The second Minecraft 1.17 Cave and Cliifs update snapshot 20w46a gives us a new powered snow block that causes entities to freeze overtime.
Powdered snow is a new trap block that causes entities to sink into it when they walk over it and they will slowly start to freeze overtime. Powered snow can be picked up and placed with a bucket and cauldrons will fill up with powered snow when they’re left out in snow.
Wearing leather boots prevents players from sinking into powered snow and the more leather players wear the more immune they become to the freezing affect. The more leather a player wears the slower they freeze and wearing complete leather armour prevents freezing completely.
snaEntities will slowing begin to freeze when they stand in powered snow. One entities are frozen they will begin to take freeze damage.
