One thing I always thought that would be cool for minecraft is working ships (you know the water kind!) It would add whole new dimensions to PvP servers, and would allow for a "on the go" base for any occasion! So in this blog I am gonna give you an in depth description of my idea!

Im thinking it will start with a frame of some sort. You will need to craft a ship Hull, body, and aft. You would get small versions to hold in your GUI and you would place it in water, much like a block, but it would place a large part of a ship (You could change the size by using stacks in the place of one block. Please note that these ships wont be HUGE but range from small to medium sizes). I haven't worked out exactly how it would work, but in my head I imagine it working like placing a schematic in game. The crafting recipes would have to be resource intensive so not just anyone can build a ship. But to keep the "creativeness" of minecraft flowing, once you have the ships frame all placed, you can use any wood or wool material to "fill in" the ship. Now to complete our ship we are going to need to talk about the "new blocks"

Quite a bit of new "blocks" would need to be added. these would include (but are not limited to) Masts block (like wool), steering wheels, cannons, mast "poles", flags, flag stands, and who knows maybe a few more!

Well, to not make it tedious, I would like it to move on its own, and have it be steered via steering wheel. It would work much like walking except slower. The steering wheel and masts would also "turn and animate" to create the look of a ship at sea. How about shooting can it do that?

There would be "shooting" positions on the boat. The cannons will look kinda like cauldrons turned on their sides (but WAY cooler). First add the ammo, right click the cannon with a fire charge (add up to 3). To adjust the "power/length" of the shot would depend on how much gunpowder is added. The more you add the more powerful. Add the gunpowder by right clicking it with that next. To remove the supplies from the cannon right click it with a stick and the gunpowder and fireball will pop out. To light the cannon right click it with a torch and off it will fire. The fireball will act more like a ghastball than a normal fireball out of a dispenser. It will be able to destroy stone, but will cause the most damage to wood.

Now this is where the true potential of ships come in. Imagine factions servers with ships! My idea is simple for this. Each faction has a certain flag (flags to be made with colored mast blocks for different colors). When you make a boat, you put your flag on it, and can now teleport into a designated area with a command like "/f ship" or something like that. If you want to take out an enemy boat, you can destroy it with cannons or you can board it, capture it, and raise your own flag on the ship. To lower one flag and raise your own will take around 5 minuets, during this time the ship members will try to kill you and get you off their ship. When you die you transport to your normal "/f home" but you can use "/f ship" to teleport to the ship until it becomes neutral, in which case, the ships survivors will have no back up. It will add a whole new dimension to factions or PvP servers, and can maybe even become its own kind of server!

Buccaneering servers will work just like the above servers except the worlds will be almost completely water and a few islands (there will be "world borders"). These servers will attract A TON of players because it appeals to faction players and arena style players.

If you want to support this idea PLEASE give it a diamond! If you want to give me some feedback, PLEASE comment! If you don't like it, I am sincerely sorry.

Also please note: the picture of the ship is not my own, I found it using google image search.
