LONE WOLF

Chapter 1   HARDLY THERE

There I was laying in the tall grass, listening to my favorite music after a long day of unpacking from our move. I finally got to understand how hard it would be making friends again and fitting in at school. I hated moving so much. In fact this was our 6th time. We always lost so much in the move: friends, and family. His name was Tim, I loved him so much. He was only 5 when it happened. . . . My mother still cries every night. I try to comfort her but it never works.

Every time we move I have the same nightmare over and over again. Each time in the nightmare:

I see a hand covered in blood, reaching out from under a car asking for my help. It calls my name . . . . Anne Please . . . Then it starts crying, then laughing, then screaming a wretched scream. It lunges at me. Tears my hand, and pulls me under the car. Complete darkness, I'm so terrified. My eyes widen and I see what I should not have seen.

My mom calls me from inside the house. I sit up, take my ear plugs out of my ears. Then I stand up and start walking to our new home. Fresh spring air blows though my long silver hair. Our house is covered with vines here and there. It's also surrounded by a giant beautiful forest with purple, blue and yellow flowers at the path. The path went from our house to the market, then into the town if you keep going. On my way to the house something in the corner of my blue eyes get my attention. There was a swift movement in the bushes. I walked a little bit closer. I saw bright yellow and green eyes looking back at me. A Wolf? I said to myself. Then it ran away.

My mom called me from the house again. So I started running. My mother was not the patient type. Once I got to the house my mother looked at me, then handed me a big basket that was empty and said, "I need you to go to the market and get me these things with your sister." She handed me a list that read: Apples, Oats, Flour, Sugar, Butter, Cinnamon and Nutmeg. The moment I read the list I knew who was coming back . . .
