Everybody these days is looking for the extra knowledge to propel themselves above their competition. Here's a few tips and tricks you may or may not have known.

1. Hit the "Shift" and the "Option" key (if on a mac, not sure about PC) while pressig "?" to get this in game: ¿

2. If you throw an egg at a wall in the 1.0.0 update, a baby chicken will appear in about 1/7 times

3. Chickens are the only "Above-World" creatures that can breed in the Nether (don't ask me how to get them there)

4. Water drips through a 1-block thick layer if you're underneath it. So make sure you build your underground rooms with 2-block spacing if under the water (also lava)

5. If you have a pickaxe enchanted with fortune, it won't make a block you've placed have double-drops

6. You DO NOT need to place the corners on a nether portal. That means you only need to mine 10 obsidian! (unless you're a perfectionist)

7. Certain potions, like fire resist and speed, have no downsides in strength when you lengthen their effects. So there's no downside in making a 3:00 fire resist potion turn into an 8:00 one.

8. Fire resist potions are useful in the nether for 2 things. One, for making a house underneath the lava, since the lava can't burn you. Secondly, use them when fighting blazes! You will get about 8-10 levels of xp (depending on your current level), around 10-16 blaze rods (depending on how generous they're feeling), and the only way they can damage you is by touching you.

9. If you enchant a diamond sword with sharpness, I know for sure that sharpness II, III, and IV have the same amount of hits required to kill a mob! (It took level 49 to enchant a diamond sword IV for me. What a waste!)

10. Gold is the most enchantable item! This means that gold tools and armor will get higher level enchantments off lower level xp enchants. After this is iron, followed by diamond.
-I suggest you try to get a gold helmet with aqua affinity if you like to mine clay underwater
-Iron armor, if enchanted right, may be more powerful than diamond armor!
-This also explains why you keep getting FREAKIN' BANE OF ARTHROPODS ON YOUR DIAMOND SWORDS!!!

11. Netherwarts grow either really fast (on rare occasions) or generally take days - weeks. To try to avoid this, make a large netherwart farm.

12. If you place a netherwart in the top of a brewing stand, and 3 water bottle on the bottom, all 3 of them will become awkward potions. Same goes for any other brewing recipe you wish to try.

13. When using a speed potion, you walk the same pace as a sprint, and sprint twice as fast. Your jump length in walk is increased to 4 blocks, and in sprint it is 8 blocks.

14.When you are on fire, log off! This will more times than not cause you to suffer about 1 heart worth of damage, then the fire will extinguish, no matter how recently you've caught on fire!

15. When fighting a skeleton, once it spots you, wait about a second until it fires it's first arrow. Then, after this, if you time it well enough, you will keep running at the skeleton, and jump after this second. About 50% of the time, you will jump clear over the arrow, taking no damage at all.

16. When a creeper approaches you, about 95% of the time, it will go to your left (not the creeper's left, but your left from the player's perspective). This is REALLY helpful in predicting a creepers attack plan, since if you know that it will take only 2 more hits to kill the creeper, you can have a high percent chance that you know where the creeper is going, and feel confident that you can kill it with 2 blows back-to-back without retreating.

17. After you build a nether portal (preferably without corners), go through it and on the nether portal in the actual nether, there will be 4 extra obsidian - 1 on each corner.

18. It's impossible to shoot an enderman with arrows, no matter how hard you try.

More will be added soon enough! If you have any insight on tips, tricks, and facts about the Minecraft world, please leave a post!

View the player in F5 from underwater/lava while the player isn't in the water/lava. You can see through liquids!
