NB: Very long blog, but ito s totally worth reading. I recommend this to the strongest.

Hello and welcome to yet another blog of mine. This time I decided to step it up a notch. This is my first interview attempt on PMC and maybe my last.

For this interview I included a lot of members, 12 actually. 2 site, forum, retired and chat moderators+2 members alongside with 2 contest judges. 1 is an old experienced member in his position; the other is new to his membership. These are the following members who have been interviewed:

Lynchyinc: lv 73, joined pmc 8/19/11, Member of Angel block society. Experienced site moderator

Midnight: lv 33, joined pmc 4/30/12, promoted to site moderator.

DaAwesomePwner: lv 26, joined pmc 12/26/11, experienced forum moderator

Knobleknives: lv 58, joined pmc 11/30/11, promoted forum moderator

Supershadowan12: lv 37, joined pmc 10/15/11, experienced chat moderator

Nemisis: lv 40, joined pmc 7/8/12, promoted chat moderator

Happybandaid: lv 38, joined pmc 4/25/11, experienced moderator which later on retired

Fanjawi: lv24, joined pmc 11/18/12, chat moderator which later on retired

Yuki: lv 52, joined pmc 6/16/12, experienced contest judge

Usumicake: lv 32, joined pmc 10/26/12, promoted contest judge for the first time

Yourscrafter: lv 74, joined pmc 3/06/11

Sualeos: lv 19, joined pmc 7/30/13

So lets start the interview!
When did you start playing minecraft and how much did you play in the first days/weeks/months?

Lynchyinc: I started playing minecraft in 1.7.3 Beta after stumbling upon the Yogscast 'shadow of israphel' series - those were magical days! Nothing beats playing minecraft for the first few months; I definitely enjoyed it more back then and played it nonstop as everything was new and magical.

Midnight: I started playing Minecraft back in 1.4 Beta (May 2011) so it was a while ago. As for how much I played, I'm not sure, 6 hours a day almost I think, it was a lot.

DaAwesomePwner: Ah, 'twas about a year or two ago. My friend showed me this phenomenon on a cracked server (don't judge). I played around a bit, and thought it was interesting. I did play cracked for a bit (I didn't even know you had to buy it), but when I found out that I couldn't play on some servers (premium servers), I found out it was paid. So I bought it. I played pretty often, to where I was addicted.

Knobleknives: I started about two years ago, back around about 1.5 or 1.6 Beta. I became obsessed with it after seeing my friends play it, so I bought it and proceeded to play at least two to three hours of it daily for about two weeks.

Supershadowan12: When did I start? Hmmmm. I'm not too sure on the exacttiming. Somewhere between Alpha 1.5 and 1.6? And I played a lot. A good couple of hours nearly every day, for quit a long time. Ito s a shame I kind of fell out of love with minecraft, it is excellent.

Nemisis: I started playing in April 2012, my friend had a small creative server and I saw him playing, I have always liked games that are free and open world, so I purchased the game and started playing on his server. For the first 4 months I played no survival, it was all creative mode. So I developed some building skills that I am happy with. After a while I started playing with survival, and ito s really not changed from there.

Happybandaid: I was introduced to Minecraft in my sophomore year of college, so that would be... let's see, I guess some time in 2011. I played for at least a week straight, doing nothing else in my dark room except trying not to die from zombie attacks. After that, I played regularly on private servers with my college friends or my cousin (and still do today, though not as much unfortunately!)

Fanjawi: I cano t remember. It was a long time ago. Back around 2011

Yuki: I would have started playing Minecraft, well...the first time I played would have been uhh...a few years ago now, can't remember. XD But it was at a friendo s place. Then I would have gotten cracked about 5/6 months afterwards and then the full version about another 5/6 months after. During the time of cracked and the early stage of the full version, I would have played quite a lot. XD

UsumiCake: Erm, i started playing on 2010, i played a lot, i don't remember how much, but I can say, it was a lot.

Yourscrafter: I started playing Minecraft around Infdev or early alpha (I didn't pay much attention to the version) after a friend of mine showed it to me. I'd then play it every time I went to his about once a week, nowadays I play Minecraft or do Minecraft related things in most of my spare time.

Sualeos: Around 1 1/2 years ago - I played a lot more when i first started, now i really don't play that much at all.

Give me 7 words describing how you found Planetminecraft.com

Lynchyinc: Nicolas Cage whispered it to me softly

Midnight: My minecraft broke and I needed help.

DaAwesomePwner: I searched up "minecraft skins" on Google.

Knobleknives: Searching for maps and mods via Google.

Supershadowan12:(7 words? This'll be interesting) looking for adventure maps and minecraft mods.

Nemisis: Hated Minecraft Forums Wanted To Post Here

Happybandaid: Engaging, Community, Potential, Centered, Multifaceted, Creative, Positive

Fanjawi: I can't remember how I found it.

Yuki: Someone on MinecraftForums recommended PMC post skins. (XD Screw grammar! XD)

UsumiCake: I started skinning and i found PMC. (Actually, i sucked 3:)

Yourscrafter: I do not remember, was long ago.

Sualeos: I wanted a kobe bryant minecraft skin

o Some of the members have not been on the site for long, you will soon figure out who answered which questiono How has planet minecraft developed as a fan site over the past years? Are you enjoying the way planet minecraft is shaped up as a fan site?

Lynchyinc: I've seen PMC go from 10,000 members to over 1million, which is insane! It's been great for promoting new builders and content creators, and is a great place to meet new people and share the things you create in minecraft,

Midnight: Io ve never been on any other Minecraft fansite, so PMC is the best Io ve ever seen. There are little things here and there I wish could be changed just for the ease of moderation but besides that it runs very smoothly.

DaAwesomePwner: When I joined (December 2011), it was pretty popular with around 600,000 members or something. I've seen how it looked before, and how popular it was. I guess it was one of the first Minecraft fan sites alive, and since it was very well made, it became popular.

Knobleknives: From what I've noticed, the amount of members has increased substantially from when I joined, which was a year or two after the beginning of the site. It seems to have also developed a good following, judging by the collaboration that had been done between the PMC and the big Minecraft group thingy, MSG.

Supershadowan12: How has it developed? Well, I can't really say much has changed. We got larger. Much, much larger. More and more people shared their things, and it just got gradually grew, as many sites do.

Nemisis: Planet Minecraft has grown quite a lot, the changes tio the site have improved its uptime and its quality, and I foresee it developing further in the future. I am enjoying how PMC has shaped up, the community has developed well and the quality of the content that is being posted has generally risen.

Happybandaid: A part that I tried to focus on in my time as a moderator was encouraging people to get together and help each other to boost the community as a whole. Contests, skinning mentorships, chat rooms, and various creative community forum posts helped the PMC community grow strongly together and learn from each other.

Fanjawi: Yes. The community is just fantastic. I love it. Everyday when I come here, from the morning, I meet these nice and awesome people. They lead PMC to the right direction.

Yuki: In the time I've been here on PMC, it's developed quite a bit from what I've seen. The numerous updates to chat and what not, host switch...actually, that's about all I remember. XD However it has definitely developed a bit in the time I've been here.

UsumiCake: I actually like it, because, you can meet people in here, make friends, and feel great, i was scared at first. But, you know, this is a great fan site, you can do lots of things and upload your won content.

Yourscrafter: To be honest, PMC used to be a great place (but don't get me wrong, it definitely still is to an extent) where people shared their projects and ideas about Minecraft. Now it has a large amount of people posting content they put little time into so they can just elevate their status and gain more (worthless) levels, xp and e-diamonds. I'd like it if the leveling system etc were removed completely, so someone was judged based on the quality of their projects not how many times they can spam everyone's feed with AMA threads or the dirt house that they spent 60 seconds on. I may just feel like this because I joined Planet Minecraft before the leveling system was implemented, but I stillbelieve that it's a problem somewhat.

Not to discourage the generally amazing work from some of the PMC community, but it someones feels like it's lost amid the spam.

Sualeos: Yeah, people are very nice and tell you what you can do better, it's like a big community!

How has Minecraft changed as a game for you over the past years?

Lynchyinc: For me, minecraft was perfect in 1.8 beta...but the amazing thing is that each new update tends to add really cool things to play around with; and if you don't like some things, you don't have to use them, as everything is still there from the previous updates.
Jeb and the Mojang team have done a fantastic job of carrying on from where Notch left off. Additions such as upside down stair blocks and new blocks are great fun for builders like myself and command blocks and redstone are great for minigame creators such as Disco & Hypixel

Midnight: I don't play survival much so I can't say ito s gotten any harder. Io ve been fine with almost all the updates besides the hunger bar update and the one with enchantments. I understand Minecraft needs to keep updating to keep up player base, but they could do another special or something, that would bring lots of new players in. I got my minecraft for half off >_>

DaAwesomePwner: It changed pretty well, and I've always enjoyed it. It's always been getting bigger, and tons of people know it nowadays.

Knobleknives: For me, I'd say it's changed both in a negative and positive way. I'm enjoying many of the updates that have been coming out. I also love that many bugs and much of the lag that was present in previous versions have been removed. On the negative side of change, I'm not too particular towards the some of the new mobs (horses, bats, witches). Villagers haven't been my favorite, either. For the most part, though, the game hasn't changed so much that I don't like it. I'm quite excited for the upcoming 1.7 update.

Supershadowan12: I'd say ito s become less of a sandbox and survival game, more of an adventure game. Is this good or bad? I'm not sure. I still enjoy minecraft, but it feels as if something is missing to it.

Nemisis: Minecraft has developed immensely over the past year or so, many new features have encouraged me to play, along with the extended support for the community such as mod developers and map makers, who get more features to play around with and show what the games adaptability is all about.

Happybandaid: The major change in Minecraft that affected me was Creative Mode. It gave me a whole new way to experience the game and realize goals that I'd never thought possible to achieve. I've barely been able to keep up with the past few updates to the game and I look forward to all the content that has yet to be added. I love how the Minecraft world and community grows even when I'm away from time to time.

Fanjawi: To think creative.

Yuki: For me, Minecraft has changed too much for me to want to play anymore, with all these updates adding stuff with RGP/PvP elements in them, it's strayed way too far from the adventure/building game it used to be. However, that doesn't mean I don't like MC anymore, it's just I'm not a fan of the updates that have been coming out.

UsumiCake: Well, i always liked Minecraft, but i knew a few years later i'd stop playing it, but, i decided to keep playing because i found really good minigames and things i really liked. Minecraft will ever be only a game for me, just only because I play on teaming-games things and because now I don't play it too much as i did when i started.

Yourscrafter: I've found it to be getting somewhat easier each update, although this is probably a result of playing this game far too much anyway. I would really like for Minecraft to have some more challenging/end-game content added in the future.

Sualeos: In my opinion (I'm going to get a lot of hate for this) minecraft is getting worse and worse each update that comes out. Jeb is kind of ruining the game, it also used to be about building towns etc..now it's all about killing each other and making factions, in other words i don't like the way the game and the community is changing. Although Io m excited about the new 1.7 update.

What are your plans and future dreams on planet minecraft?

Lynchyinc: As of right now I'm perfectly content; my only goal was to reach level 50; whilst XP is pretty meaningless, it's nice to set yourself an attainable goal - and when you reach that goal, it's a great feeling. Hopefully I can stick around a bit longer as a content creator putting out maps, and as a moderator helping out on the site and banishing spammers to the Nether.

Midnight: Plans? Dreams? Pass SlipB in rank>

DaAwesomePwner: My plans are to become and oldie but goody moderator, where I tell stories of the past. I'm already pretty old (compared to other forum mods), and it will be fun to see how the site progresses.

Knobleknives: Plans and? Not many, actually. One of my plans is to stay on Planet Minecraft until college, so I've got a few years left on the PMC clock. As for dreams, if meeting a PMC buddy irl counts, that'd be amazing.

Supershadowan12: My only real plans are to stay on site and try and help keep order. I just want to help, really. That, and make more friends. Thats all I planned.

Nemisis: In the future, I hope to write more tutorial blogs as I enjoy helping the community out, by offering them tips and tricks that I have learnt. I also plan to post mods, as I enjoy programming, and I already have one in the works. I also want to start helping out more as a moderator, and keeping chat moderated.

Happybandaid: I haven't been around PMC for quite a while now due to university (graduated this year with a degree in English & Creative Writing and a minor in Digital Art!), employment, art projects, and real-life friends and family. Even so, I still love PMC and would like to be around more in the future if I have the chance.
Right now my cousin (PMC username Mahtan) and I are still working on the long-term project of recreating the game of Bomberman64 in Minecraft, which we plan to make available for download on PMC (here's the page if you wanna check it out:
http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/bomberman-64/ ).

Otherwise, I might possibly hold a skin contest in the future based around the characters of a virtual band/story-world a friend and I are creating called Dressed For Gunfire (he does music, I do art - think Gorillaz). You can check out our Facebook page, music, and art here: https://www.facebook.com/DressedForGunfire

Fanjawi: To be a better moderator. I love helping so much. I better be fantastic while doing so.

Yuki: My plans on PMC...well, I personally don't see me going anywhere for a while...so I guess it's just to keep posting skins, maybe at one point I'll make a texture pack, however I don't see one happening...well, a full texture pack. As for future dreams, right now, all I see is 1000 subs, that's all I'm going for right now, I'm sure after that it will go to 1500 and so on in increments of 500.

UsumiCake: Well, i don't have any dream, actually, i never had a PMC dream, i just keep moving on without an objective at all. I'm happy with i have at the moment, more than happy i should say, but after all i don't have any dream, erm, and that's because i want to keep going, and going.

Yourscrafter: Haven't really thought of any plans, I suppose I have none currently.

Sualeos: Maybe make a texture pack, and more skins.

BONUS QUESTION

I would love to have tons of questions for you but I can only do one of these. Where do you get your building inspiration from? Where does this incredible motivation to make extraordinary builds come from?

Lynchyinc:
A HUGE inspiration for me is Studio Ghibli - watching movies like that just fill my head with ideas, as well as listening to music - sometimes I can imagine a theme of a build just from listening to a song. Whenever I'm stuck for ideas, I have a look on DeviantArt; there are some amazing artists on there who create inspirational work.

Just under 3 months you have managed to become a site mod from you was just a new born member. What will you say is the most challenging part with your new responsibility?

Midnight:

Figuring out what to do when. With chat its normally 15 minute rule, spam, server hall talk, its not hard at all. Forum is well, forum is harder okay? Just harder... Site is relatively easy unless you run into a hard report, and you have to stay there and deal with it to stop some type of argument. And Im not the best when it comes to handling that stuff, Go get Azie to help you, she's awesome.

Now a shout out to all my buddies c:

Jetra you're awesome. Fanjawi Ima miss you on chat, Palaeos you are super epic when it comes to server hall, Azie I love you now okay?, Teddy never change...., Jesu no just no go away, Supernova I need more dress photos, and if I tried to name every member I know, well ito s a long list so Hi everyone! ^_^

You are considered the Swag God of pmc, but lately we havnt seen that much of you like we used to. So what are you doing these days on your sparetime? and could you comment what happened that day you were online 72 hours in the pmc chat?

DaAwesomePwner:

The reason is because school just started, and I've been thrown multiple tests already. I have band too, where it takes up 19 hours of my day, so I am not really at home. I try to get on when I can.

Also, that time was when some guy was saying he was always on chat, and I was like "Challenge Accepted". So then I stayed on the PMC chat for around 72 hours, mostly AFK, but chatting occasionally. People got angry at me for being AFK though. Not sure what that is about.

You are considered one of pmc`s finest skinners, you have the trust worthy to wear the green cape and apart from that you are also a nice person. You also run your own site, and I noticed you raise money for local kids in hospital. How did you get involved yourself into this wonderful charity foundation?

Knobleknives:

Last year, when ExtraLife started up, I immediately fell in love with the concept of what the charity was for. After it was all over for the year, I had made a personal note in my mind that if I were ever to become a moderator, I would participate in the ExtraLife event the next year.

Been a while since you posted anything, we get your presence mostly in the chat. Would you like to tell us what other interests you have in besides pmc? From my experience I noticed you are facinated about space, would you confirm this?

Supershadowan12:

Fascinated with space? You could say that. Astronomy has only recently become a large interest of mine, but it is very intrguing. The wonders our universe hold are quite something. Nothing we could ever reach, but so much to see. Astronomy really does make you feel rather humbled. In this infinite universe, we're nothing more than a speck of sand. But on that speck of sand, there are so many things to do, see. So many wonders. And many more lie in the night sky.

As for other interests, I enjoy doing art, and in general, gaming.

From my experience you must like space related content. What kind of space games, movies or anything related to the questiondo you like? Does space fascinates you?

Nemisis:

I do like stuff to do with space but more so Sci-Fi such as games like Halo, and movies such as Star Wars. I also like to look at planets as I am fascinated by space, and feel that we need to fund the exploration of it more.

What are your interests outside of minecraft? And should people always carry a smile most of the time even though they are having a bad day?

Happybandaid:

I've recently started my career as a freelance copy editor; reading and writing are my peanut butter and jelly (coincidentally, PBnJ sandwiches were also my favorite childhood meal). I love collecting books and videogames, specifically for Nintendo consoles and handhelds, past and present. I adore 80's movies, I can make some mean pork fried rice, and I draw whenever I get a chance (I hope to make a comic someday).

No matter how I feel, if I smile, I smile for others o if your day isn't going so well, even something as tiny and easy as a smile can make it seem not so bad. Why not do this for others, too? Giving someone a smile is just as powerful as receiving one. The world's difficult for everybody and it means a lot to put a little effort (and come on, how much effort does it really take to smile?) into making this a better place to be!

Ito s truly inspiring to think that you are the only person in the world from the Middle East that actually is a moderator on pmc. Now that you have retired, do you have plans to come back? And if so, will you push yourself to the limit making sure the chat stays safe and clean from rule breakers?

Fanjawi:

Yes. I would love to be back to the team after I finish my work here. I am going to be in my top form in moderating, hopefully. I will try to clean the chat, help members, and make PMC a better place. I just have to finish my work here before starting on that. Just remember, You'll never walk alone.

Its been almost more than 1 year you joined pmc. You have a high rank and a bunch of fans with you. You post amazing content and it got you the judge title. Any message to fans and friends who has brought you to this stage?

Yuki:

All I can say to my fans and friends...is thank you so very much for the support you've given me, feedback, tips and suggestions on improving. Thank you all, it's nice to know all the people I do, all of you.

You are one amazing skinner, ito s getting a lot of good attention. You have also been subscribed by one of the best skinners on the site. What would you like to tell you fans and friends of your accomplishment?

UsumiCake:

Well, erm, thanks to my friends, and fans, subs, whatever people wants to call them, because, they made me succeed, they made me keep going with this skinning thing and, i remember when i was about to quit once, (inspiration problems ) and my friends gave me amazing ideas, thanks to them i'm where i am, Yuki was the person who added me to a group and gave me the chance to meet other people, for the good thing he did, i'm here, thanks to all the SSS, who helped me a lot, i'm very, very, happy, because, when i came to PMC (don'tbesodirtminded) i never thought i'd have so much people to help me as today people does. Thanks to all c:

You already reached legendary status on pmc, and you have been here for a long time. I assume impressing members on pmc is not your priority and therefore you are not that much active on the site. So what else interesting do you do on your sparetime?

Yourscrafter:

I am still relatively active on PMC, I'll check up on the site and have a look around a few times each day, I just don't post submissions often. In my spare time I'm playing Minecraft on my server or occassionally playing another game.

I like long walks on the beach, holding hands and shopping. Can't stop watching The Bachelor on television while crying and eating ice cream, I love Twilight and various other feminine things. [/lies]

As a member you have really developed in a good way the last weeks you have been a member. You signed up 1 month ago! What will you tell your friends and fans that has supported your work?

Sualeos: thank you DatMuffinMan for being the first diamond on my first skin and thank everyone else for supporting me, yeaho

This was my interview with the community. I hope you enjoyed it. ^^
CreditThank you for everyone who took a part of this interview. Maybe 1 year or 2 years after this someone does the same as what I did here xD Also I am sorry for the text size issue in the BONUS QUESTION box

Some of the people that were interviewed were playing minecraft for a shorter time than me. I started playing minecraft before the hunger bar was implanted, so I'd say like late alpha.
