Why hello there! I didn't see you walk in! Well since your here I might as well share some of my humble knowledge!

Well what I'd like to explain are the tips you should follow to have solid skin creation! Now, some of you may ask:

Gee, what is skin creation? Is it different from actually making a skin?

Why yes, yes it is!

Skin creation is the process you take to make your skin, such as the idea, tools, and timeframe!
Anyway I would like to share some tips in making skin creation the most beneficial it can be to your final product!

Tip 1: Make your skin interesting to you, but also others!

When thinking of a skin idea, it's always important to make sure that you like the skin! Having a skin you are interested in makes creating the skin much more enjoyable! However if you plan to share said skin on a site such as, oh I don't know, PLANET MINECRAFT, make sure that it is a skin that others will be interested in. Try to think of it like this, "Will people want to look like this character?". For example, if you make a skin of an obscure member of a band that isn't very well known (HIPSTERS BEWARE) people may not find it as interesting as you. Now if you make a skin of a knight or a an astronaut or maybe a supernatural creature, THAT may fetch some more views, dowloads, and feedback in general. Once again, don't feel like your just making skins to please people, make sure you like the skin!

Tip 2: Take inspiration, but don't lose originality!

Once in a while, you may find yourself in a block (a SKINNER'S block, if you will). You may not be able to think of a skin that's interesting to you, or a skin that may be interesting to others. This is when you would look around for inspiration! Look up pictures of videogame characters! Look up generic terms like "mech" or "monster"! Anything to get the inspirational juices flowing! However, try to retain originality when doing this. Try not to end up doing something such as recoloring a skin, or copying one all together. Try to take the idea you've been inspired by and make something of your own out of it!

Tip 3: EFFORT!!!!!

I feel that this is needless to say, but mentioning this seems important; I'll make it short and sweet. When you have a skin idea and you are in the process of making the skin, PUT EFFORT INTO IT!!! No one wants to download some slipshod 5 minute skin, they want detail and a skin that looks like time was taken to make it! Speaking of time...

Tip 4: The timeframe is not an issue

For some people, the idea of making a skin with -gasp- EFFORT may seem time consuming. And in a way that's ok! Time is never an issue when creating a skin, you have all the time in the world to be able to perfect the idea of the skin, of course MAKE it, and share it! Now in the case of an event where posting the skin is in a set timeframe, such as a PMC Skin Contest, it's just a matter of simple time management! Make sure you get done what you need done, and leave time to make sure that your skin - as well as the idea - is a masterpiece!

Tip 5: Changes are ok!

Say you're at the point where you've posted the skin wherever you wish, and you notice something you feel should be fixed. Don't worry! The changes can, and often should, be made! If the change you wish to make looks good once you try out the change, keep it! It's beneficial for the skin, and how you make skins in the future! If the change you wish to make doesn't look good once you make it, don't change it! At least you took the time to make sure whether the change was a good one or not, that helps you visualize more clearly how the skin you've made should look!

Now, these are all from my experiences, but I just felt that sharing my experiences in trying to go through the process of skin creation in 5 condensed tips would be beneficial to those starting into making skins!

I definitely agree with all of this, especially the effort part. Posting multiple crappy or unoriginal skins is NOT going to get you farther than posting good quality ones every few days!
