Hello everybody! It is Rusty here with my new blog, Minedictting!
To start off, I'll have to say sorry for not posting much, the month of October has been super busy for me (it was also my birthday :3), and I have no time for computer life! But don't fret I was busy making blog ideas still forth!
Okay, enough with the announcements! Let's get this blog started!
(Testing, testing, 1-2-3, is this thing on? *Smash's microphone*)
Hello? Oh hi there! Today were talking about a word, yes a said a word. No this isn't an English class, and no I do not believe it will be in any dictionary...
The word is 'Minedictting', it refers to 'Mine-dicts', not to be confused with the other word that sounds like it (but we don't say it ;)). Because I will be using the word quite often, here is a few definition for your peace of mind.
Mine-dict:
The word may be new, but the meaning isn't. A Mine-dict is someone who let's Minecraft take over there lives, this is not to be confused with hardcore fans.
Example:
Fan: OMG Minecraft is super awesome! I got to the End and I beat the game! Yay!
Mine-dict: So I needed to finish everything, I skipped school/work to do so. Crap... My boss is calling to fire me...
Minedictting:
If I used the word contagious I'd catch some haters, so here is the definition is a more simpler way.
When Minecraft gets in the way of your real life. This is not to be confused with all the fans who are like 'omg Minecraft is ma leif"
Example:
Fan: Minecraft is so awesome I wish it like merged with real life I play it all the time!
Mine-addict: Minecraft is so awesome! I like to plan my next builds in school/work. (P.S. Most of the day I'm running my server and... What is the real life you speak of?)
Here is what Eeirail had to say when I asked him about Minecraft addiction:
"My overall opinion is that Minecraft is basically just like every other addiction, an escape that is eventually abused."
~Eeirail
Mmm, well put.
"Ya, I'm addicted, ofc"
Woh woh woh! Stop right there! You may think your a 'Mine-dict', but it can really just be that you love Minecraft... A lot...
If you just love Minecraft a lot, you might do things like:
Being addicted to Minecraft has it's very dark sides, it can ruin your life even, it will turn you into someone you never knew you were...
If your a real Mine-dict, at least five things on this list will be you, if not, your just a major fan, or I don't know, you love the game more than your mom... (ps. if you don't love her that means you hate your life):
Don't get me wrong, if your even just one of these things, it doesn't necessarily mean your a Mine-dict, however it can seem very convincing.
Like I stated before the above list, you would have to be at least, maybe 5 things from that list in order to really be considered "Addicted".
A proper conclusion (That isn't really a conclusion)
I hope you have learned something from this blog, because I sure did... (Wait...Who was that?!?)
Now to end with an ending statement from my awesome buddy, munchiesyum:
"The term Mine-dictting brings two things to my mind. Firstly it's hard to spell and secondly it sounds funny. But otherwise I find In some cases it can be more than true. I've had personal experiences where people have said to me they can't do something because they "need" to play minecraft and not even with friends.
Minecraft can appeal to many in many different ways. You have the survival addicts, who sit in front of a computer all day getting every achievement. The creative geniuses, that come up with these crazy ideas of something to build and end up amazingly pulling it off. The skinners/artist, who make skins for themselves and friends. Most of these though have a positive effect. A survival expert will learn to deal with more difficult problems, a creative genius would learn a good creative thought process and some architectural skill and the artist would learn to create original ideas and execute them using advanced shading and more.
In conclusion I do decide that being "Mine-dictted" could be a good thing over the long term with the skills that you develop but your social life could deteriorate and you would need to be extremely good to get to the levels above. For example the creative geniuses would be the people that are in the Angel Block Society and many of the people that apply."
Munchiesyum-
Yes what a lovely opinion you got there (would be shame if anything happened to it...)
So for my closing statement, I'd like to reflect on what Munchi is saying. In his words, Mine-dictted would mean, as I have said, Minecraft is basically your life, and you spend all the time on there. He's not saying all people who work extremely hard on there minecraft projects are Mine-dictted, but like I wanted to say at the start of the blog, if you play Minecraft a whole lot, it can become 'contagious'.
For example, Assassins Creed, super Mario, or any other video-game will do for this example; You don't play an addictive game once and then say 'oh heck I'm addicted', doesn't work that way. You only start being addicted once you start placing that video-game in front of your real life (but what is this real life you speak of?).
Thank you everyone for reading! And thanks to Eeirail and munchiesyum for giving there statements on this topic!
If you havn't already, you may consider subscribing! If you have... Well, I'm not sure what to tell you, uh, I'm lost, someone hand me a script or something? Anyone? HELP!!!

Woh woh woh! Stop right there! You may think your a 'Mine-dict', but it can really just be that you love Minecraft... A lot...
If you just love Minecraft a lot, you might do things like:
- Make things in real life that are related to the game,
- Talk about it often, as well as plan builds on paper/chalkboard/etc
- Often tell people how awesome Minecraft is
- Try to tell people that Minecraft is educational
- Make school projects/models or other things on Minecraft (The time will come when it is the norm!)
- You will often skip school/work to play Minecraft
- All you ever really talk about is Minecraft
- You are insanely passionate, and in your mind anyone who judges Minecraft for anything can go to the Nether (You literally say the Nether because you believe that is the only hell that anyone needs(I mean it is, but...))
- You've spent countless hours and countless dollars buying Minecraft merchandise, and you may have even sold important things to get a better laptop/buy more things
- On your things you need in a women list, one of them is "Must like Minecraft as much as I do"
- You have become a professional Java programmer... Just to make mods...
- You dream in Minecraft style environment/You play Minecraft all night in your dreams
- You are losing lots of sleep due to playing Minecraft
- Nothing left to learn in Minecraft... Time to become a professional griefer!
Don't get me wrong, if your even just one of these things, it doesn't necessarily mean your a Mine-dict, however it can seem very convincing.
Like I stated before the above list, you would have to be at least, maybe 5 things from that list in order to really be considered "Addicted".
