Hello, your here because you wanna release your creativity into the world of Minecraftia, right? well here are my steps to becoming an amazing Skinner!

1. Get some software! Paint.net is my personal favourite because it can do almost everything photoshop can do, except... its completely free! :D another good program is MCSkin3D, this is a skinning program which shows you what your skin will look like on a character in real time, you can also draw straight onto the character by rotating the camera and choosing your colours!

2. Now, you need to get a base file to make your skin from, you need the original "Steve" skin which you can get from minecraft.net, press profile then download the reference skin.

3. It's time.. to release your inner EPICNESS! if you have an idea what you want your skin to look like, just sit down and let your creativity flow, if you have absolutely no idea what you're doing, and are staring at a blank steve skin then the thing I like to do is browse the web for inspiration, think of the theme you want your skin to be, Real person, Monster, a pmc skin contest, Astronaut, anything! then search for that on Google images, the things you see are likely to inspire you then you can start making your skin. ( make sure when you first make your skin make it with block colours, don't shade or anything like that, we'll get to that later )

4. Now we can get to work on making your skin beautiful! :) A way I like to do this is to imagine a light source somewhere above your character ( this is a lot easier in MCSkin3D ) and start to shade all the parts that would be shadowed in real life, this adds a lot more realism to your character and makes it look so much nicer than a completely flat picture of whats ment to be a human, or monster etc.

5. Now its time to release your skin into the real world :D

Here are a few DON'TS for making skins:

1. don't steal skins, this will get you nothing but hate mail and your skin will be removed
2. don't download skins, edit them a tiny bit then reupload, this is also like stealing and will make the original creator mad.
3. Always shade your skins, i hate block colour skins and most of the minecraft community does

Please diamond if you liked and maybe throw a sub out there :) also feel free to give your opinion down there in the comments

5 Steps an average noob does:
Step 1: They get MS paint
Step 2: Gets steve skin
Step 3: Change clothes and hairs, add a bit decors.
Step 4: (Oh nvm)
Step 5: Upload everywhere saying its cool

Hey, I need help. I made an Spaceman skin in the 3D thing, and the helmet is not showing up. Can you help me? Link to skin is here www.planetminecraft.com/skin/astronaught-1424655/.
I know this is a REALLY late reply but i found out what is wrong with it, if the helmet is completely filled in so you cant see whats underneath, the pmc preview skips it, it happened to my jacko skin
I'll try it.
Thanks for this tut, helped a lot
thanks
