Hey everyone! Chron here with a rushed entry substituting for either HappyKeysTV or Yuki in the LoST contest this week. I'll post a link to the poll when there is one. Hope y'all enjoy! The theme was Alternate History, and this tells the tale of the world without Abraham Lincoln, playing off of the Vampire Slayer movie. So, in an essence, an alternate history of an alternate history.
-The Diary of Frederick Douglass-

They’ve risen, the untamed beasts. We’ve got nothing within our realm of knowledge to combat these other-worldly… things? They pretend to have emotion, to be like us, to even be us. But they know in their hearts, based off of the assumption that they even possess such delicate machines, that their facades will fall… But not before they’ve carried out their plan. Could we imagine their plans? Could we even hope to grasp the faintest clutches of their psyche? I believe it beyond our mortal realm, our mortal realm of thought. South Carolina… You must be mad. I envy you.

The Confederacy is growing every day, but they gain no power, no strength. This force drains from us our everything… Our mind, our soul, our… Spirit. Our spirit for life, for love, all turned to ashes, as discarded powder from a cannon. I could not, and shall not, stand to see this Union be destroyed by not our brothers, but by a force we cannot name. For our brothers can learn to understand, but these beasts know not of surrender. There is but one hope, that we may take our shreds of patriotism and be one, united against what we do not know. We know the bounds of slavery, of the states, of economic oppression… But we know not what these dark angels possess, nor what they want from us.

Our last ties, as quarreling brothers, have split, shattered into fragments of a fallen liberty. We cannot hope to overcome this madness, nor can we tame it, negotiate with it, manipulate it for the good of the country, at least what remains… We could never fathom the larger picture, but rather our own personal gains are all that truly mattered. Had we been united, had we come together, had we set aside our differences… Had we a leader that would fight. Had we a leader that would stand. Had we a leader that knew, that cared, that loved… I thought ours did. He does nothing but let us slip away. Surely, before we are gone...

The Union has fallen into their hands. It is by sheer liberty and liberty alone that I am able to write this. Their fangs… I can’t imagine a world without them. It burns just envisioning their cold skin… Surrounded by insanity, human nature enveloped by the pale darkness. The world has been overcome. I can’t see the Confederacy surviving the onslaught… They will rise against. The silver pierces through their malice, and passes clean through, pointless and painless. It is as though our civilization was built without them in mind. Not a force in the world… Not a force in the world. Why didn’t our president do anything? Why did he just… let us die? Let us be consumed by this dark force? Booth, did you not love us? Did you have… Nothing to live for?
