Hey guys! Here's another blog, but now it's focusing on Rules!
So, right now I'm currently a Dev in a server called GalaxyCraft. What I've noticed lately is that people do not listen nor follow the rules! I know it's something that occurs in many environments like school, work, video games, forums, sites, etc. Well here are a few pros and cons of rules.
Pros:
1. Well first of all, it keeps you out of trouble. All rules are implemented to keep you happy and safe.
2. Without rules, the whole world would be in total Anarchy.
3. Without rules, things like Murder and Stealing would be perfectly legal.
4. Without rules, the government and the legal system would collapse and create even more of an employment issue.
There are probably a ton more Pros, but I'll keep it short an basic.
Cons:
1. Some rules are just plain ridiculous. i.e 'Do Not Walk On Grass' I mean c'mon, it's grass. It's not that big of a deal (In my opinion.)
2. Some rules just aren't backed up. There are tons of rules that are broken and no one does anything about it.
At the moment, I can't think of any more pros or cons. It may be because I'm half-asleep. If you have any suggestions leave them in the comments below.
We see people break rules, especially in Minecraft. There's 0 excuses for breaking rules. Even on PMC, people break rules everyday. Whether it's from just posting something in the forum in the wrong topic all the way to stealing someone's work.
Now, here's to the topic of stealing someone's PMC work. Would you want to be that person and have someone take credit for what you spent maybe days, weeks, months, or maybe even years to create?! My motto is ' If you don't want it to happen to you, don't make it happen to someone else. ' It's just like the saying ' If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.' Or, ' Treat someone how you want to be treated.' It's not that difficult to follow. I doubt if you made something that got over maybe 1,000+ views or under you would not want anyone to take credit for it. It's not original and it does not make you famous. It makes you hated and it ruins your chances to be something more than a thief.
Now, to the Minecraft issue. Rules are placed in servers for a reason. We don't want our servers to be hectic and filled with hackers do we? We want to make Minecraft a place to be safe and fun for everyone. I don't even know why people hack in the first place. Would you want someone to hack you and ruin a fun experience? I highly doubt it. It doesn't make you a better person and it doesn't get you farther in life. It makes you pitiful and just plain idiotic. You don't gain much from it unless you acquire credit card information and even then you're just screwing up someone's life. They're human and they don't deserve having their life ruined.
Next, the ignorant people that disregard the rules. Ignoring the rules could bring on consequences that you don't want. From being kicked, temporary banned, banned, or even all the way up to the point of being put in jail. Everything has a consequence and it's very hard to get away with something in the world we live in today. Is it really worth messing up an experience or even your life? I don't think it is. Also, when someone tells you something the first time, try to listen. They're just trying to help and keep you happy. It's very rude to not listen to someone when they tell you stop something or listen to what the rules are. Some rules can even save your life.
Sadly, there isn't much we can do to change rule breakers, hopefully they get the point when they're dished out a punishment.
