Level 17 : Journeyman Unicorn
Another short story. This is made up and not relevant to Minecraft. Theme is horror. Enjoy!
Ravyn Cross. It sounds like one of those names in some religious book, or even a horror one. It wasn't her fault she'd been cursed from the very start. Maybe if her parents had more consideration about their daughter, she wouldn't have lived a life of hell. Miss Cross was always different from the others, even her own parents.
"Quelle est ta couleur préféré?" (What is your favourite colour?) Melanie asked Ravyn one day. They'd been playing hopskotch on playground at school. The two were around 7 or 8 years old and they both contrasted terribly with eachother. Melanie Belrose was a pretty, petite thing, with golden-wheat locks and wide, baby blue eyes fringed with dark eyelashes. She was one of the 'popular' kids in their class, and was friends with everybody. Except from Ravyn.

Ravyn was quite tall for her age, and she was extremely pale with black hair and dark bleak eyes. She rarely spoke to anyone, and when she did, it was normally something rude. She was the cleverest in the class yet never participated, only talking when asked a question. The other kids detested her - they were jealous of her abnormal cleverness and her beautiful features. They always attempted to insult or trip her in the corridors or outside when the teachers weren't looking.

"Noir." (Black) Ravyn replied bleakly, as she continued jumping on one leg. Melanie's face contorted with pure disgust and was tempted to push the strange girl over.

"Je deteste noir, c'est laid. Je pense que rose ou bleu est beau. Noir est stupide!" (I hate black, it's ugly. I think that pink or blue is beautiful. Black is stupid!) Melanie blurted this out as she finished hopping across the hopskotch. Ravyn had already completed it and she folded her arms, snorting in disgust at this outburst.

"Fiche-moi la paix, puis! T'es ennuyeux!" (Leave me alone, then! You're annoying!) Ravyn shouted at the girl before pushing her away. In retaliation, Melanie shoved her over before running away. After that argument, Ravyn was tormented every single day by her classmates and others. What did she do in response to that? Nothing.
"Ravyn, what is the answer?" Miss Ivy threw a pencil at the sleeping girl. They were in Room 17, English, and the whole class were smirking over Ravyn's laziness. She was sprawled out across her desk, her long black hair covering her face. The girl beside Ravyn, Melanie, hooted out laughter before grabbing her water bottle and emptying the contents all over Ravyn.

"AAGGGHHH!" The girl jumped out of her seat in astonishment, slipping over the water that leeked onto the polished floors. Without warning, she fell forwards abruptly, faceplanting the ground with a painful smack. The class were silent for a few moments, before all chortling. Even Miss Ivy had a small smile on her face. Melanie - however - had a cheshire's cat grin, her pearly white teeth glinting in the light. Bending over slightly, she grabbed hold of Ravyn's hair and yanked her backwards. Too slow to grasp the moment to stay upright, Ravyn fell on her back, lying in a puddle of water.

"Oops, pardon," Melanie said sweetly, and the other students giggled. Eventually, Ravyn got up and slumped back onto her seat, her hair drenched, hanging all over her pale face. She looked ready to murder, but she also looked terrified mixed with upset. The sad side won out and tears soon seeped down her face. Unfortunately, she was too late to wipe them off and the boy beside her saw.

"REGARDER!" (LOOK!) He screamed out, jabbing a finger at Ravyn.

"Tomas, parles un Anglais!" (Tomas, speak English!) Miss Ivy replied sharply, before turning back to the board. "Now, Ravyn, as I asked, what is the answer to this?"

She focused on the board, flicking some damp tendrils out of her face. In small writing, a question asked: "Who wrote the book Frankenstein's Monster?"

Oh, Ravyn knew this. Over the holidays, as she had no friends, she'd browsed the whole readling list that the school recommended for the pupils to read. Frankenstein's Monster was written by Mary Shelley. She knew that.
"Mary Shelley, miss," Ravyn responded in excitement. The teacher merely raised her eyebrows, as if mocking or making fun of the girl. The rest of the class looked furious that Ravyn knew the answer and waited hungrily for Miss Ivy's retort. Much to their dismay, she had none on her tongue. Since their beloved teacher refused to do it, the students glanced towards their admirable leader, Melanie Belrose. She'd experienced Ravyn's supposed 'nastiness' when they were 8 years old, and reportedly Ravyn had beaten her up. If any pupils said otherwise to this statement, they'd recieve a painful punishment.

Melanie glowered at Miss Ivy, before fulfilling the duty of her followers and turned to Ravyn. "You're such a sadistic thing, all you do is read and stalk people. I'll get you after class, creep," she hissed with venom. Much to her triumph, the girl blushed and ignored her, her head bent down in shame. The rest of the class grinned proudly at their leader before turning back to the board.

The bell rang and everyone packed their things up, before heading outside. As Ravyn made her way out of the school, a hand grabbed hold of her shirt and dragged her into the alleyway, hidden behind some dustbins. She was shoved against a wall with force, and was too dazed to realise the punches that rained down on her. In front of her, stood Melanie, her face alight with malice and hatred as she continued with the hits. Some of her friends stood around them, a few cheering and laughing, whilst others made sure no one would come into the alleyway.

"S-s..top.." Ravyn managed a weak plead, blood running down her face. The red liquid crowded inside her mouth, choking her oesophugus, her nose broken, and who knows how many more bones that had been snapped. Melanie didn't seem to stop, the girl kicking at her whilst she lay, broken on the floor.

"I'm going to KILL you, Ravyn Cross," she hissed, her face red. "I hate you, and you deserve to DIE." However, Melanie's wishes were not completed, as suddenly someone had overheard the violent commotion. With a few shouts, she was forced to run after her friends as they abandoned Ravyn's weak body in the darkened alleyway. As her bruised eyes closed, she rejoined with noir.
