Hey It's Rusty! Here with my most humble opinion!
Before I start, I'd just like to say thank you all for 250 subscribers ;) Cookies for all of you!

Without the further restriction of artificial micro organisms, let's get started!

Activity? What is this, Facebook!?

The first 'feature' I'd like to is the new 'Activity button'. This is basically a button that allows you to see the recent activity of a certain person, which most oddly gives a node to that popular social network...
facebook-iconjpg
Anyway's, I'm not sure if you can see a meaning for this, but the only way I see this being used in a useful is behavior is (and no, the answer is not to stalk someone) checking what comments a hacker might of put on you ;)
It's also always good to see if you REALLY did diamond that epic castle or if you mindless forgot (like me, lol).

All-in-all I really don't believe this feature was 100% necessary, but it's still pretty cool.

Oh no! Paril is bleeding out!

Now if you were lucky enough to be in chat when the rare event of Paril AND Cyprezz both in chat at the same time, you probably were one to notice that Paril has 'got red on him'...
This sum's up what the chat was feeling ;-; (As pointed out by a member)
swLipng
(Credits to 'Maddie' for the image, BTW)

Woh! Paril now has the title Developer on his account page! Ik what your going to say, "Wait, wasn't Paril basically a developer anyway?", yes, somewhat true, but I imagine he may do it on a much larger scale now.

Conclusion, it seems like Zaralith is now the only super mod now (he's a long wolf, or a lone world destroyer) ;-;

What's this!? I can set no comment's for a post!? *set's no comments for all his noob posts*

A grand feature which I'm sure lot's will use, the ability to turn off comments... I'm not entirely sure why you'd need this but here's some of my thoughts.

-Maybe your post is really bad and you don't want people hating on you?
-Maybe you just don't want comments on your post's
-Maybe you don't like feedback
-Maybe you like annoying people that really want to comment
-Maybe you are 'Holding off' on comments from a post, like if it's no longer in development or something

Idk, these are possible reasons why you would need this feature.
It still is a pretty cool feature, even if I don't know what it's used for!

OMGness! The new Manage Subscribers looks awesome! And new subscribe button?

Probably the most noted change (I mean, apart from the whole Paril being an Admin thing, that was pretty obvious),
The subscribe button got a new fashion statement, see it realized that 2014 is almost upon us, and it needs a new style or else people will get bored of her! Now, at first glance you'll be like "NUU!!! They took away the unsubscribe button!" Well no it's still there... just hidden ;D

Apart from that, you can now go to 'Manage Subscribers' directly from the subscriber page. I think this a really nice feature because then people won't have to navigate all the way just to get there.

You can also now remove subscribers! My question is why? Your question is also why? Well if someone is stalking you I think it's a good idea to unsubscribe them from you and block them o-o... ya... and all your over obsessed fan girl's/guy's XD...

And, in Manage subscribers you'll see it tells you your latest subscribers and when they subbed. This is personal a feature that I have long awaited for, because I'm always like "Who the heck subbed me! AGH!!!"

Conclusion

In a final conclusion, I have some last thoughts...

Ok I missed something, Schemagic has come to texturepacks! Yay! This should make it easier for TP artist's viewers see the pack better and eaiser, as well to freely roam and test if it's worth diamonding and downloading without need of of actually downloading it.

I believe PMC updates are very good for the community (Because chat shouldn't be the only thing that get's a 2.0),
still, a bit long overdue, I believe updates are really cool to PMC, and I hope there are many more cool features added in the future!

~Rusty~
CreditMaddie, and ofc credit's to Paril and Cyprezz for making PMC awesome!

Yah I don't like this activity thing that tells EVERYONE EVERYTHING, Cyprezz should add settings so we can allow certain things on our activity. This is probably showing on my activity page RIGHT now...

Ability to turn off the comments is an awful addition to the site.
This encourages users posting infected downloads as members cannot comment saying something such as "It's an executable, do not run this!" or anything to warn members.

Sure they can report it, but by the time a staff reads it and removes the post it's already too late for members who aren't very tech savvy and aware of the infections around the internet.

-Maybe your post is really bad and you don't want people hating on you?
Block the people who comment bad things and/or don't post poorly created content

-Maybe you just don't want comments on your post's
Don't post your submission on a site that revolves around the community and relies on reviews/comments

What if we make it a requirement to be lvl 2 before you can disable comments?

I personally would suggest level 20, which is what I believe the level for using adfly links is.
This way you know people aren't going to just post a few small skins/texture packs to boost their level, then drop malicious stuff.
20 may be a bit high, but I just suggest not adding it all together.

If I can just add in my opinion here, I personally like the option to be able to disable comments; and while I do agree it can cause problems, I think that everyone should have the ability to do it. Some people, for a start, simply do not like feedback. While I do understand it is a community that includes feedback, I feel the use of the wording 'strongly revolves around reviews/comments' is incorrect. Some users of this site do discourage feedback on their posts, and while the reasoning behind this is beyond me, the ability to disable comments simply makes this process a lot easier. This community is based around Minecraft related content, and in my opinion, nothing more.

Furthermore, as anyone who has ever posted something shall know; people do comment. If you post a mod that has gone out of developmentand will no longer receive support, simply updating your descriptionon that mod is not enough. There will always be people who will comment, and this feature is a way to reduce that.

Though this feature may not be commonly used, it is still good to have this available to anyone who does want it.
There's plenty of other sites that have this option but at the same time revolve around talking. Most popular examples are Deviantart and YouTube.

YouTube and Deviantart are also sites that are infested with malicious content and most people who upload stuff disable comments for this exact reason.
Idk, 90% of the videos that I've seen had disabled comments because of flame wars or repeatedly asking the same questions. Actually, it's probably 100%. Even the worst and "malicious" videos had comments allowed. Same goes for deviantart. "No comments" is set on fight-inducing stamps and sometimes on very popular art, I guess not to be spammed with notifications.

You must have only watched 5 videos on YouTube in your internet lifetime if you think 90% of the videos disable comments. No comments indicate infections. Some videos allow commenting if they promote malware (by scams), but have you ever tried to comment? The video creators make new accounts and post "Wow this works! thanks man!" etc to get people to believe its legit. If you try to post, it will say "The videos owner has to accept your comment before it will show up"
Same is for deviantart.

Nobody, and I can't say this more, nobody blocks comments because of flaming or hate.
Whatever. I've seen many videos and artworks that have disabled comments and are posted by trusted users.
This is a site to upload your work, it doesn't necessarily mean someone wants to get comments and talk to people. Even if comments couldn't be disabled, the OP can delete any comments. And it's not like people even comment on submissions that are not posted in the chat.

Even if comments couldn't be disabled, the OP can delete any comments.
And this here is what should stay. There already was a problem with many malicious programs being posted here before this new disable commenting feature was enabled.
This just makes it easier to infect people here as people can't look at the comments. They try downloading it, running it, and bam, infected.

Before you or anyone else says to "just scan it", I will point out some reasons why this doesn't just work as easy as you think.
For one, this is a site targeting young users. Many young users have little computer experience and don't know how to scan a file, let alone know the different between an exe file and say, a png file. (Besides the obvious)
Secondly, viruses, trojans, malware, whatever you choose can by FUD. This allows them to go under the radar and not be detected by antivirus/malware software.
This is an easy site to infect people on. Post a FUD keylogger on the mods section with some appealing screenshots, a detailed description, and a legitimate looking file.
Nobody can comment, so you're free to infect members until someone eventually reports it, which it will not happen as often as if comments were allowed.
Then, there is the wait for the post to be reviewed and deleted for being infected.
Account is banned, a new one is made, cycle starts over.

Disabling comments is an awful addition to this site.
