Hello Diamond Miners, and welcome to DiamondBlog…the show that may become the new Game Theory. If not for it being on Planet Minecraft.

So today’s blog is all about my thoughts on how a better future can be made just by playing video games. I’ve looked over academic plusses in a previous blog, but I felt it didn’t give me the satisfaction of proving why Minecraft, or any game, is actually a good way to become that smart, athletic, surrounde-by-babes kind of guy. I hope that this blog will clear everything up.

Lose the Fat…Play Minecraft!

What’s that you say? Playing Minecraft can’t possibly be a way to lose weight? Well you’re only mostly right. It’s a proven thing that if you aren’t active you aren’t going to be that nice weight you want; however, in my experiences you can theoretically lose weight while playing videos (warning these ideas are not very tasteful, I’d almost go so far as saying they are DISTASTEFUL).

The main thing that stands out when I’m talking about weight loss and Minecraft is ACCIDENTAL ANOREXIA. At the M.I.M.I (Minecraft Insitute of Made-up Information), accidental anorexia is defined as not eating food, because you either a. forgot about eating, or b. aren’t hungry. According to recent studies when someone is distracted, they won’t be hungry. The moment you show the test subject any glimpse of food, or even say food…the subject gets hungry. In that last sentence there is a very high chance that 4/5 people reading this blog, suddenly became very hungry. Essentially, what I’m saying is that if you are playing Minecraft you get distracted, distraction = lack of hunger; therefore, you don’t eat food, thus causing less weight gain.

Well writing that explanation I noticed that I used a wrong term. I said weight loss. Based on my argument a slightly more correct term would be subtraction of weight gain, because really, you aren’t gaining weight, neither are you losing it.

Problem Solving Skills Increase

There are countless numbers of games that are actually based upon problem solving. A few that come off hand for me is Portal and B-Cubed (yes, I’m referencing a cool math game). These are just a tip of the iceberg. So many games are action-based that also sneak problem solving in there.

Let’s take Minecraft for example. Your job is to survive in a world where there are countless things out to kill you and you have no means of living. Mainly, this is a game about survival, but guess what the largest puzzle in this game is…survival itself. The only way to survive is by problem solving. You have to figure out how to get food, the best spot to build your house, etc. Without these skills you would die.

Teaches Children to be Social

Originally I put kids instead of Children in that heading, but I doubt baby goats are playing video games. Anyway, video games nowadays are basing themselves solely on multiplayer. Of course, I’m not going to include Call of Duty, because that’s just a bunch of children swearing, but other that it’s open plane.

Multiplayer games are meant encourage children to not only problem solve, but learn how to problem solve with other people. Minecraft is a good example. If I join a server and someone meets me –that doesn’t want to kill me- I am going to start an amazing adventure with him. Generally I will tell him to do something, i.e. cut would, while I do something else, i.e. hunt for food. This is problem solving. We are making a plan to survive together. Plus we get a pretty cool friendship out of it. I must say that I am not appalled, nor unhappy about this outcome.

Alright guys that’s all I have for today. Please comment your opinions on what you think. Disprove to me that Minecraft can be a healthy and educational activity. Other than that don’t forget to check out my facebook, twitter, and profile page.

"According to recent studies when someone is distracted, they won’t be hungry."

Ok... Let's get some things straight here...
When you are writing scientifically such as in a report, you need to be more specific than "According to recent studies"...
Medically, Anorexia is a disorder! It's not a good thing to NOT EAT because you're "too busy" with Minecraft...
Having said that, Minecraft, like any other form of gaming or media, should be enjoyed in MODERATION. Overuse or addiction to these leisurely activities is not healthy.
The only plausible statement in this blog is that, Yes, Minecraft is indeed beneficial to your brain. Small-scale problem-solving and creativity sparking subjects are involved in this game...
Thanks. Good idea though...

Are you kidding me? Any game can be healthy or not healty, it just depends on the player and whether or not that person has self-control. This blog is stupid.

Im sorry... what? "Accidental Anorexia" Anorexia is a disease where a person has a immoderate food restriction and irrational fear of gaining weight. This could offend alot of people that have it due to it beign a mental disorder, not just "Being Distracted"

The people who get offended by this need to get a real taste of reality and accept that they will get offended someday. And I don't care if they get offended because they need to strap on a pair of balls and deal with it.

Let's tell those anorexics to "strap on a pair of balls"

You waste of a human being.

Even the people that have been through all this for years and had hundreds of hours of help to deal with it. By the sounds of it you have never experience anything hard through your life at all. I can't say for sure that you have had a easy ride but by the sounds of it. You have had an easy life. Think about it.

Very true. The accidental anorexia thing made me laugh, but it's probably not a good thing... That said, I think that it still is possible to play minecraft too much. Now, before you execute me for treason or something, let me explain. I'm not saying that minecraft is inherently bad in any way. However, if you play ANY GAME, regaurdless of how mentally stimulating, for too long, without doing much else, you can become obsessed with it. Game addiction. It almost happened to me once. I don't play minecraft quite as often as I used to, to be honest...

Yes, all your arguments are valid. This blog was meant to show something good Minecraft can give you. There is a slight disclaimer that too much of anything is bad for you. I believe that's a common sense thing.

Good blog, diamond + an extra sub for you! also though, you misspelled wood, and i would like to mention something else. Math. We all hate it, but come on. You need math for gathering enough materials to make a pickaxe, or build a house, etc.
