Hey it's bgwoo here in my first ever Team Entity blog. This blog is about what new Planet Minecrafters should know about before uploading anything. I'm giving this advice based my previous experiences with PMC and things I've heard about on PMC. Let's start.

A: Setting Up Your Profile

1. Choosing a Name.
If you have already chosen A name, this tip probably won't do anything. Your name is important, as this is how other Planet Minecrafters will refer to you by. I highly recommend to not choose names based off famous Minecrafters. Examples: notch35672, disco_69, hypixelfan, yogscast4life. Choose an original name which you like and isn't stupid. No swearing or rude words/phrases is allowed in your name.

2. Change your profile pic!!!
One of the first things you should do when you join PMC is change your Profile pic. Why? So people don't think you're new. People will think you have nothing on PMC and won't bother checking out your profile or subscribe. If you want to get popular on PMC, you don't want to have the default Steve head profile pic. Like your name, make sure your profile pic is not inappropriate or offensive.

3. Edit your profile description.
If you want to be a true PMC-er you should edit your profile description. So when people come to your profile they can see a little about you (What type stuff you make, who you work with, etc.) and your Youtube, Twitter, etc. You can also add a goals list as well. I have a goals list on my profile (bgwoo).

B: Uploading

4. Read the Rules!!!
Now that you've set up your profile, you're probably wanting to upload something. WAIT!!! You must read the Site Rules and Rules of Submissions first. Read those first then come back to this blog.

Now you've read the rules you probably should know everything about uploading and the site rules but I'll go over a couple of most important things.
  • Upload your own creations only (Read more in the rules).
  • NO SECOND ACCOUNTS
  • Don't post one thing more then once. So no Server Spamming.
  • Do not upload seeds or flatmaps.
  • No X-ray packs or one edit texture packs (Read more in the rules).
  • Low-detailed skins are not allowed (Read more in the rules).
  • Skin parts not created by you are not allowed.
  • No cracked or hamachi servers.
  • One upload per server (even if multiple owners).
  • No single wallpapers/art blogs. Post them as a compliation.
  • Do not do rant posts about a user on PMC (that counts Moderators too).
  • Do not do recruitments posts or anything that belongs in the forums. (Read more in the rules). Team Entity made that mistake...
  • Do not upload small mods: that includes Soft Obsidian, More Stackables, More Crafting, Fast Pigs, Name edits, etc.
  • Do not upload mods which were made with Mod Makers. <-------
  • Modpacks are not allowed
  • Do not post servers in the blog section.

5. My Tips

  • Please just don't upload skins that are just... crap. Please don't do random scribbles.
  • Please do not upload spam in the blogs, it just makes the blog section look bad.
  • For god's sake stop with the simple biomes and ores mods. They were good 12 months ago but not anymore. Especially stop with Butter Mods.
  • Upload quality stuff
6. Put Time into your work

You might be rushing to upload something on PMC and earn XP because you want to level up but slow down, that's not the point of PMC. Planet Minecraft is for sharing your Minecraft Creations and checking out other people's submissions. XP is for seeing who has got the most Diamonds, downloads, Favourites and views. It's like views on YouTube. Don't think uploading 100 things will level you up to Level 50 in one day. To earn XP you must show you deserve it. And at the end of the day your XP is just a number. So put effort into your submissions.

Also, don't think you're going to get Insta-famous on Planet Minecraft. There are over 800,000 people on Planet Minecraft and half of them are also wanting to become famous on Planet Minecraft. The thing is: You've got to work yourself up to it. Once you start uploading things, people who are interested in your submissions and want to see more will subscribe and then the subscribers will see your new submission on their front page. It will take a couple of months, but you will make friends along the way (I have).

7.Presenting your submission.
Don't upload your submission with a regular screenshot and short description. Take the time to make a proper front picture/banner with Paint.NET or Photoshop and write a detailed description explaining what your submission is. After all, people want to know what they're downloading.

C: Post-Uploading

8: Replying to Comments
If you get a comment saying like: "Good Job, love the detail!", Don't just sit there thinking "Yea, whateva". Get up and reply to them saying something like "Thanks, it took me a long time".
If you get a comment saying something like: "Good Job, but I think you should made it a bit detailed". Don't say back "Shut up, I bet you couldn't do anything as good". Be a good person and take it as advice "Thanks for the advice".
If you get a comment saying something like: "Yo man this is a piece of s**t, u suck" just delete it and add the person to your ignore list. Don't reply back.

9: A moderator removes your submission.
If a moderator removes your submission this is what NOT to do:
  • Go to their profile and comment on one of their submissions saying "WHY DID YOU REMOVE MY F**KING SKIN. YOU HAVE NO LIFE. MY SKIN WAS 100% ORIGINAL. MY SKINS ARE BETTER THAN YOURS. GET A DAM LIFE"
  • Go to the profile and flag all of their submissions. What the hell is that going to do?
This is what to do:
  • Read the reason why your submission was removed. If it was true, get over it. If it was false, go to the moderators profile then click Send Message. Explain in the nicest way possible why your submission was original and how it was all a big misunderstanding. Wait for the moderator to reply back. If he still says it was unoriginal/spam, just get over it. Life goes on. If he forgives you, say thanks.

10: Updating your project
If you have added something new to your submission you can update it. Only update it if it's a real update. By update I mean editing your Submission (Examples: Added a Building to town, Added Copper Tools, Edited Stone). This is not a update!: Added more text, Bump or Added More Tags. For blogs you are allowed to update saying: Changed Picture, Added Text, etc. You are allowed to bump servers by clicking bump submission under update log.

D: Being active in the community

11: Community
Don't be afraid to go browsing on Planet Minecraft. If something is good, give it a diamond. If a person has good stuff, subscribe. Post topics in the forums, make friends on PMC. Join societies, work with other PMC-ers. The possibilities of PMC is endless.

12: Flagging
If you notice something is unoriginal (there is a difference between unoriginal and inspired), spam, mistake, etc. Don't be afraid to click the flag. Make sure your report is detailed.

So those are my tips for new Planet Minecrafters. Even if you've been on Planet Minecraft for a while, that doesn't mean you can't start using those tips. If you have anymore tips leave a comment below and I might add them. The Team Entity members and I will be adding onto this soon.

If you Liked this blog, why not leave a diamond, favourite and subscribe to Team Entity and why not subscribe to me (bgwoo)?

Thanks,
bgwoo and Team Entity

Nice blog! I really liked the part in which you explained the username part. I totally agree. When I first set up my Minecraft, I just wanted a name that wasn't taken, so I just put in a random name and hit "join". Big mistake on my part, now I have a stupid name in Minecraft, but enough ranting about myself. When I read the part on "uploading", I basically just smiled to myself. I totally agree with you and I think that there should be more people who think this way. Anywho, a great overall blog and keep up the great work!

Re 1: People definitely underestimate how important a good username is. If you want to be known as memorable and unique, your username should be as well!

Re 6: Another important thing that you sort of touched on is that people shouldn't *expect* to get famous or feel that they *deserve* it. The fact of the matter is, we have around 800,000 members, you're not going to be the next Leostereo or Lynchyinc. The problem arises when these kids get mad when they're not getting the recognition they feel they deserve. They start blaming others (hence all the rants about 'high level members' who are 'stealing' the fame they 'deserve' away from them) but never actually put in the time and effort required to actually become well known. This sort of thing happens way more than it should.

Re 9: You know what's really fun? When butthurt kids actually go through your (the moderator's) profile and report all their stuff because they're mad at them (because it's not like we can dismiss invalid reports or anything xD). Another thing that happens way more than it should.
