You like Minecraft don't ya? That's a stupid question, this is Planet Minecraft! Of course you like Minecraft! But don't you think something is missing from Minecraft? No, not a new dimension or a red dragon or anything like that, but a STORY! Wouldn't that be fun? Well, what if I told you that we've made a story for you? Wouldn't that be awesome?! It's called Minecraft: Story Mode! Aren't we so creative!?
Well, if that was the case, then I wouldn't be typing out this blog, now would I? Despite my reluctance to even touch this game, I've mustered the courage to see what this game has to offer. So sit tight ladies and gentlemen of the PMC Community, for we are about to venture into the darkness of Minecraft: Story Mode. Oh boy.
Now, let us start with the game this is based on, good ol' Minecraft. Minecraft is a sandbox game, requiring the player to use their creativity to play. So much talent and crazy stuff has exploded out of Minecraft, like skins worthy of being in an art museum, builds that rival many great architects, and the stuff that comes out of coding is beyond words. Minecraft's popularity skyrocketed to impossible levels and the cash coming in was astounding. But of course, it wouldn't take long for someone to try and mooch off this game's prestige, as the creation of Minecraft: Story Mode unfolded.
In Minecraft, there really is no story, so the fact that fans would have the chance to have the world of Minecraft explained to them was a good selling point. So I get into it, then I notice something. Where is Steve? Or Alex? Who THE HECK are these people? I thought I was going to get some answers. But no. You're following the adventures of Jesse, who is pretty much a Minecraft-version of a Colonel Shepherd wannabe. Do you see where I'm going with this? This is a supposed point-and-click adventure game where different choices supposedly equal different outcomes. Notice how I said supposedly. Look, no matter what I choose, I still have the same outcome! I can even choose not do anything and the game will still give me the same ending. It's like the game plays itself and is trying to save you the torture of playing it. Makes you feel kinda bad for the people who made this.
Ok, so I beat the game. I honestly thought there would be more but... Wait. Episode One? EPISODE ONE!!?! Where are the other episodes?! Oh, now I see. There are new episodes released each month. I see what you're trying to do here Telltale Games. You want to make your game like a comic book. Then why not just make a comic book??? Probably be a lot more mentally stimulating than watching the game complete itself! And I'm not even gonna mention the fact that I can buy DLC for this game. Nope. Not at all. Well, at least they made it just for Minecraft and not anybody else, right? Right? Uh oh.
Where do I begin with Episode 6: A Portal to Mystery? Oh, how about the fact that the episode is more focused on Youtubers rather than the actual plot! Just a disclaimer, I don't hate any Minecraft Youtubers. It's just that I don't think I needed to pay to watch an animated story about them when I could watch their videos for free. That would be like selling bottled water next to a water fountain. It's pointless. You can also see Jesse's great detective skills here. Just superb. Would have never suspected that person. Good job, Jesse.
Well, I've had enough. You see, this is why we leave story creation to the fans. The stories for Minecraft on this site are leagues above what Minecraft: Story Mode has to offer. I bet you I could write a better story for Minecraft. (*hint* *hint*, *wink* *wink*) I would also would like to thank Josephpica for suggesting me to review this game. Thank you all for taking the time to read my review. Leave a suggestion on what I should review next and see you next time! :D

Anyway, I actually liked that they didn't use Alex, Steve, Notch, Herobrine, etc.
Considering that they are all community-made characters.
Jesse and his friends are actually made by the company, so they don't actually interfere with fan-fiction of the actual Minecraft game.
(Gosh this is the Longest Comment I've ever made! xD)
