Fire… Lava everywhere… Even the air seemed to have a red tint. Steve scrolled his eyes to view his surroundings, seeing lava falls and the red netherrack ground stretch for miles, then come to a sudden stop, some ending with a complimentary lava fall. He turned around towards the portal as his companion in all of this, Alex, lept through the purple portal, landing soundly right beside him. “Hey” she said casually, opening her inventory. “Hi” replied Steve sorrowfully as he glanced once back again at the fire burning not three blocks away from him with despair. “Are you sure we have to do this?” Steve stared at his shoes “We don't necessarily need those potions for the end”. Alex pulled her sword out before closing her bag once more “I suppose not, but it will make it sure of a lot easier and besides” she said looking around, squinting as Steve did when he first entered also. “Where do we even start? Are we even safe here?” Steve complained switching to his bread and taking a quick bite. “Everywhere and no, probably not” called Alex as she sprinted off in the direction of the decline of the ‘hill’ they were on. Steve gulped the rest of his bread down. “Wait for me!!” Steve complained once more, following after Alex.
Steve panted as he slowed down to where Alex had suddenly stopped. “FINALLY! A break!” sighed Steve as he sat down and relaxed. “Shush, no why- get up! Something watching us!” Grunting, Steve slowly got up. “Well duh, this place is swarmed by Pigmen. I would be surprised if there wasn't one Pigman within 50 blocks of us right now!” Alex rolled her eyes and started walking in the same direction as before as Steve sadly watched. “Can we at least stop for a break?!?” yelled Steve. Alex slowly turned around with growing annoyance on her face. “Fine! But it's not my fault if you burn to death!” she leaned against a nearby wall and started nibbling on her baked potato from earlier that day. Steve sighed once more, but with relief this time and slowly reached into his bag for his bed. Steve leaned down to place his bed as Alex's gaze scanned over him and quickly changed from annoyance to fear. “You idiot! Do not move one more muscle!” Alex quickly bounded off the wall and toward his direction. “Can't stop me from resting” he grumbled as he placed his bed and start to lay down.”No don't!” Concern was strong in her voice, but Steve cared not, only for his long awaited rest. Everything changed from calm to chaos within the moment he lay down. Alex screamed as the area around Steve exploded, launching him diagonally into the air, directly over the nearby lava stream. Alex rushed over in an attempt to somehow break his fall, succeeding, but in a way which ended up with Steve in the lava stream. “It's okay! The lava stopped the fall dama-” Steve vanished, leaving his burning items in the lava, and a death message at the bottom of Alex’s vision. “Idiot…” she sighed and slowly made her way back to the portal…
Alex trudged lonely by herself on her way back to the portal, not seeing anything worth investigating on the way. She slung off her bag, searching her bag for any sign of her leftovers, only to come back up with a fist full of crumbs. Sighing, she let her hand drop by her side. “I'm almost there anyways… i can restock at base…” she said out loud to herself, almost as if trying to comfort herself over Steve's death. It wasn't even Steve dying that bothered her. It was because of how he died, and what had happened when he actually did die. His ‘stupidity’ was very annoying for the most part, but it too endangered hers and his lives. She had known that this would happen one day but this was the worst time. Steve had been carrying three different enchanted books, protection armor, and the 16 blocks of obsidian and flint and steel in case of emergency. It wouldn't be hard to regain the flint and steel, nor would the actual armor, but the enchantments he had on the armor, and the rare obsidian. She growled once more at Steve's stupidity and continued on.
Alex raised her head at the sound of the humming of the portal, smiling once more. Turning around once more only to see a lone a white block floating in the air with a sad face on it only 10 blocks behind her she made her way up the hill. She then realized what it was that she just saw and started to unsheathe her sword, but only to be too late. The Ghast fireball damaged her, threw her back, and also managed to just be in range of the portal, destroying the gateway. She coughed, and whipped her arm around, her fist grasping the handle of her sword, standing up. She ready her sword as the Ghast circle her, threatening to shoot at any second. The ghost then turned, as if to trick her, turned back with amazing speed and fired the fireball. She raised her sword, but then suddenly she felt something in her back. She gasp as it hit her forwards, weakening and poisoning her, as she fell prone to the projectile incoming. She looked up, knowing it was too late, yet realizing something. She had been stabbed by a wither skeleton! She looked behind her, at the purple bridge, towering into the sky, when it hit. Alex's hearts dropped to 0 as she vanished, leaving her items to be burned in the after fire.
The Ghast seemed to hum in satisfaction as the nether returned to silence, with only the faintest sound of burning in the background....
