The kids dont want to fight, but fear is a powerful tool. Any people who cannot or has not yet fled from Kony will be sent out to kill, and in turn be killed.

Youre trying to save the kids, but really, youre trying to save the kids not yet influenced by Kony. The rest will have to die.
Di
rect Military Action IS NOT the way to go. Youll be killing children forced in the army, funding another corrupt army, and forcing Kony to recruit MORE to make up for his losses. That means more killing, more recruitment, and more funding until its
escalated
to an all out war. Kony wont hold back, he will force his entire army to dust before he gives himself over now that his option of feigning peace is out.

Like i said earlier, the cause is great, the solution not so much.
You dont fight fire with fire.
Choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil.

TL:DR?

2/3 of the money you raise to Invisible Children goes to salaries. 1/3 goes to funding direct military action using the Sudan People`s Liberation Army as the main force. That army and the government youre funding is currently considered corrupt.

Kony will react to the military force and begin to recruit more, and send his army to fight. This means youre killing the children. All of them. You dont fight fire with fire, which is what this organization is trying to do.

AHEM: UPDATE:

turns out, the leader of Invisible Children, Jason Russel, was arrested for some.. uh... strange acts on the streets...

Sets out to arrest Kony. Gets arrested in a month. Invisible Children: 0, Me: 1

I find it offensie to all of us who have been suporting this cause for oh.. I don't know, 30 years!! It has just become a fad now, and it is stupid. I passed a couple of kids the other day, and one said "Have you heard about Kony 2012?" when the other said no everyone around him said WOW.... like if you don't know about Kony, you're not cool... So I have a question to ask you now.. why didn't you support it 10 years ago? And the answer always is, "I didn't know about it...." Well I have one thing to say to that, shame on you!

Well 10 years ago i was in grade 1... so i doubt i would really even understand it
so if you knew about it 30 years ago, good job, want a cookie? what have you done with that knowledge?

As for what your comment says, i utterly support the movement against Kony but i DO NOT support the Invisible Children because their method is to barrel in guns blazing.

as well, there is no news on Kony around 10 years ago. Even with search engines, radio, television, the internet had no idea about it. So what sources did people have to find out? Certainly not the news, nobody was talking about it.

Im going to ask you, do you know about the man Thich Quang Duc? No? i wonder why? because he is not mentioned ANYWHERE

Agreed. Invisible Children are corrupt and just pocket the money, but Kony does need to be stopped~
