If your under 13, try signing up for Facebook, Twitch, or Google, using your own date of birth. Didn't let you, right? Well, I think that is a discrimination.Yes, I understand nobody wants their little babies getting cyber bullied or something, and they have gotten laws passed to protect us. If you look at the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (for Americans) generally says EVERYONE must be treated equally under law. That doesn't seem to happen, us under 13 can't get a Facebook, Twitch, Google, or MySpace.

Under that logic, 12 year olds should be able to smoke cigarettes. Also, it's not a law that you can't sign up for Facebook if you're under 13, it's a company policy, which has nothing to do with the law, so the 14th amendment has nothing to do with it.

If I can recall correctly, the 14th Amendment was passed in 1869, A long time before anything like Facebook or Twitch was even around. So that Amendment was created long before anyone had any idea something like the internet was gonna pop up. They didn't design that Amendment with the internet in mind.

Facebook/Twitch limits are there for a reason. People post images and type words inappropriate for children on those sites, you don't want them watching/reading that until they're old enough to handle it.

the reason they have that is because the conversations there aren't the most appropriate of things for those under 13, but there's a lot of benefits outside of those topics. Honestly, I've seen things at this age on the internet that made my stomach tie itself in knots, and at the age of ten I saw my first gore site when I thought that it was a discrimination. When the axe maniacs did their thing in those twisted videos, I realized why they had age limitations.

I understand what your trying to say, but
1) They US Constitution has no control over how companies (like Facebook) will function
2) They did it to protect people under 13

for canada, I had to set my birth date 5 years back because in 2012 they made so you had to be over "18" to use facebook

However, exsisting facebook users from that time could still use there account

This is getting a little out of control...

It is against the law to take personal information from someone under the age of 13. Pervs are all over the internet and any one under the age of 18 is extremely gullible. I'm 15, so I don't care .-.

There's a ton of stuff on Facebook and Twitch nobody under thirteen should see.

There's a ton of stuff on Facebook and Twitch nobody should see.

There's a ton of stuff on the Internet in general; that none should see.

Such restrictions are put into place as a protection. Yeah, they might be a pain, but they've legitimate reasons to be there.

Theres a ton of stuff that you should at least be 12 to do, not 13 as I know people who are really mature at age 12.

You seem to be talking about offline activities. I'd agree, in that respect.

However, online there's much children should be kept from. Likely, there's more crap on the Interwebs than decent content.

Nope. There are enough laws that restrict underaged people to do certain stuff. That's completly legal.

No capital letter at your sentence's start. No period at the end. 'It's', is a contraction and thus should use an apostrophe.

Wow. You're ten years old and you know a freaking lot about politics and laws. But I don't see your point as by not letting you sign up on their site, they are actually protecting you from stalkers, language, and viruses and everything else that comes along with going on a Social Network site. Kids should be kids and should not have the responsibilities of an adult or have to worry about them

Oh God, I almost died reading this.

You realize there are laws prohibiting collecting info online on citizens under 14, right?

Why not give you some beer, a car, some porn sites, and a gun --- Wait you want to take guns away from citizens... nevermind...

It is because the sites don't want young kids to be exposed to stuff that is out there, or to have creepers out there have access to young kid's information

Rea, there are laws about what children under the age of 13 can and can't do on the internet. It is to protect you. Although, I don't see why you would want a Facebook. I have one and I never use it. PMC has become my sort of Facebook.

They have that as a safeguard so kids shouldn't be seeing certain things. Now, if everything applied to 14th Amendment, you would be able to drink alcohol since you were born, you would be forced to work since you were born, and everyone would be having school no mater what age you were. Would you rather just wait a few years or have a society as I suggested above?

The reason for this? It's a social networking site. The 13th amendment doesn't apply. Very few laws apply to websites - Especially ones that are privately owned.

I'm not complaining or anything, it just frustrates me that kids under 13 can't use Facebook etc. even though the 13th Ammendment says all people are to be treated the same under law.
