Yes, I used the word pseudo. Google it if you don't know what it means (which you should).

Anyway, I think everyone here can name at least one survival map right off the top of their head (if they haven't made at least three themselves). I think I speak for most people when I say the survival market is completely saturated by horrible rip-offs of skyblock/survival island (skyblock wasn't even that good of a concept in the first place). But that's not the only saturated map "market", there's another one in my opinion:
Parkour maps.
Now, don't get me wrong, I love parkour maps. I make them myself. But recently, there's been a flood of subpar parkour maps all over MCforums and PMC, although PMC to a slightly lesser extent (people feel content to share their random builds rather than maps here, more often). And by subpar I mean incredibly easy and much too short. Again, don't get me wrong, there are good parkour maps out there, but then comes another problem: 99% of them are way too short, and I understand that most people probably made their map in about 20-30 minutes, and that's sort of disappointing, because in those small maps I actually see some talent in the mapmaker. (Who often doesn't ever release another map, ever, again).
But for every good parkour map, there's about 3 five-minute, poorly storyboarded (if it even has a story, which isn't really necessary for a parkour map, honestly), ridiculously-easy, quite frankly, slop of a map.
I cite one good map (even if it is a WIP) that is way too short, which sucks:
Extreme Parkour by Thomas...whatever those numbers are at the end of his name, I'm too lazy to find them.
Again, I loved the map, but it's too short.

So, maybe this isn't so much of a rant about Survival Maps=Parkour maps in terms of saturation, but more of screaming in the ears of mapmakers and saying "IF YER GONNA MAKE A PARKOUR MAP, AT LEAST PUT SOME EFFORT INTO IT, MAKE IT LONGER, ETC, ETC" (yes, caps completely necessary). Because some of these parkour maps could be the next Minecraft's Edge. Could.
