This is part 2 of the Shovel Knight VS Shantae Blog. The OG script was too big to fit into one blog. PLEASE read that before leaving a vote here!!! This individual blog DOES NOT contain all the info and research for Shovel Knight, Shantae, or the matchup itself.

As we were saying…
Tinkerbat: In this form, Shantae can climb walls, glide through the air, charge forward like an elephant, and also gain a scimitar for combat.
Crab: Allows Shantae to breath underwater and even summon waterfalls above her opponent before dashing through them to deal some damage with her crab claws.
Bat: Allows Shantae to hover in the air and move forward. Bat Sonar grants her with greater vision in the dark and can even cover other areas in darkness as long as she is still in the form.
Mouse: This form allows Shantae to squeeze through tiny spaces and even perform her most powerful ability of all… Mouse Bite!
Blobfish Dance: Turns Shantae into a blobfish, allowing her to bounce around. Btw she has to trade Obliterate to get this, so…
Gemjug Dance: Turns Shantae into a jug of gems. She needs to trade Warp Dance in order to obtain this, but unlike Blobfish Dance, there is a benefit to this. It allows her to gain more gems.
Fusion Dances
In Shantae and the Seven Sirens, Shantae obtains fusion stones which contain the power of the other half-genies. Using these gives her access to different forms, each of which have a plethora of abilities.
Seer Dance: This Shantae’s first form. In this form, she can reveal both hidden pathways and invisible enemies.
Refresh Dance: This is the second form Shantae obtains. In this form, she mostly heals, but she can also revitalize plants and people, giving them more life energy. It can also heal petrification, cure poisonous objects, and damage the undead.
Spark Dance: This is Shantae’s third form. It allows her power machines and attack enemies with a screen-wide barrage of electricity.
Quake Dance: This is Shantae’s fourth and final form. With it, she gains flaming wings and a giant hammer and can also open previously blocked pathways, reveal hidden statues, unearth treasure, even cause a screen-wide earthquake which deals heavy damage to any enemy on the ground, though its abilities are negligent against any airborne enemies.
Fire Magic
Aside from transforming with her dances, Shantae also has a few other abilities with her magic, such as the ability to shoot magic flames from her hand.
Fireball: Fires a single fireball.
Spitfire: Fires a group of three fireballs.
Flamethrower: Fires a large torrent of flames.
OTHER ABILITIES:
Here are a few more abilities Shantae can use.
Attract Magic: Attracts dropped items like a magnet.
Magic Fill: Magic meter automatically refills.
Back Dash: Shantae dashes backwards.
Power Kick: Shantae performs a powerful kick.
WISH GRANTING
It shouldn’t really be too surprising that Shantae has this ability considering she’s half genie. She once used this ability to wish all of Scuttle Town back to normal after it had been turned into a base of operations by the Battle Baron, though it’s important to note that we do not know the full extent of these abilities, and Shantae herself has never used this ability on an enemy in combat.
Stats & Scaling
STATS:
Physical Strength & Power
• (as seen above) can move large stone slabs with her hair whip.
• can break steal with her hair whips. (Wall Level)
• when in her elephant form, she can smash through large stone blocks, and when stomping, she can cause shockwaves that break the stone blocks above her. (at least Wall Level)

Risky Boots
This scaling should be obvious, as Risky Boots is literally Shantae’s rival who consistently fights her in duels. Given the amount of times Shantae has defeated her, it’s no question she should be comparable in strength and speed.

• tanked the explosion of her Tinker Brain after it was destroyed by Shantae. (17.5 Kilotons of TNT)
The Pirate Master
Shantae was able to trade blows with this frightening creature even when she had lost her magic. This is important because it took the combined power of all the genies in Sequin Land to seal him away into a grave, yet Shantae was able to fight him on equal footing and even overwhelmed after her genie magic returned.

Seven Sirens
While on a mission to find her missing half-genie friends, Shantae had to face off against six of the Seven Sirens, meaning she would scale to the feats of all those she defeated.
Water Lily Siren
• can move large spikes at high speeds.
Coal Siren
• possibly survived an exploding mech.
• shook an entire room by jumping.
Tube Worm Siren
• when moving out of the ground, causes a small cave to shake.
Angel Fish Siren
• can move large stone walls with her magic.
Octo Siren
• Is part of a massive octopus.
Empress Siren
Empress Siren is the leader of the Seven Sirens and is known as “The Queen of the Seven Seas,” Even after she had absorbed the absorbed the life force of both Risky Boots and several half-genies, Shantae was capable of defeating her. Not even Empress Siren growing to the size of a mini kaiju could stop Shantae from defeating her.

BEFORE THE VERDICTS… (FAQ)
• DO SHOVEL KNIGHT & SHANTAE HAVE LIGHTSPEED REACTIONS???
If you payed attention to both Shovel Knight and Shantae’s Stats & Scaling section, you may have noticed that both were given possible lightspeed laser timing feats. (Shantae with her laser dodging feat (30% SoL) and Shovel Knight with his scaling to King Knight, who can dodge lasers and move in tandem with light orbs (65.2% SoL) ) So, what exactly do we mean when we say POSSIBLE lightspeed reactions?
Well, it was already mentioned in the G1 Blog, but to sum it up, neither of these light attacks actually show the properties required to prove they’re moving at the speed of light. They move in a straight line and don’t explode, but so do plasma cutters, and those are not lightspeed. To put it simply, while it’s possible that these could be lightspeed reaction feats, the safest bet is to say they’re not.
• CAN SHANTAE WISH SOMEONE OUT OF EXISTENCE???
This is one of the biggest (and possibly most important) contentions in the debate. “Could Shantae wish Shovel Knight out of existence?” To be entirely honest, there’s no clear cut answer to this, as while we know Shantae has Wish Granting powers, she’s never used it in a combat scenario. In this section, I will be summarizing the arguments brought up on both sides.
[NOTE: This isn’t literally what they said, just a basic summary of the main points.]
Kiryutojo’s Argument FOR Existence Erasure:
Shantae doesn’t use this power in game because it would be out of character for her to do so. It’s one thing to simply defeat an enemy, but to erase their entire body and soul is another thing. Shantae would likely see that as a step too far.
Since Shantae has the powers of a Genie, it’s logical that she should be capable of replicating an ability they’re famously known for.
Also, while it may normally be out of character for her to do this, this a DEATH BATTLE, meaning there’s no holding back for Shantae.
The Last Kirbalorian’s Argument AGAINST Existence Erasure:
To say Shantae can simply erase someone from existence would be ignoring the specific details of her character and abilities.
While Genies may be famously known for their power to grant any wish, Shantae is a HALF-Genie, meaning it’s logical to assume she doesn’t have all the same abilities as a normal Genie.
Using one instance of Shantae using her Wish Granting powers to make some of Barron’s forces go away to say she could just poof anyone or anything she wanted out of existence would be a No Limits Fallacy.
Furthermore, it would add a plethora of plot holes to Shantae’s story, as saying Shantae could simply erase someone from existence due to having Wish Granting powers would imply that she basically has full control over her powers to wish whatever she wanted to happen into existence. If that was the case, then Shantae could have simply wished every one of her friend to safety, wish her enemies were defeated, or maybe wish she didn’t have any physical limitations, but she doesn’t. With all this in mind, it’s extremely unlikely that Shantae has the power to simply poof Shovel Knight out of existence.
• IS SHOVEL KNIGHT’S KRATOS SCALING VIABLE???
Ah yes, the Kratos scaling…
As mentioned in part 1 of this blog, Shovel Knight once fought the God of War, better known as Kratos. This could imply that Shovel Knight could potentially compare to several different cosmic feats performed by the Greek gods of mythology, one of which could even grant him Universal levels of power. However, regardless of whether or not Shovel Knight actually compares to Kratos’ canonical power level, this feat still highlights the fact that Shovel Knight is far more than just a man, further supporting his scaling to other characters like The Enchantress and the Mirror of Fate.
But anyway, to answer the question above… YES. You can certainly make a feasible argument that Shovel Knight proves his superiority to Kratos in their fight; HOWEVER, whether or not this means he can actually compare to the feats Kratos pulls off in his own games is far more contentious. I will be listing the arguments FOR and AGAINST Kratos scaling.
[NOTE: Similar to the previous FAQ, this isn’t me literally quoting them. It’s just me trying to word their arguments a specific way for this blog.]
Kiryutojo’s Argument AGAINST Kratos Scaling:
Shovel Knight obviously shouldn’t scale to Kratos’ power in the actual God of War games, as Shovel Knight can only get this boss fight in the PlayStation version of the game, likely implying that it’s a specific alternate timeline rather than a consistent timeline in the Shovel Knight story.
Even if we were to say this is canon to Shovel Knight and God of War, it’s still very possible that Kratos wasn’t going all out in the fight, as we can clearly see that he’s the one who calls off the fight. He even compares Shovel Knight to Hades, a god we know Kratos kills.
The Last Kirbalorian’s Argument FOR Kratos Scaling:
To start off we know this is canon because the director of God of War literally said it is. This is his exact statement.
“He appears on his journey from Greece to Scandinavia. So that was actually a part of the God of War history where he suddenly became 8-bit... it's canon. Wait for the box set."
On top of that, both Yacht Club Games & PlayStation made a post about this. (see YachtClubGames and PlayStation)
And finally, to address the claims that Kratos wasn’t going all out, I simply disagree. He starts the fight by mocking Shovel Knight’s choice of weaponry only to be surprised by just how powerful Shovel Knight is, even to the point of saying “ENOUGH! In your hands, a mere farmer's tool burns with the fury of Hades. Surely you have the Gods' favor" He says this as if it’s a compliment. Furthermore, Kratos looks pretty passionate during the fight, as he’s so angry that he summons lightning behind himself.
• IS SMASH BROS SCALING LEGIT???
This was honestly one of the strangest things to come up during the debate. To put it simply, Kiryutojo suggested that Shovel Knight and Shantae could scale to each other in Power & Speed due to both appearing as spirits in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
Obviously, there are a few problems with this. For one, while we never technically made a rule against crossover scaling, our intent was always to stick to the mainline video games within Shovel Knight and Shantae’s series. There’s also the fact that Shovel Knight and Shantae obviously aren’t playable characters, meaning they literally have no feats within in the game itself, so assuming they can scale to each other even in the game itself is a bit shaky, as we know from cutscenes that not every character within the Smash story mode is equal to each other. Admittedly, you can’t deny it’s an interesting thought…
However, Kiryutojo never really relied on this argument for his points. He sort of just brought it up as a side note, so it’s not likely something to be taken too seriously. (Edit: Kiryutojo here. I said this as a joke during the end of the Discord debate. I did not actually mean to use Smash Bros scaling lol)

TEAM SHOVEL KNIGHT — The Last Kirbalorian
I would like to list a couple arguments why I think Shovel Knight pretty easily takes this. The first thing is that he takes almost all of the stats.
STATS
Power
I think he takes strength pretty easily considering he constantly digs and breaks massive mounds of dirt and rock, specifically near the core of the earth where real life drills couldn't get anywhere close to. As well as being able to harm Kratos, at least enough to make him surrender. Plus he is wearing this metal armor at all times yet he is still super agile, being able to hop on his Shovel like a pogo stick without the slightest problem. He also regularly takes on beasts much bigger than him like the Dragons. Shantae's ability to move large blocks of stone isn't really that good in comparison to Shovel Knight just casually break dirt block like them as well as well as breaking huge walls of dirt with one slash.
Shantae's best scaling is 603.7 kilotons of TNT, and that might seem impressive... until you look at Shovel Knight. Shovel Knight beats The Enchantress on a regular basis. The Enchantress moved an entire castle which is a feat of at least 2.1 Gigatons, which directly converts to 2,100,000 kilotons, which is over three thousand times greater than the best of Shantae's kilotons. (:O) And if for some reason you don't believe this let's him win, he also beat the Mirror of Fate which is over 24 gigatons, this directly converts to 24,000,000 kilotons. Also converting to being Thirty-Nine Thousand times greater than Shantae's best feat.
Speed
Shovel Knight's speed in all cases surpasses Shantae's. He has a feat of moving at Mach 1,489, which is nearly 8 times faster than Shantae's best speed feat. Even if we are generous to both and assume the lasers their laser timing feats are both light speed, Shovel Knight's is 65.2% SoL. Meanwhile, Shantae can only move at 30% SoL. This means he's more than double her speed. Not only that, but Shovel Knight is just regularly moving faster than cannon balls moving at 360 meters per second, while Shantae has to rely on specific equipment to move at super speed herself.
Durability
Considering Shovel Knight constantly gets things thrown at him like huge rocks, meteors and he straight up tanks being thrown at full force into a wall by Kratos, I think it's safe to say he takes durability. As well as being able to tank hits from Kratos, he doesn't only have physical durability. Also, him tanking the Mirror of Fate gives him the same scaling but for durability meaning he can tank 24 gigatons, and tanks 2.1 Gigatons from the Enchantress.
EXPERIENCE
I would think it's pretty clear as to why I think he takes Skill. For one, he has been training for years as well as being able to beat all of the other Knights who have been training for even longer than him. As well as being able to consistently beat The Enchantress. Not to mention all of the skills he learned from Master Argus. I also think, him beating Kratos who has been killing literal Gods for over 1000 years should easily put him above Shantae in Skill. I personally think that his years of training in Shovelry as well as his numerous battles gives him the win here. Just the sheer amount of foes he's faced should be enough to give him this.
ARSENAL
His arsenal is a huge part of this debate, just because of how big and diverse it is.
He has so many items and armor sets for specific situations that are a huge help in this fight. Like his Chronos Glass and Chronos Coin which stop time for 16 seconds and 10 seconds respectively.
He also just has tons of resistances to things like all Fire attacks, Ice attacks, Explosion attacks, wind attacks, water attacks, and electricity attacks. Like this literally removes effectiveness to any attack she has that uses those.
He also has moves that (Charge Handle & Wildcard) just bypass any type of shield whatsoever, like her Invincibility shield, making her not so invincible. And his Turkey Torque completely removes all of her potions simply turning them into turkeys, so her revival potion wouldn't even work because she wouldn't have it anymore. He also has his Slamvil which will just drop an anvil on her head once they start fighting. Maybe it doesn't work like this but anvils can weigh up to 500 pounds. And yes, I will give it to Shantae that she has an infinite magic supply but Shovel Knight also has ways of replenishing his like with the Lucky Magic Vial. It's also not like the fight is going to go on for a year, so it's not like Shovel Knight needs infinite magic.
He also has things like the Wildcard which can just instantly kill her. Or the Zap Wand which shoots beam of electricity on a straight line. Or his Smoke Bomb which makes him invulnerable to all damage. He also has the Blizzeo Wand which can even freeze dragons. He also has the Phase Locket which makes him invulnerable to all damage for a few seconds. Overall his arsenal just consists of so many unique items that can seriously help him in this fight.
WINCONS
So Shantae only has like one wincon being the argument that she could wish Shovel Knight out of existence.
Now my first problem with this is the fact that the closest thing she has ever done to this is wish barriers away. This would also cause huge plot hole in her games. Like, if he should could control her wish powers like this, then why doesn't she wish all the other half genies back? Or why doesn't she wish that Risky Boots can't do anything to fight her? If she really did have this power, it would make her a god, but she still has so many limits that saying she should be able to wish people out of existence would be a no limits fallacy. Yet she doesn't do anything like this.
Not to mention this goes against her character and morals. Now yes, you could say that morals don't matter here because it's a battle to the death and she wouldn't normally kill, but just because she would end up killing him doesn't mean she is going to become a psychopath and instantly try erasing his existence. In every death battle we (or Death Battle) has done, the characters have still acted like the characters even if killing is something they would never do. But that doesn't even acknowledge the question of, why would she use it to erase his existence and not just kill him? You might wonder why that matters, and it matters because if you erase his existence the "Fenix Feather" might not resurrect him. But if she just kills him with it, it will. I don't see any reason why she would specifically think to erase his entire existence. I feel like she simply wouldn't see any reason for that or even think about it.
But let’s just say she does this and kills him. Like I said before, his Fenix Feather would just bring him back to life. Also, the Fenix Feather kills all enemies upon revival. So if she did this, it might just kill her.
Now for Shovel Knights wincons he has a lot more. One wincon he has is his Wildcard, which kills all enemies of the same type. Now no there aren't going to be multiple Shantae's but he could still just as easily use this on her and instantly delete her. His second wincon is his time stopping items like Chronos Glass. This item further helps the idea that Shantae couldn't instantly delete him because this instantly stops time for 16 seconds upon entering a fight. So to her Shovel Knight could just suddenly appear in front of her attacking her, because time stopped for her. He also has the Chronos Coin. He can use this whenever and this stops time for 10 seconds. This means that if he used these two back to back he could stop time for 26 seconds. That might not seem like long, but for someone who can basically just delete her, it matters. You also might say if he just randomly saw Shantae and his Chronos Glass went off, he would have no reason to fight her, but it only goes off upon entering a fight, so I don't think it would go off until they started fighting and by then he would know to attack her. His third wincon are his pure stats. He just has way better stats than her and even if they didn't use any hax, he would still just win any battle they have. His pure speed, strength, experience, and skill gives him an easy win in a duel with or without her hax.
CONCLUSION
(this was Kirb’s response to Kiryutojo denying Kratos scaling and suggesting Smash Bros scaling for both)
So overall, Shovel Knight takes all of the stats, and he has way more win conditions than Shantae. And yes, you can argue that the Kratos scaling isn't canon, but I genuinely don't think he needs it because his strength, skill, durability, arsenal, and wincons are all way better than hers, as well as easily being able to counter her one wincon.
If I am being completely honest, I think Shovel Knight Stomps. His win cons are a lot looser than Shantae's and aren't nearly as situational or interpretational. He can win regardless of the situation, but for her main wincon, it requires Shovel Knight’s feather to not kill her upon use, for her to be able to use her genie magic that way, and for Shovel Knight to not react faster than her and freeze time to kill her. The winner is Shovel Knight!
TEAM SHANTAE — Kiryutojo
STATS
Shantae’s best durability feat would be surviving an exploding airship at point blank range, which can yield up to 912.4 tons of TNT.
Shantae can scale to the Pirate King’s horizon spanning storm, reaching well up to 600 kilotons of TNT.
However, I do think Shovel Knight probably still takes stats.
ABILITIES
Her arsenal is smaller however the Magic Tiara gives Shantae unlimited magic, while Shovel Knight’s capacity for magic is limited.
While both adventurers are capable of reviving with items such as Auto-Potions or the Tears of Mercy and Fenix Feather, Shante's wish magic could make Shovel Knight's means of reviving go away if she wished him away too
WINCONS
Shantae hypothetically could use her wish magic to wish Shovel Knight out of existence, like she did to Ammo Baron’s forces. Sure she never used it on someone in canon, but there's nothing saying she's unable to do it.
CONCLUSION
As for Shovel Knight beating Kratos... it's not canon in most of the Shovel Knight timelines as Shovel Knight didn't run into the Battletoads during the Playstion timeline and vice versa with the Xbox timeline. The Switch timeline didn't had Shovel Knight fighting ether of them as well. Sure it's a minor different but it's hard to say what crossover is canon here to count it as a canon feat.
I think Shovel Knight out stats her, but Shante can spam magic infinitely. Also, Shovel Knight doesn’t have a counter to wish magic. The winner is Shantae!

IT’S TIME FOR A PMC DEATH BATTLE!!!
⛵️🌊 In the wide open seas, Shovel Knight sails on a small boat heading toward the harbor of Scuttle Town. Behind him is his seemingly malevolent rival, Black Knight, who sails on a separate boat in pursuit. Both take the same route to confront Shantae's rival, Risky Boots, who is currently disguised as Mayor Scuttlebutt.
Shovel Knight:
“Hm…”
Their ships begin to reach the coast, but not before Black Knight tries to vocally claim his target.
Black Knight:
"Turn back, Shovel Knight! This one is mine."
Shovel Knight sighs and tries to yell out a reasonable response, knowing it would ultimately be in vain.
Shovel Knight:
"This is no time for quarrel, Black Knight! If the Enchantress is resurrected, this entire island will be doomed!"
As expected, Black Knight ignores him and continues sailing at full speed.

Cut to the half-genie, Shantae, sitting on a stone staircase near the coast. She smiles as she watches the birds peacefully. 🕊️🌤️
Shantae:
“…”
Suddenly, she hears someone screaming. Turning her head, she looks surprised to see who she believes is Mayor Scuttlebutt running away from a blue-armored knight with a shovel. She raises an eyebrow as they both run past her and into town.
Shantae:
"Mayor Scuttlebutt??"
Shantae quickly stands and transforms into a bat. 🦇 She then flies over the town in search of the "mayor." After a short time, she spots him screaming for help as the mysterious blue-armored knight closes in.
Just before Shovel Knight can catch Risky Boots, Shantae transforms back into a human and lands to block his path. She raises her hands to prevent him from continuing.
Shantae:
"Hey, hold on!"
Risky Boots realizes her disguise has fooled Shantae, so she uses the opportunity to flee. She puts on a charade of fear, but once she reaches the pine trees of the forest, she smirks slyly and removes her disguise.
Risky Boots:
“Heh…”
However, before she can escape, a black shovel descends from above, impaling the ground in front of her. Her eyes widen as Black Knight crashes into the grassy ground with thunderous impact. He rips his shovel from the earth and raises it to Risky's neck.
Black Knight:
"Going somewhere?"
Risky sighs in frustration and rolls her eyes.
Risky Boots:
"You've gotta be kidding me…"

Back in town, Shantae continues trying to block Shovel Knight’s path. He tries to dash past her, but she repeatedly steps in front of him.
Shantae: "Hey! Slow down! What's going on??"
Shovel Knight turns to her with urgency.
Shovel Knight:
“You must stand out of my way, miss! That was one of the Enchantress’s pawns!"
Shantae folds her arms and raises an eyebrow.
Shantae:
"The what?? Who are you??”
He examines her attire as he speaks, assuming she’s a dancer of some kind.
Shovel Knight: "I am Shovel Knight, but there's no time for chatter! You're all being fooled. The mayor isn't who you think. Now, please step aside before someone gets hurt.”
Shantae sighs and lowers her arms, looking away as she responds.
Shantae:
"I know Mayor Scuttlebutt is a lazy, backstabbing chocoholic…"
She suddenly clenches her fists and glares at him.
Shantae:
"BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'M JUST GONNA LET YOU HURT HIM!"
She whips her long purple hair at Shovel Knight, sending him backward. He steadies himself and grips his shovel tightly.
Shovel Knight:
"Then prepare to taste justice…"
He raises his shovel in determination, ready to fight.
Shovel Knight:
"Shovel Justice!"
Shantae stands silently with a blank expression. Only the sound of wind and crickets fills the awkward pause. 🦗 After a few seconds, she smiles in amusement.
Shantae:
"Um…” 
“…what?"
Just as she finishes speaking, Shovel Knight swings his shovel at her face. Shantae quickly jumps back in caution. Shovel Knight leaps into the air and thrusts his shovel downward.
Shantae:
"Whoa!"
Shantae whips her hair at his shovel multiple times, causing him to bounce midair like a pogo stick. Each bounce grows stronger, and after a few hits, Shovel Knight raises his shovel and performs a spiral slash. 🌀
Shantae quickly pulls out her scimitar to block his spinning attacks. Shovel Knight lands and charges up a shovel strike, slamming into her scimitar and sending her flying backward.
He then slashes the ground, sending a spark of energy toward her feet. 💥 She jumps, using the spark to rise higher. She pulls out her pirate hat to glide and draws her flintlock pistol.
She aims and fires at Shovel Knight. He jumps left and right to dodge the incoming fire, then pulls out his Flare Wand and shoots fireballs. 🔥 The first hits her pistol, disarming her. The second tears through her hat. Before the third hits, she pulls out her mirror shield, deflecting the fireball back at him and causing him to drop the wand. 🪞↪️🔥
Shantae lands and raises her hands, summoning smoke clouds that shoot natural bolts of lightning. 🌩️ Shovel Knight dodges again, but as he approaches her, she blasts him with magical fire. He pulls out a shield to block, but the force pushes him back.🛡️🔥🔥🔥
Shovel Knight:
"Hnh!"
🔥💍🔥He quickly equips the Flameo Ring. By the time it's on, Shantae’s fire magic rips the shield from his hand, engulfing him in flames. She finally stops and exhales.
Shantae:
"Phew…"
As the smoke fades, she’s shocked to see Shovel Knight standing unharmed, arms folded. The Flameo Ring has made him immune.
Shantae: "W-what?! Aw, come on…"
Shovel Knight:
"You fight surprisingly well for a dancer, but it'll take more than that to put down a knight of true Shovelry."
Shantae giggles, feeling slightly flattered, but still determined to win.
Shantae: "Oh, thanks for the compliment, Shovel Man—but I’m a little more than a dancer!"
She belly dances, confusing Shovel Knight.
Shovel Knight:
"Um… what are you doing?"
Shantae:
“Just putting on a show, good sir!"
A duplicate of her forms behind him. Before he can react, the duplicate whips him with her hair.
Shovel Knight: "In the middle of a battl- Ngh!"
Shantae and her duplicate attack him in a back-and-forth combo. Shovel Knight tries to retaliate, but Shantae transforms into a spider lady, shooting webs that bind his legs. 🕸️ They leap at him, but he pulls out his War Horn and blows it, sending them flying into a building and reverting Shantae to her human form. 💨
❤️🏆❤️ Shovel Knight drinks an Ichor of Renewal, restoring his health. He then uses his Shadow Locket to summon a shadow clone. Together, they face off against Shantae and her duplicate, leading to an intense group battle.
Shovel Knight duels the duplicate, disarming her and striking with a charge slash. Meanwhile, Shantaefires cannonballs at the shadow clone, ☄️ who dodges and counters with tornadoes from a Gusteo Wand. 🌪️ Shantae ducks and weaves, but then Shovel Knight's pet slimes swarm her. 🟢🟢🟢 She holds them off with hair-whips.
Her duplicate tries to intervene by whipping her hair at one of the slimes creatures but gets caught—her hair is caught by the shovel of the shadow clone, who slams her into the ground. Shovel Knight throws a Chaos Sphere while the clone holds her in place, bouncing it against her repeatedly. The clone then throws her, and Shovel Knight engulfs her in flames with the Fizzle Wand. 🔥
Shantae Duplicate:
“Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!”
As she screams, the shadow clone tosses an Alchemy Coin into the air before hitting it like he was using a baseball bat. It collides with the duplicate , transmuting her into treasure. 💥🪙 Shovel Knight and his clone high-five in satisfaction, but the clone immediately loses his cool when he sees all the loot that formed from their victory.
Shovel Knight Shadow Clone:
"!" ✨✨✨✨✨
Shovel Knight scratches his helmet, watching awkwardly as his shadow clone desperately collect the treasure from the cobblestone floor.
Back with the real Shantae, she’s fighting off the slimes. She whips at one, but it latches onto her.
Shantae: "Eek!"
She summons an Invincible Bubble Shield around herself 🫧 as Baby griffins fly overhead, breathing fireballs. ☄️🦅 As they surround her, she belly dances and activates her Obliterate ability, destroying them all in an instant. 🩸💥🩸 She then transforms into a bat and flies over Shovel Knight’s shadow clone, who is busy collecting treasure from the duplicate’s remains. 🦇
The Shadow Clone looks up in shock while on his knees with the treasure falling from his hands.
Shovel Knight Shadow Clone:
“…”
Shantae:
"See you later!"
Shantae winks and transforms into an elephant midair before falling onto him with impact that cracks the cobblestone, destroying the shadow clone in the process. 🐘
Shovel Knight steps back in caution. Shantae charges in elephant form, but he uses his Coffer of Safekeeping ⚰️ to hide in a relic. She slams into it, launching it skyward. 🪽 Transforming into a harpy, she takes flight and claws at the relic, slamming it into buildings. With a final strike, the relic shatters—leaving Shovel Knight exposed, But before she can do anything, he already has his Blizzeo Wand in hand and uses it to freeze her entire body midair. ❄️
Shovel Knight then equips his Duster Knuckles and unleashes a flurry of punches on her frozen form, each hit cracking the ice more and more. He charges up one final punch and slams her with Meteor Impact, shattering the ice and sending her flying several feet back. 💥 Her harpy form fades as she reverts to her human self, crashing to the ground.
Shantae: “Ow…”
Shovel Knight watches carefully as Shantae quickly drinks a healing potion. ❤️🍷❤️ She then vanishes from sight with her Vanishing Cream, leaving behind a puff of smoke. 💨 He grips his shovel tightly, eyes darting in every direction. Suddenly, she reappears from behind in her Ninja costume and throws a set of shurikens at his back. The blades pierce through his blue armor, drawing sparks and shallow cuts.
Shovel Knight swings around with his shovel, but Shantae anticipated this. She ducks, rolls behind him, and with a swift kick, knocks the shovel from his grip. She then backflips off his chest plate midair, hurling another round of shurikens.
The blades cleave deeper this time, cracking more of his armor and drawing blood. 🩸 Shovel Knight drops to one knee and retaliates by tossing anchors at her, but Shantae flips high into the air, dodging each one with ease. He quickly pulls out his Gusteo Wand and shoots a small 🌪️ tornado—but the moment the tornado passes, Shantae is gone again.
Invisible once more, Shantae leaps behind him and hits a Tornado Spin Attack, slamming Shovel Knight into a wall. Before he can react, she throws another barrage of shurikens into his armor. She glares at him, watching as blood drips onto the cobblestone floor.
Shantae:
“It’s time to end this!”
Shantae leaps into the air to finish him off—but just before she lands the final blow, a flash of light gleams off his armor. ✨Suddenly, two giant Phoenix Wings made of Fenix Feathers burst from Shovel Knight’s back, reviving him completely. ✨🪽✨The powerful beat of his wings sends Shantae flying away in a shockwave.
Now restored, Shovel Knight rises to his feet, gripping the long handle of his shovel tightly.
Shovel Knight:
“No trickery or witchcraft can put an end to my shovel of hope. Now, steel thy blade, witch!”
Shantae exhales, then locks eyes with him—her gaze burning with resolve.
Shovel Knight charges forward at hypersonic speed and swings his shovel toward her neck. She blocks the strike with her scimitar and fends off a barrage of blows, but eventually, the pressure disarms her.
Desperate, Shantae attempts to whip him with her hair, but he catches it with his shovel, wrapping it like a rope. He swings her in circles before slamming her into the ground repeatedly. Groaning, Shantae gets to her knees and tries to drink another potion, but Shovel Knight quickly dons his Turkey Torque Hat.
Before she can drink, the potion transforms into… a turkey??? 🍷💨🦃
Shantae: 🦃🦃🦃 “What the—?!” 🦃🦃🦃
Shantae stares in shock as her other potions also turn into turkeys. She drops them, completely baffled.
Shovel Knight (removing the hat):
“Knew this had to come in handy for something…”
Shantae:
“Are you seriously just a knight?!”
She leaps backward and activates a Fusion Stone, transforming into her Spark Dance form. ⚡️Electricity crackles across her body as she hovers midair, firing bolts at Shovel Knight. ⚡️⚡️⚡️But his (⚡️💍⚡️) Bolteo Ring shields him as he jumps into the air, performing a Spiral Slash to cut through each bolt. 🌀
As he closes in, Shantae uses her Gemjug Dance to transform into a tiny jug of gems, narrowly avoiding the attack. 🏺 Shovel Knight, momentarily stunned, digs his shovel into the ground and swings upward, launching her jug form into the air.
Midair, Shantae activates her final Fusion Stone—the Quake Dance.
🔥Her hair ignites, and flaming wings erupt from her back. A large hammer forms in her hands as she floats with confidence.🪽
Shantae:
“I’m Ret-2 Go!”
Shantae swings the hammer down, but Shovel Knight turns intangible with his Phase Locket, phasing through the strike. Taking this chance to jump above her before becoming tangible again, he drops into a Super Shovel Drop, pogoing off her head. She winces but manages to counter with a wide swing of her hammer, sending him flying and shaking the battlefield with a shockwave.
Shovel Knight stumbles to his knees, struggling to steady himself as the ground quakes.
Suddenly, Shantae rockets toward him at hypersonic speed, her wings leaving trails of fire behind her. 🪽🔥🔥🔥 At the last second, Shovel Knight pulls out his Propeller & Rising Daggers to ascend and evade her. He then propels forward, and the two clash midair with tremendous force. 💥
The clash sends both fighters backward. Shovel Knight’s blade extends like a whip, striking with dazzling speed. Shantae blocks each blow, countering with heavy hammer strikes. Their duel becomes a blur of motion, shockwaves tearing through the battlefield and demolishing buildings nearby. 💥💥💥
Shovel Knight eventually gets another opening in her and slams his shovel against her hard enough to send her to the cobblestone floors and revert her back to her standard form. Shantae pauses when she sees all the destruction, a deep look of regret covers her face. She hears islanders screaming in the distance. Closing her eyes, she takes a breath, then locks onto Shovel Knight.
Shantae:
“No… I can’t let anyone else get hurt.”
She refills her magic and transforms back into her Quake Dance form before striking him square in the face with her hammer, launching him hundreds of feet into the forest. Before he can recover, she teleports behind him and slams her hammer into his back, rocketing him through the trees. 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴💨💥
Shantae:
“I’m not a witch, Shovel Man! I am the Half-Genie Guardian of Scuttle Town!”
🔥As he falls, Shovel Knight shoots fireballs from his Flare Wand, but Shantae flies through them, hammer raised. She slams it down onto his helmet, cracking one of its horns and creating a crater with the impact.💥
Barely holding himself up, Shovel Knight grips his shovel, bleeding and gasping. 🩸
Shantae hovers above him, preparing one final strike—but just as she swings, Shovel Knight parries with his shovel and blows into his War Horn, stunning her. 💨📣
Shantae:
“Hnh!”
Before she can react, he activates his Chronos Coin.✨ 🪙 ✨Suddenly, all of time stops and freezes everyone and everything except for Shovel Knight. He exhales as he stares at Shantae’s body frozen in time. ⌛️🕛
Shovel Knight: “Forgive me…” 
“Hnh!”
Shovel Knight leaps forward and spins with a fully charged Spiral Slash, cutting through her midair.🩸🌀🩸As time resumes, (⏳) he lands one final Super Shovel Drop, driving his blade into Shantae’s chest and slamming her into the ground with a massive impact. 💥⬇️💥
As the dust settles, Shovel Knight stands from his knees and pulls his blade from her lifeless form. Shantae reverts to her half-genie appearance, now devoid of any life.
Shovel Knight:
“You fought well, Guardian Genie…”
Shovel Knight turns away, then looks back one last time with regret before marching towards the horizon, his shovel at his side. And with that, he continues his quest with bravery and never ending resolve. 🌅

Tinkerbat: In this form, Shantae can climb walls, glide through the air, charge forward like an elephant, and also gain a scimitar for combat.
Crab: Allows Shantae to breath underwater and even summon waterfalls above her opponent before dashing through them to deal some damage with her crab claws.
Bat: Allows Shantae to hover in the air and move forward. Bat Sonar grants her with greater vision in the dark and can even cover other areas in darkness as long as she is still in the form.
Mouse: This form allows Shantae to squeeze through tiny spaces and even perform her most powerful ability of all… Mouse Bite!
Blobfish Dance: Turns Shantae into a blobfish, allowing her to bounce around. Btw she has to trade Obliterate to get this, so…
Gemjug Dance: Turns Shantae into a jug of gems. She needs to trade Warp Dance in order to obtain this, but unlike Blobfish Dance, there is a benefit to this. It allows her to gain more gems.
Fusion Dances
In Shantae and the Seven Sirens, Shantae obtains fusion stones which contain the power of the other half-genies. Using these gives her access to different forms, each of which have a plethora of abilities.
Seer Dance: This Shantae’s first form. In this form, she can reveal both hidden pathways and invisible enemies.
Refresh Dance: This is the second form Shantae obtains. In this form, she mostly heals, but she can also revitalize plants and people, giving them more life energy. It can also heal petrification, cure poisonous objects, and damage the undead.
Spark Dance: This is Shantae’s third form. It allows her power machines and attack enemies with a screen-wide barrage of electricity.
Quake Dance: This is Shantae’s fourth and final form. With it, she gains flaming wings and a giant hammer and can also open previously blocked pathways, reveal hidden statues, unearth treasure, even cause a screen-wide earthquake which deals heavy damage to any enemy on the ground, though its abilities are negligent against any airborne enemies.
Fire Magic
Aside from transforming with her dances, Shantae also has a few other abilities with her magic, such as the ability to shoot magic flames from her hand.
Fireball: Fires a single fireball.
Spitfire: Fires a group of three fireballs.
Flamethrower: Fires a large torrent of flames.
OTHER ABILITIES:
Here are a few more abilities Shantae can use.
Attract Magic: Attracts dropped items like a magnet.
Magic Fill: Magic meter automatically refills.
Back Dash: Shantae dashes backwards.
Power Kick: Shantae performs a powerful kick.
WISH GRANTING
It shouldn’t really be too surprising that Shantae has this ability considering she’s half genie. She once used this ability to wish all of Scuttle Town back to normal after it had been turned into a base of operations by the Battle Baron, though it’s important to note that we do not know the full extent of these abilities, and Shantae herself has never used this ability on an enemy in combat.

The Pirate Master
Shantae was able to trade blows with this frightening creature even when she had lost her magic. This is important because it took the combined power of all the genies in Sequin Land to seal him away into a grave, yet Shantae was able to fight him on equal footing and even overwhelmed after her genie magic returned.

Seven Sirens
While on a mission to find her missing half-genie friends, Shantae had to face off against six of the Seven Sirens, meaning she would scale to the feats of all those she defeated.

Coal Siren
• possibly survived an exploding mech.
• shook an entire room by jumping.
Tube Worm Siren
• when moving out of the ground, causes a small cave to shake.
Angel Fish Siren
• can move large stone walls with her magic.

• Is part of a massive octopus.
Empress Siren
Empress Siren is the leader of the Seven Sirens and is known as “The Queen of the Seven Seas,” Even after she had absorbed the absorbed the life force of both Risky Boots and several half-genies, Shantae was capable of defeating her. Not even Empress Siren growing to the size of a mini kaiju could stop Shantae from defeating her.

BEFORE THE VERDICTS… (FAQ)
• DO SHOVEL KNIGHT & SHANTAE HAVE LIGHTSPEED REACTIONS???
If you payed attention to both Shovel Knight and Shantae’s Stats & Scaling section, you may have noticed that both were given possible lightspeed laser timing feats. (Shantae with her laser dodging feat (30% SoL) and Shovel Knight with his scaling to King Knight, who can dodge lasers and move in tandem with light orbs (65.2% SoL) ) So, what exactly do we mean when we say POSSIBLE lightspeed reactions?
Well, it was already mentioned in the G1 Blog, but to sum it up, neither of these light attacks actually show the properties required to prove they’re moving at the speed of light. They move in a straight line and don’t explode, but so do plasma cutters, and those are not lightspeed. To put it simply, while it’s possible that these could be lightspeed reaction feats, the safest bet is to say they’re not.
• CAN SHANTAE WISH SOMEONE OUT OF EXISTENCE???
This is one of the biggest (and possibly most important) contentions in the debate. “Could Shantae wish Shovel Knight out of existence?” To be entirely honest, there’s no clear cut answer to this, as while we know Shantae has Wish Granting powers, she’s never used it in a combat scenario. In this section, I will be summarizing the arguments brought up on both sides.
[NOTE: This isn’t literally what they said, just a basic summary of the main points.]
Kiryutojo’s Argument FOR Existence Erasure:
Shantae doesn’t use this power in game because it would be out of character for her to do so. It’s one thing to simply defeat an enemy, but to erase their entire body and soul is another thing. Shantae would likely see that as a step too far.
Since Shantae has the powers of a Genie, it’s logical that she should be capable of replicating an ability they’re famously known for.
Also, while it may normally be out of character for her to do this, this a DEATH BATTLE, meaning there’s no holding back for Shantae.
The Last Kirbalorian’s Argument AGAINST Existence Erasure:
To say Shantae can simply erase someone from existence would be ignoring the specific details of her character and abilities.
While Genies may be famously known for their power to grant any wish, Shantae is a HALF-Genie, meaning it’s logical to assume she doesn’t have all the same abilities as a normal Genie.
Using one instance of Shantae using her Wish Granting powers to make some of Barron’s forces go away to say she could just poof anyone or anything she wanted out of existence would be a No Limits Fallacy.
Furthermore, it would add a plethora of plot holes to Shantae’s story, as saying Shantae could simply erase someone from existence due to having Wish Granting powers would imply that she basically has full control over her powers to wish whatever she wanted to happen into existence. If that was the case, then Shantae could have simply wished every one of her friend to safety, wish her enemies were defeated, or maybe wish she didn’t have any physical limitations, but she doesn’t. With all this in mind, it’s extremely unlikely that Shantae has the power to simply poof Shovel Knight out of existence.
• IS SHOVEL KNIGHT’S KRATOS SCALING VIABLE???
Ah yes, the Kratos scaling…
As mentioned in part 1 of this blog, Shovel Knight once fought the God of War, better known as Kratos. This could imply that Shovel Knight could potentially compare to several different cosmic feats performed by the Greek gods of mythology, one of which could even grant him Universal levels of power. However, regardless of whether or not Shovel Knight actually compares to Kratos’ canonical power level, this feat still highlights the fact that Shovel Knight is far more than just a man, further supporting his scaling to other characters like The Enchantress and the Mirror of Fate.
But anyway, to answer the question above… YES. You can certainly make a feasible argument that Shovel Knight proves his superiority to Kratos in their fight; HOWEVER, whether or not this means he can actually compare to the feats Kratos pulls off in his own games is far more contentious. I will be listing the arguments FOR and AGAINST Kratos scaling.
[NOTE: Similar to the previous FAQ, this isn’t me literally quoting them. It’s just me trying to word their arguments a specific way for this blog.]
Kiryutojo’s Argument AGAINST Kratos Scaling:
Shovel Knight obviously shouldn’t scale to Kratos’ power in the actual God of War games, as Shovel Knight can only get this boss fight in the PlayStation version of the game, likely implying that it’s a specific alternate timeline rather than a consistent timeline in the Shovel Knight story.
Even if we were to say this is canon to Shovel Knight and God of War, it’s still very possible that Kratos wasn’t going all out in the fight, as we can clearly see that he’s the one who calls off the fight. He even compares Shovel Knight to Hades, a god we know Kratos kills.
The Last Kirbalorian’s Argument FOR Kratos Scaling:
To start off we know this is canon because the director of God of War literally said it is. This is his exact statement.
“He appears on his journey from Greece to Scandinavia. So that was actually a part of the God of War history where he suddenly became 8-bit... it's canon. Wait for the box set."
On top of that, both Yacht Club Games & PlayStation made a post about this. (see YachtClubGames and PlayStation)
And finally, to address the claims that Kratos wasn’t going all out, I simply disagree. He starts the fight by mocking Shovel Knight’s choice of weaponry only to be surprised by just how powerful Shovel Knight is, even to the point of saying “ENOUGH! In your hands, a mere farmer's tool burns with the fury of Hades. Surely you have the Gods' favor" He says this as if it’s a compliment. Furthermore, Kratos looks pretty passionate during the fight, as he’s so angry that he summons lightning behind himself.
• IS SMASH BROS SCALING LEGIT???
This was honestly one of the strangest things to come up during the debate. To put it simply, Kiryutojo suggested that Shovel Knight and Shantae could scale to each other in Power & Speed due to both appearing as spirits in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
Obviously, there are a few problems with this. For one, while we never technically made a rule against crossover scaling, our intent was always to stick to the mainline video games within Shovel Knight and Shantae’s series. There’s also the fact that Shovel Knight and Shantae obviously aren’t playable characters, meaning they literally have no feats within in the game itself, so assuming they can scale to each other even in the game itself is a bit shaky, as we know from cutscenes that not every character within the Smash story mode is equal to each other. Admittedly, you can’t deny it’s an interesting thought…
However, Kiryutojo never really relied on this argument for his points. He sort of just brought it up as a side note, so it’s not likely something to be taken too seriously. (Edit: Kiryutojo here. I said this as a joke during the end of the Discord debate. I did not actually mean to use Smash Bros scaling lol)

TEAM SHOVEL KNIGHT — The Last Kirbalorian
I would like to list a couple arguments why I think Shovel Knight pretty easily takes this. The first thing is that he takes almost all of the stats.
STATS
Power
I think he takes strength pretty easily considering he constantly digs and breaks massive mounds of dirt and rock, specifically near the core of the earth where real life drills couldn't get anywhere close to. As well as being able to harm Kratos, at least enough to make him surrender. Plus he is wearing this metal armor at all times yet he is still super agile, being able to hop on his Shovel like a pogo stick without the slightest problem. He also regularly takes on beasts much bigger than him like the Dragons. Shantae's ability to move large blocks of stone isn't really that good in comparison to Shovel Knight just casually break dirt block like them as well as well as breaking huge walls of dirt with one slash.
Shantae's best scaling is 603.7 kilotons of TNT, and that might seem impressive... until you look at Shovel Knight. Shovel Knight beats The Enchantress on a regular basis. The Enchantress moved an entire castle which is a feat of at least 2.1 Gigatons, which directly converts to 2,100,000 kilotons, which is over three thousand times greater than the best of Shantae's kilotons. (:O) And if for some reason you don't believe this let's him win, he also beat the Mirror of Fate which is over 24 gigatons, this directly converts to 24,000,000 kilotons. Also converting to being Thirty-Nine Thousand times greater than Shantae's best feat.
Speed
Shovel Knight's speed in all cases surpasses Shantae's. He has a feat of moving at Mach 1,489, which is nearly 8 times faster than Shantae's best speed feat. Even if we are generous to both and assume the lasers their laser timing feats are both light speed, Shovel Knight's is 65.2% SoL. Meanwhile, Shantae can only move at 30% SoL. This means he's more than double her speed. Not only that, but Shovel Knight is just regularly moving faster than cannon balls moving at 360 meters per second, while Shantae has to rely on specific equipment to move at super speed herself.
Durability
Considering Shovel Knight constantly gets things thrown at him like huge rocks, meteors and he straight up tanks being thrown at full force into a wall by Kratos, I think it's safe to say he takes durability. As well as being able to tank hits from Kratos, he doesn't only have physical durability. Also, him tanking the Mirror of Fate gives him the same scaling but for durability meaning he can tank 24 gigatons, and tanks 2.1 Gigatons from the Enchantress.
EXPERIENCE
I would think it's pretty clear as to why I think he takes Skill. For one, he has been training for years as well as being able to beat all of the other Knights who have been training for even longer than him. As well as being able to consistently beat The Enchantress. Not to mention all of the skills he learned from Master Argus. I also think, him beating Kratos who has been killing literal Gods for over 1000 years should easily put him above Shantae in Skill. I personally think that his years of training in Shovelry as well as his numerous battles gives him the win here. Just the sheer amount of foes he's faced should be enough to give him this.
ARSENAL
His arsenal is a huge part of this debate, just because of how big and diverse it is.
He has so many items and armor sets for specific situations that are a huge help in this fight. Like his Chronos Glass and Chronos Coin which stop time for 16 seconds and 10 seconds respectively.
He also just has tons of resistances to things like all Fire attacks, Ice attacks, Explosion attacks, wind attacks, water attacks, and electricity attacks. Like this literally removes effectiveness to any attack she has that uses those.
He also has moves that (Charge Handle & Wildcard) just bypass any type of shield whatsoever, like her Invincibility shield, making her not so invincible. And his Turkey Torque completely removes all of her potions simply turning them into turkeys, so her revival potion wouldn't even work because she wouldn't have it anymore. He also has his Slamvil which will just drop an anvil on her head once they start fighting. Maybe it doesn't work like this but anvils can weigh up to 500 pounds. And yes, I will give it to Shantae that she has an infinite magic supply but Shovel Knight also has ways of replenishing his like with the Lucky Magic Vial. It's also not like the fight is going to go on for a year, so it's not like Shovel Knight needs infinite magic.
He also has things like the Wildcard which can just instantly kill her. Or the Zap Wand which shoots beam of electricity on a straight line. Or his Smoke Bomb which makes him invulnerable to all damage. He also has the Blizzeo Wand which can even freeze dragons. He also has the Phase Locket which makes him invulnerable to all damage for a few seconds. Overall his arsenal just consists of so many unique items that can seriously help him in this fight.
WINCONS
So Shantae only has like one wincon being the argument that she could wish Shovel Knight out of existence.
Now my first problem with this is the fact that the closest thing she has ever done to this is wish barriers away. This would also cause huge plot hole in her games. Like, if he should could control her wish powers like this, then why doesn't she wish all the other half genies back? Or why doesn't she wish that Risky Boots can't do anything to fight her? If she really did have this power, it would make her a god, but she still has so many limits that saying she should be able to wish people out of existence would be a no limits fallacy. Yet she doesn't do anything like this.
Not to mention this goes against her character and morals. Now yes, you could say that morals don't matter here because it's a battle to the death and she wouldn't normally kill, but just because she would end up killing him doesn't mean she is going to become a psychopath and instantly try erasing his existence. In every death battle we (or Death Battle) has done, the characters have still acted like the characters even if killing is something they would never do. But that doesn't even acknowledge the question of, why would she use it to erase his existence and not just kill him? You might wonder why that matters, and it matters because if you erase his existence the "Fenix Feather" might not resurrect him. But if she just kills him with it, it will. I don't see any reason why she would specifically think to erase his entire existence. I feel like she simply wouldn't see any reason for that or even think about it.
But let’s just say she does this and kills him. Like I said before, his Fenix Feather would just bring him back to life. Also, the Fenix Feather kills all enemies upon revival. So if she did this, it might just kill her.
Now for Shovel Knights wincons he has a lot more. One wincon he has is his Wildcard, which kills all enemies of the same type. Now no there aren't going to be multiple Shantae's but he could still just as easily use this on her and instantly delete her. His second wincon is his time stopping items like Chronos Glass. This item further helps the idea that Shantae couldn't instantly delete him because this instantly stops time for 16 seconds upon entering a fight. So to her Shovel Knight could just suddenly appear in front of her attacking her, because time stopped for her. He also has the Chronos Coin. He can use this whenever and this stops time for 10 seconds. This means that if he used these two back to back he could stop time for 26 seconds. That might not seem like long, but for someone who can basically just delete her, it matters. You also might say if he just randomly saw Shantae and his Chronos Glass went off, he would have no reason to fight her, but it only goes off upon entering a fight, so I don't think it would go off until they started fighting and by then he would know to attack her. His third wincon are his pure stats. He just has way better stats than her and even if they didn't use any hax, he would still just win any battle they have. His pure speed, strength, experience, and skill gives him an easy win in a duel with or without her hax.
CONCLUSION

So overall, Shovel Knight takes all of the stats, and he has way more win conditions than Shantae. And yes, you can argue that the Kratos scaling isn't canon, but I genuinely don't think he needs it because his strength, skill, durability, arsenal, and wincons are all way better than hers, as well as easily being able to counter her one wincon.
If I am being completely honest, I think Shovel Knight Stomps. His win cons are a lot looser than Shantae's and aren't nearly as situational or interpretational. He can win regardless of the situation, but for her main wincon, it requires Shovel Knight’s feather to not kill her upon use, for her to be able to use her genie magic that way, and for Shovel Knight to not react faster than her and freeze time to kill her. The winner is Shovel Knight!

Shantae’s best durability feat would be surviving an exploding airship at point blank range, which can yield up to 912.4 tons of TNT.
Shantae can scale to the Pirate King’s horizon spanning storm, reaching well up to 600 kilotons of TNT.
However, I do think Shovel Knight probably still takes stats.
ABILITIES
Her arsenal is smaller however the Magic Tiara gives Shantae unlimited magic, while Shovel Knight’s capacity for magic is limited.
While both adventurers are capable of reviving with items such as Auto-Potions or the Tears of Mercy and Fenix Feather, Shante's wish magic could make Shovel Knight's means of reviving go away if she wished him away too
WINCONS
Shantae hypothetically could use her wish magic to wish Shovel Knight out of existence, like she did to Ammo Baron’s forces. Sure she never used it on someone in canon, but there's nothing saying she's unable to do it.
CONCLUSION
As for Shovel Knight beating Kratos... it's not canon in most of the Shovel Knight timelines as Shovel Knight didn't run into the Battletoads during the Playstion timeline and vice versa with the Xbox timeline. The Switch timeline didn't had Shovel Knight fighting ether of them as well. Sure it's a minor different but it's hard to say what crossover is canon here to count it as a canon feat.
I think Shovel Knight out stats her, but Shante can spam magic infinitely. Also, Shovel Knight doesn’t have a counter to wish magic. The winner is Shantae!

⛵️🌊 In the wide open seas, Shovel Knight sails on a small boat heading toward the harbor of Scuttle Town. Behind him is his seemingly malevolent rival, Black Knight, who sails on a separate boat in pursuit. Both take the same route to confront Shantae's rival, Risky Boots, who is currently disguised as Mayor Scuttlebutt.
Shovel Knight:
“Hm…”Their ships begin to reach the coast, but not before Black Knight tries to vocally claim his target.
Black Knight:
"Turn back, Shovel Knight! This one is mine."Shovel Knight sighs and tries to yell out a reasonable response, knowing it would ultimately be in vain.
Shovel Knight:
"This is no time for quarrel, Black Knight! If the Enchantress is resurrected, this entire island will be doomed!"As expected, Black Knight ignores him and continues sailing at full speed.

Cut to the half-genie, Shantae, sitting on a stone staircase near the coast. She smiles as she watches the birds peacefully. 🕊️🌤️
Shantae:
“…”Suddenly, she hears someone screaming. Turning her head, she looks surprised to see who she believes is Mayor Scuttlebutt running away from a blue-armored knight with a shovel. She raises an eyebrow as they both run past her and into town.
Shantae:
"Mayor Scuttlebutt??"Shantae quickly stands and transforms into a bat. 🦇 She then flies over the town in search of the "mayor." After a short time, she spots him screaming for help as the mysterious blue-armored knight closes in.
Just before Shovel Knight can catch Risky Boots, Shantae transforms back into a human and lands to block his path. She raises her hands to prevent him from continuing.
Shantae:
"Hey, hold on!"Risky Boots realizes her disguise has fooled Shantae, so she uses the opportunity to flee. She puts on a charade of fear, but once she reaches the pine trees of the forest, she smirks slyly and removes her disguise.
Risky Boots:
“Heh…”However, before she can escape, a black shovel descends from above, impaling the ground in front of her. Her eyes widen as Black Knight crashes into the grassy ground with thunderous impact. He rips his shovel from the earth and raises it to Risky's neck.
Black Knight:
"Going somewhere?"Risky sighs in frustration and rolls her eyes.
Risky Boots:
"You've gotta be kidding me…"______________________
Back in town, Shantae continues trying to block Shovel Knight’s path. He tries to dash past her, but she repeatedly steps in front of him.
Shantae:
"Hey! Slow down! What's going on??"Shovel Knight turns to her with urgency.
Shovel Knight:
“You must stand out of my way, miss! That was one of the Enchantress’s pawns!"Shantae folds her arms and raises an eyebrow.
Shantae:
"The what?? Who are you??”He examines her attire as he speaks, assuming she’s a dancer of some kind.
Shovel Knight:
"I am Shovel Knight, but there's no time for chatter! You're all being fooled. The mayor isn't who you think. Now, please step aside before someone gets hurt.”Shantae sighs and lowers her arms, looking away as she responds.
Shantae:
"I know Mayor Scuttlebutt is a lazy, backstabbing chocoholic…"She suddenly clenches her fists and glares at him.
Shantae:
"BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'M JUST GONNA LET YOU HURT HIM!"She whips her long purple hair at Shovel Knight, sending him backward. He steadies himself and grips his shovel tightly.
Shovel Knight:
"Then prepare to taste justice…"He raises his shovel in determination, ready to fight.
Shovel Knight:
"Shovel Justice!"Shantae stands silently with a blank expression. Only the sound of wind and crickets fills the awkward pause. 🦗 After a few seconds, she smiles in amusement.
Shantae:
"Um…” “…what?"Just as she finishes speaking, Shovel Knight swings his shovel at her face. Shantae quickly jumps back in caution. Shovel Knight leaps into the air and thrusts his shovel downward.
Shantae:
"Whoa!"Shantae whips her hair at his shovel multiple times, causing him to bounce midair like a pogo stick. Each bounce grows stronger, and after a few hits, Shovel Knight raises his shovel and performs a spiral slash. 🌀
Shantae quickly pulls out her scimitar to block his spinning attacks. Shovel Knight lands and charges up a shovel strike, slamming into her scimitar and sending her flying backward.
He then slashes the ground, sending a spark of energy toward her feet. 💥 She jumps, using the spark to rise higher. She pulls out her pirate hat to glide and draws her flintlock pistol.
She aims and fires at Shovel Knight. He jumps left and right to dodge the incoming fire, then pulls out his Flare Wand and shoots fireballs. 🔥 The first hits her pistol, disarming her. The second tears through her hat. Before the third hits, she pulls out her mirror shield, deflecting the fireball back at him and causing him to drop the wand. 🪞↪️🔥
Shantae lands and raises her hands, summoning smoke clouds that shoot natural bolts of lightning. 🌩️ Shovel Knight dodges again, but as he approaches her, she blasts him with magical fire. He pulls out a shield to block, but the force pushes him back.🛡️🔥🔥🔥
Shovel Knight:
"Hnh!"🔥💍🔥He quickly equips the Flameo Ring. By the time it's on, Shantae’s fire magic rips the shield from his hand, engulfing him in flames. She finally stops and exhales.
Shantae:
"Phew…"As the smoke fades, she’s shocked to see Shovel Knight standing unharmed, arms folded. The Flameo Ring has made him immune.
Shantae:
"W-what?! Aw, come on…"Shovel Knight:
"You fight surprisingly well for a dancer, but it'll take more than that to put down a knight of true Shovelry."Shantae giggles, feeling slightly flattered, but still determined to win.
Shantae:
"Oh, thanks for the compliment, Shovel Man—but I’m a little more than a dancer!"She belly dances, confusing Shovel Knight.
Shovel Knight:
"Um… what are you doing?"Shantae:
“Just putting on a show, good sir!"A duplicate of her forms behind him. Before he can react, the duplicate whips him with her hair.
Shovel Knight:
"In the middle of a battl- Ngh!"Shantae and her duplicate attack him in a back-and-forth combo. Shovel Knight tries to retaliate, but Shantae transforms into a spider lady, shooting webs that bind his legs. 🕸️ They leap at him, but he pulls out his War Horn and blows it, sending them flying into a building and reverting Shantae to her human form. 💨
❤️🏆❤️ Shovel Knight drinks an Ichor of Renewal, restoring his health. He then uses his Shadow Locket to summon a shadow clone. Together, they face off against Shantae and her duplicate, leading to an intense group battle.
Shovel Knight duels the duplicate, disarming her and striking with a charge slash. Meanwhile, Shantaefires cannonballs at the shadow clone, ☄️ who dodges and counters with tornadoes from a Gusteo Wand. 🌪️ Shantae ducks and weaves, but then Shovel Knight's pet slimes swarm her. 🟢🟢🟢 She holds them off with hair-whips.
Her duplicate tries to intervene by whipping her hair at one of the slimes creatures but gets caught—her hair is caught by the shovel of the shadow clone, who slams her into the ground. Shovel Knight throws a Chaos Sphere while the clone holds her in place, bouncing it against her repeatedly. The clone then throws her, and Shovel Knight engulfs her in flames with the Fizzle Wand. 🔥
Shantae Duplicate:
“Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!”As she screams, the shadow clone tosses an Alchemy Coin into the air before hitting it like he was using a baseball bat. It collides with the duplicate , transmuting her into treasure. 💥🪙 Shovel Knight and his clone high-five in satisfaction, but the clone immediately loses his cool when he sees all the loot that formed from their victory.
Shovel Knight Shadow Clone:
"!" ✨✨✨✨✨Shovel Knight scratches his helmet, watching awkwardly as his shadow clone desperately collect the treasure from the cobblestone floor.
Back with the real Shantae, she’s fighting off the slimes. She whips at one, but it latches onto her.
Shantae:
"Eek!"She summons an Invincible Bubble Shield around herself 🫧 as Baby griffins fly overhead, breathing fireballs. ☄️🦅 As they surround her, she belly dances and activates her Obliterate ability, destroying them all in an instant. 🩸💥🩸 She then transforms into a bat and flies over Shovel Knight’s shadow clone, who is busy collecting treasure from the duplicate’s remains. 🦇
The Shadow Clone looks up in shock while on his knees with the treasure falling from his hands.
Shovel Knight Shadow Clone:
“…”Shantae:
"See you later!"Shantae winks and transforms into an elephant midair before falling onto him with impact that cracks the cobblestone, destroying the shadow clone in the process. 🐘
Shovel Knight steps back in caution. Shantae charges in elephant form, but he uses his Coffer of Safekeeping ⚰️ to hide in a relic. She slams into it, launching it skyward. 🪽 Transforming into a harpy, she takes flight and claws at the relic, slamming it into buildings. With a final strike, the relic shatters—leaving Shovel Knight exposed, But before she can do anything, he already has his Blizzeo Wand in hand and uses it to freeze her entire body midair. ❄️
Shovel Knight then equips his Duster Knuckles and unleashes a flurry of punches on her frozen form, each hit cracking the ice more and more. He charges up one final punch and slams her with Meteor Impact, shattering the ice and sending her flying several feet back. 💥 Her harpy form fades as she reverts to her human self, crashing to the ground.
Shantae:
“Ow…”Shovel Knight watches carefully as Shantae quickly drinks a healing potion. ❤️🍷❤️ She then vanishes from sight with her Vanishing Cream, leaving behind a puff of smoke. 💨 He grips his shovel tightly, eyes darting in every direction. Suddenly, she reappears from behind in her Ninja costume and throws a set of shurikens at his back. The blades pierce through his blue armor, drawing sparks and shallow cuts.
Shovel Knight swings around with his shovel, but Shantae anticipated this. She ducks, rolls behind him, and with a swift kick, knocks the shovel from his grip. She then backflips off his chest plate midair, hurling another round of shurikens.
The blades cleave deeper this time, cracking more of his armor and drawing blood. 🩸 Shovel Knight drops to one knee and retaliates by tossing anchors at her, but Shantae flips high into the air, dodging each one with ease. He quickly pulls out his Gusteo Wand and shoots a small 🌪️ tornado—but the moment the tornado passes, Shantae is gone again.
Invisible once more, Shantae leaps behind him and hits a Tornado Spin Attack, slamming Shovel Knight into a wall. Before he can react, she throws another barrage of shurikens into his armor. She glares at him, watching as blood drips onto the cobblestone floor.
Shantae:
“It’s time to end this!”Shantae leaps into the air to finish him off—but just before she lands the final blow, a flash of light gleams off his armor. ✨Suddenly, two giant Phoenix Wings made of Fenix Feathers burst from Shovel Knight’s back, reviving him completely. ✨🪽✨The powerful beat of his wings sends Shantae flying away in a shockwave.
Now restored, Shovel Knight rises to his feet, gripping the long handle of his shovel tightly.
Shovel Knight:
“No trickery or witchcraft can put an end to my shovel of hope. Now, steel thy blade, witch!”Shantae exhales, then locks eyes with him—her gaze burning with resolve.
Shovel Knight charges forward at hypersonic speed and swings his shovel toward her neck. She blocks the strike with her scimitar and fends off a barrage of blows, but eventually, the pressure disarms her.
Desperate, Shantae attempts to whip him with her hair, but he catches it with his shovel, wrapping it like a rope. He swings her in circles before slamming her into the ground repeatedly. Groaning, Shantae gets to her knees and tries to drink another potion, but Shovel Knight quickly dons his Turkey Torque Hat.
Before she can drink, the potion transforms into… a turkey??? 🍷💨🦃
Shantae: 🦃🦃🦃
“What the—?!” 🦃🦃🦃Shantae stares in shock as her other potions also turn into turkeys. She drops them, completely baffled.
Shovel Knight (removing the hat):
“Knew this had to come in handy for something…”Shantae:
“Are you seriously just a knight?!”She leaps backward and activates a Fusion Stone, transforming into her Spark Dance form. ⚡️Electricity crackles across her body as she hovers midair, firing bolts at Shovel Knight. ⚡️⚡️⚡️But his (⚡️💍⚡️) Bolteo Ring shields him as he jumps into the air, performing a Spiral Slash to cut through each bolt. 🌀
As he closes in, Shantae uses her Gemjug Dance to transform into a tiny jug of gems, narrowly avoiding the attack. 🏺 Shovel Knight, momentarily stunned, digs his shovel into the ground and swings upward, launching her jug form into the air.
Midair, Shantae activates her final Fusion Stone—the Quake Dance.
🔥Her hair ignites, and flaming wings erupt from her back. A large hammer forms in her hands as she floats with confidence.🪽
Shantae:
“I’m Ret-2 Go!”Shantae swings the hammer down, but Shovel Knight turns intangible with his Phase Locket, phasing through the strike. Taking this chance to jump above her before becoming tangible again, he drops into a Super Shovel Drop, pogoing off her head. She winces but manages to counter with a wide swing of her hammer, sending him flying and shaking the battlefield with a shockwave.
Shovel Knight stumbles to his knees, struggling to steady himself as the ground quakes.
Suddenly, Shantae rockets toward him at hypersonic speed, her wings leaving trails of fire behind her. 🪽🔥🔥🔥 At the last second, Shovel Knight pulls out his Propeller & Rising Daggers to ascend and evade her. He then propels forward, and the two clash midair with tremendous force. 💥
The clash sends both fighters backward. Shovel Knight’s blade extends like a whip, striking with dazzling speed. Shantae blocks each blow, countering with heavy hammer strikes. Their duel becomes a blur of motion, shockwaves tearing through the battlefield and demolishing buildings nearby. 💥💥💥
Shovel Knight eventually gets another opening in her and slams his shovel against her hard enough to send her to the cobblestone floors and revert her back to her standard form. Shantae pauses when she sees all the destruction, a deep look of regret covers her face. She hears islanders screaming in the distance. Closing her eyes, she takes a breath, then locks onto Shovel Knight.
Shantae:
“No… I can’t let anyone else get hurt.”She refills her magic and transforms back into her Quake Dance form before striking him square in the face with her hammer, launching him hundreds of feet into the forest. Before he can recover, she teleports behind him and slams her hammer into his back, rocketing him through the trees. 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴💨💥
Shantae:
“I’m not a witch, Shovel Man! I am the Half-Genie Guardian of Scuttle Town!”🔥As he falls, Shovel Knight shoots fireballs from his Flare Wand, but Shantae flies through them, hammer raised. She slams it down onto his helmet, cracking one of its horns and creating a crater with the impact.💥
Barely holding himself up, Shovel Knight grips his shovel, bleeding and gasping. 🩸
Shantae hovers above him, preparing one final strike—but just as she swings, Shovel Knight parries with his shovel and blows into his War Horn, stunning her. 💨📣
Shantae:
“Hnh!”Before she can react, he activates his Chronos Coin.✨ 🪙 ✨Suddenly, all of time stops and freezes everyone and everything except for Shovel Knight. He exhales as he stares at Shantae’s body frozen in time. ⌛️🕛
Shovel Knight:
“Forgive me…” “Hnh!”Shovel Knight leaps forward and spins with a fully charged Spiral Slash, cutting through her midair.🩸🌀🩸As time resumes, (⏳) he lands one final Super Shovel Drop, driving his blade into Shantae’s chest and slamming her into the ground with a massive impact. 💥⬇️💥
As the dust settles, Shovel Knight stands from his knees and pulls his blade from her lifeless form. Shantae reverts to her half-genie appearance, now devoid of any life.
Shovel Knight:
“You fought well, Guardian Genie…”Shovel Knight turns away, then looks back one last time with regret before marching towards the horizon, his shovel at his side. And with that, he continues his quest with bravery and never ending resolve. 🌅
