Diamonds

Diamonds are a measure of how popular a submission is on Planet Minecraft.
They might get you to Pop-reel or even the front page. And while that may be satisfying, once that happens, your project may be buried underneath a million new projects that got more diamonds than you. So what do you with the diamonds that are now sitting there, collecting dust?

Maybe you could use them.
You should be able to use diamonds for something. Maybe a shop, or maybe to unlock more ranks.
So here is a list of my ideas for using diamonds:

Diamond Cave
Of course everyone needs a place to store all of their diamonds. So the Diamond Cave would keep track of how many diamonds you have recieved on each project. This could also be like the members listing, and show the top diamond collectors.

Diamond Ranks
Now, you can have some new ranks below your exsisting one. It would represent how many diamonds you have.
Here's an example:
100 Diamonds - Diamond Collector
1000 Diamonds - Diamond Lover
10000 Diamonds - Diamond Hoarder
100000 Diamonds - Diamond Overlord
Of course those are examples, and there can be more ranks than that.
But the diamond ranks would be colored light blue and be located under your current rank.

Diamond Market/Store
This would be like Planetminecraft's store. You could buy everything located in the real Planetminecraft store, with many diamonds of course, and also fancy other stuff. Here's a list of some stuff you might be able to buy with diamonds.
-Fancy effects on the forums or for your PMC member
-Buy gifts you can give to other players. (Similar to diamond trading.)

Diamond Trading
Ever had to pay commission for a project? Want to congragulate someone on a job well done? Now you can pay them with diamonds. They could be used to trade with other members, as a way of saying thanks.

Multiple Diamonds
Do you think someone really deserves an extra diamond? In addition to the free diamond you get on every post, you can then add more diamonds from your personal stash.
You could also buy a booster in the store which would allow you to give multiple diamonds to a project.

Other Ways to Earn Diamonds
Maybe there could be other ways than having people diamond your posts to collect diamonds. You could win diamonds for winning PMC contests or through giveaways.

A Way to Reward Subscribers or Subscriptions
There could be a way to share your diamonds with subscribers or subscriptions by toggling a switch. The site could automatically give diamonds to a subscriber or subscription every certain interval of time. (Week, Month) You could toggle how many diamonds are given every interval. You could also set a number where you stop automatically giving diamonds or toggle it back off after a while.

Problems With These Ideas

First of all,
Diamonds shouldn't be a system of buying ranks either. People should still earn every level by themselves. And no VIP systems either. That would make PMC a more unfair and un-fun place. (Thanks to Ludicrous)

Otherwise, a lot of these ideas have serious problems that come with them.
Technically, someone could have mulitple PMC accounts and could diamond all of their projects to get lots of diamonds.
They could also make new posts all the time and get 1 diamond from themself whenever they did. (Thanks to Bdon_3)
People could set up shops claiming that if you trade diamonds, they will give you stuff. They won't. In reality, they are scamming you.
And  there's many more... so tell me if you think you found one.

And Ways to Fix Them
But... never fear, there's ways to balance this system too!

•If Moderators find someone who are spam posting, they should be able to take away diamonds from that project. So if the member wants to get diamonds, he has to earn them legitly.

•Items like fancy effects could be worth about 100 diamonds. But real life merchandise would have to be a considerable amount more. (Tell me if I'm wrong here.) (Thanks to --Jack--)

•You should only be able to trade diamonds after a certain level. Only trustworthy people who have earned the right to reach a new level should be able to trade diamonds. Perhaps Level 10 or along those lines.(Thanks to 8BitShadows)

•Another way to solve this is to have at least 6-10 people diamond a project before the diamonds count in the players 'Cave'.

People found who are obviously spamming posts or using multiple accounts could be reported by regular players, moderators don't necessarily have to find them.

Planet Minecraft Rules - Rules That Diamond Farmers Violate
2.1
"You are allowed to make 1 Planet Minecraft account to use the site to its full potential."

"Creating additional accounts without permission will result in increased ban length, removal of new account(s), removal of submissions, etc. These cases include, but are not limited to:
  • making accounts to comment, diamond or favorite on your submissions
  • making accounts to vote for your server
  • making accounts to spam any of the systems (please see those sections for more detailed information)
  • making accounts to bypass bans
  • making accounts to impersonate individuals that are not yourself "

Favorites

Favorites are like saying to someone, "Wow, I love your post so much I want to keep it so I remember it forever." Or something like that.
Now, the user that favorited the post gains something, but what about the owner of the post?
Should they earn something too?

This is very similar to Diamonds. Except that favorites are a better and more valuble thing to collect, seeing that most posts get more diamonds than favorites.

Heart Jar
Your Heart Jar is a virtual jar where you can see all your favorites. Like diamonds, it can show the top users based on how many favorites they have, along with showing you the amount of favorites you have on all your projects.
*The name is kind of ominous. It sounds like you're ripping out people's hearts and keeping them.

Loved Ranks
Your love rank is displayed below the diamond rank. It is based off of the amount of favorites you have in your Heart Jar.
Here's an example:
25 Favorites - Likeable
75 Favorites - Loveable
150 Favorites - Wow, So Much <3
500 Favorites - U.H.C. (Ultimate Heart Collector)

Heart Currency
I don't really think a currency for favorites would work out. There is already one based off of diamonds, and a player can have infinite favorites.
If you think of a way there could be a favorite currency, comment.

Problems With These Ideas
As mentioned above in the diamond section, people can abuse favorites. They can spam posts and favorite them, or use multiple accounts to earn lots of favorites per post.
You can look above if you want to see some other problems that could occur with favorites too, and ways to fix them.

Thanks any feedback guys! It helps me update the blog and make it even better!
Anyways...

this is a great Idea but dont forget how someone can spam skins and just get like 3 diamonds for each by the same people, making it kinda unfair

Yeah, but it's vanilla survival. No buying items nor ranks.

They could make it so you can't diamond your blog. (So when you make a blog you can't use the diamond button yourself)

I like the idea of using diamonds as fake internet points! (Not even being condescending here!) It could work out well, but considering alternate accounts being able to add +1 diamond to peoples own things, the amount needed might have to be a bit high.

Hmm.. So we turn the diamond system into currency? Its ok, just as long as its for stuff to pretty up your profile, and not to something like VIPs or OPs or else, PMC will no longer be just, fair, nor fun.

Honestly dude, this is is one of the most, ah, 'resourceful' idea blog I've seen in a while. I can see you've put a lot of effort into this! Here is a diamond and a favorite, enjoy.
