The big server experiment


I had this idea. What if I made a server where everybody who joins is on creative mode, and can do whatever they like, and not get banned. I wanted to see what will happen to a Minecraft world if everybody did their own thing. So I published the server.


So far over 200 people have taken part in just a few hours of it being online.


What I saw:


The first things you see when you spawn are huge mountains of lava and cobble with water running down. Then you will notice a lot of craters where TNT has been set off. I saw a lot of random, and small red stone devices, as well as random, half destroyed structures and enchanting tables, from where people have enchanted their weapons to fight the hundreds of mobs that players have spawned to try and lag the server. Speaking of mobs, there are a lot of ghasts, endermen and squids.
Nearly all trees in the area have been burnt down, nether portals have been placed every now and then, but then they soon get destroyed. There is very little ground that hasno t been covered in water or lava. Most of the damage has been done in the biome that the spawn area is, in the plains. In the end I went downstairs to have dinner, and then came back up only to see some troller had a victory, and managed to get my server to close and my Minecraft.exe to crash and say o out of memory, please restart the game and play in offline modeo .


I was hosting this server on an official Minecraft server, not a Bukkit, because of the new 1.2 update that messed up my old bucket server, which was a no rules survival, which was another experiment I was doing, but it didno t work and was not anywhere near as popular as this server experiment.

The server cannot always be up, because I have school, but I try to put it up as often as I can.
