So as I'm sure everyone has heard by now, Minecraft is updating their EULA (End User Licence Agreement). Everyone aggrees to this when you buy your Minercraft account.

What does this new EULA do?

Well, it restricts servers from charging real miney for game changing perks. That means that basically, you can't buy a useful rank anymore :(

There are loopholes (such as real money for points on forums, points to ingame items) but Mojang will most likely get rid of that too, again :(

Does this affect all servers?

Yes, and if they don't comply, Mojang will shut them down.

How will this affect servers?

In my personal opinion, if will cut a lot of servers off at the knees. Many servers depend on donations to pay for hosting fees. No money from ranks means no money to pay the hosting clients. I feel it won't give servers the required funds they need to expand. A server that depended on donations to pay staff members? This could be big trouble for them.

Can people still donate?

Yes! That's the good part. if people feel it in the goodness of their hearts to donate, they still can.

Can donors recieve anything?

Yes, donators can purchase cosmetic items for ingame. Such as, a pet, colored chat, particle afects, and so on. Just as long as they don't recieve any ingame item/perk that would be "game changing"

Want to stop the EULA change?

Well you're in luck, there is a petition to change it
