INTRODUCTION:
I don't know about you, but the repetition of minecraft's increasing complications that come at us with each update, are becoming a little too much for me.
I started minecraft a few years ago- at 1.5. -( the old one), I lived the simple life of killing animals with no need for food and hunger retribution. There were no potions, enchanting tables, brewing pots, hunger bars, story lines, bosses, supernatural items(Like fire charges, ender eyes), and of course there was no inappropriate, visual animal sex.
COMPLAINTS?
So I don't want to hate on jeb, but I would seriously like to ask him what he believes minecraft is about. For me it's the essence of a sand-box game with infinite building possibility. And as an old (by that I mean not entirely new) player of minecraft, I don't like the continuous updates that include more and more 'intriguing' and 'complicated' aspects to the game.
Maybe you like it all, but here are a few specific things that I would rather not exist (or atleast be easier to use):
1. Strange block placement. While playing the 1.3 update, I began to build a house in creative. As I was building the stairs in the back, I couldn't help but notice the blocks were all... upside down. So, like all minecraftererses (errrm, no), I deleted it and tried to place it down again... Same problem.
After some researching, and then a session of face palming, I discovered that blocks such as stairs only place down normally when placed on the bottom half of a block.
Great...
This wasn't just stairs, it was trees, wood colours (Yes, I spell it with a "U", I'm Australian), half blocks, switches, buttons and more random blocks that don't need to be changed.
2. Potions, enchanting, experience. Just no. I started minecraft (Especially online game play) to play a normal, equal strength game that allowed only armour and weapons to change how strong players were. Originally it was just "the more you mine, the better you are". Now you have to worry about enchanted arrows, super strength swords, weapons that light you on fire, swords that send you flying metres, invisibility potions, damage in a bottle, throwable fire, regeneration potions, almost invincible armour, shoes that stop fall damage, fire resistant clothes, poison in a bottle, and night vision potions.
Not to mention the experience points tally. What happened to dying happily? These days if you kill someone they swear at you and threaten to "F*cking kill you F*ck head Sh*t fool! I'mma hunt you down and murder you with my real life ninja skills!" Honestly, the fact that we have to keep track of so many things is making the game both a job and a game.
3. Food and death by hunger. I like the old days, when we could just walk for infinity and never die (taken we don't get blown by an exploding pen!s...ergh...creeper...). Hunger, has got to be the main thing in modern minecraft that I truly despise. If only we could easily disable the food option. I know peaceful is an option if you don't want to lose hunger- but I like to kill mobs while NOT having to worry about eating raw steak every 2 minutes.
CONCLUSION
What's next?
I liked minecraft, and besides the countless technicalities that have arisen, I STILL like the game itself. But I'm quite anxious as to see what happens in the future. Heck, jeb might just release redstone that can be placed on the side of blocks- or tables that take you to space.
But please, don't take this as a rant. Even though it almost is. I'm just displaying my point of view on the subject. Some people may love the constant updates and technicalities; I for one would just like it to stop as it is ruining what minecraft is about.
What are your thoughts on the subject?
Feel free to discuss, I'd love to hear your point of view!

My view and opinion of minecraft has changed drastically since I wrote this blog. I (personally) have come to enjoy the changes mojang releases to the game, it keeps us intrigued and makes the game like a never-ending adventure.
I've only kept this blog online because it may show what some people think.
Thanks for bringing this up ^^
To repeat something I said on the PMC forum, MC is about doing what you want to do. Overall, the thing that changes the most is that more possibilities come, more things you can possibly do. I can't really say anything about potions or enchanting (honestly, I'm surprised that you made some actual and, in a way, actually comprehensible arguments here, as your kind normally just bitches about them without a rhyme or reason), since I never did much with it. But I never saw a reason to think that I have to do anything with them.
But I like the hunger bar. Old health regeneration was rather easy, since you would instantly gain health just by eating something. WIth the hunger, it's harder, since you have to be well-fed and only gradually gain health. And that's really not a big thing, since there are so many and easy ways to get food. Especially growing crops.
The only thing I really agree with is that it's way too easy to place stairs upside-down by accident. But even that I don't see as a so horrible thing. Facepalming about it seems like an exaggerated reaction to me.
All the updates are really doing are adding new ways to play the game. For example, I'm a redstone guy, and I'm excited for the announcement for 1.5, because it gives me more options. One of my friends is a farmer and is glad they added in more crops. It caters to lots of different playstyles, and in my opinion makes it more fun to play multiplayer with friends, because you share the burden. There's always ways to get what you enjoy out of the game, if you're looking for alpha state, play creative or download minecraft classic for free. If you're talking about beta, pre 1.8, it's still possible to get a similar experience if not exactly. Avoid the things you dislike, and enjoy it the way you want, I really don't understand people's concern in this aspect. Minecraft has removed very few things, and has simply added content for a wider array of playstyles.
Just my opinion on it, take it with a grain of salt. I like how chimneyswift11 on youtube put it, and a lot of his feelings are similar to mine, I'll leave that here if you want to hear it said in a better way.

P.S I've only played since 1.0. Now, I know I probably don't know as much as some of you, but, I know about the things in past updates enough, like no food bars, instant healing by eating, the weird frog girl Rana (who was only in the game for a small amount of time) and how zombies used to wear armor (now they do again). But, yes, I have to agree on enchanting.
