Okay. Hi. My first blog so expect some errors here and there, but hey, we're all hewman.

I'll start off with a little intro on the event that has befallen me and why I think it was unfair, and hopefully shed some light on topics similar to this for any server owners reading, so I can help some other poor fellow who has to deal with the wrath of a higher staff who has judged the lower as responsible for a mess up.

Recently I joined a server in the role of a trial mod, for those of you not accustomed to the roles within a server, consider a trial mod somewhere between a helper/trainee and a small monkey that entertains itself by slamming it's boredom ravaged brain against a entire creative inventory it has to use to impress the owner.

The night before the incident was very regular. I have admittedly been out of a staff rank for quite a while as most recruiters decide the best method of staff enlistment consists of picking the first posters and leaving those that tire endlessly on their appeals for staff until the very end, abruptly resulting in them never getting the rank they deserve.

Now, I don't like to rant (lies) but the first thing I had to deal with when I joined the server was a terrible permissions setup that restricted non OP personnel from speaking This meant as I stood dumbfounded in this seemingly charming spawn area with what would later be my superior barking one thousand questions at me as I stood unable to even muster a reply. I logged out as if I couldn't reply my point in being there was null. After some time the server owner explained to the admin that I was a future staff member, so treat me with a little more respect.

The day resulting day was actually really pleasant as we started adding to the spawn, made some nearby houses, joked and messed around with powertools and helped each other out. The day ended with each of our nicknames changed to something hilarious to which we'd laugh at the next day. I logged in the next day and reset my name, a smile on my face.

The owner, on console greeted me cheerily as I started making a couple of little huts on a cliff. My sloppy World editing resulted in a cliff that looked like large dollop of cake fixed to block of cement. He asked if I wanted some company so I said sure and he logged in, as did his rather friend.

This is where it all broke loose.

As I scrolled through the creative inventory looking for the door section (since when was a door made of redstone) so came the statement ''you... griefed''. You can imagine my horror, a complimentary ''lolno'' and a joking spin in the air led to more rage from the accuser. I'm pretty sure a few block shape beads of sweat fell from my forehead at that moment as a grimaced and stared towards what would soon become the hammer of ban. My mindset was split between searching for the wood door and hoping he would see I was not the griefer and bailing out which would result in a indefinite ban, or I could try explaining myself, which had never really worked in the past. ''I never griefed!?'' I explained, a sandstone slab slipping from my fingerless hands, to which the painful ''You are no longer Op!'' message slapped me across the face. Well done there Cappy, you tookaway my ability to speak and judged me without evidence. Want a treat?

Okay, let's go back and look at what could have been done to prevent such a incorrect judgement. First, the server had no anti grief plugin. No method of proving it was me. I was being judged for being online. I bet he wouldn't have given any consideration if I was a regular player or a admin, because I was new he judged me.

Second. We take a look at permissions interface they had designed, non ops could not speak. This meant that the moment he typed the /deop command my ingame vocal cords probably slid through the air faster than a laggy squid on a factions server. Giving me no ability to talk meant he had no doubts about his clearly flawed opinion.

Finally. He judged me because I was online. If a guy logs onto your server called ''ILOVEGREEFING101'' you are going to judge him as a griefer. His name says it all. I'm not saying don't think this way, but when the guy is a well spoken trail mod/creative monkey/ban assistant and has no motive whatsoever to do anything to damage your server, take in the evidence and use it. Judging people because they are new, or because they are inexperienced will get you nowhere. I've come close to being banned twice for misunderstandings, and it ain't fun. Ruins a server atmosphere for a player, so staff, take that into account. I was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and they punished me for it.

And so, there you have it. There's my little article/story (Starticle?) on judgement, judging, banning, monkeys and staff ranks. Have a nice day and think before you use that hammer. Thanks for reading.

Not saying, though I appreciate your interest :) I respect the opinion of the staff, even though it was 100% wrong. Plus it's whitelisted, thanks for reading though.
