Our community is all about sharing creativity, connecting with others, and enjoying the game we all love. As we are in the campaign season leading into a presidential election, we understand there may be an increase in political posts. This is a reminder that while we welcome a variety of discussions and interests beyond Minecraft, we have guidelines around political content to ensure the platform remains a friendly and inclusive space for everyone. Please take a moment to read through our guidelines to help keep Planet Minecraft a positive environment for all members.
Thank you for being a part of Planet Minecraft and for helping us maintain a welcoming and friendly community. We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines and contributing to a positive experience for everyone. Let's keep the focus on creativity, fun, and the game we all enjoy.
- Brief Mentions Only: Political topics may be mentioned in passing, but detailed discussions, debates, or extended commentary on political issues are discouraged. Keep political references short and relevant to the context.
- Don’t Push: Everyone eventually forms their own political views, but please avoid pushing an agenda or attempting to influence others to change their minds or votes. Statements should not imply that others are wrong or need to agree with your perspective. Our community should be a place where all members feel comfortable expressing themselves without pressure.
- Avoid Controversy: Political discussions often lead to heated debates and can create a divisive atmosphere. Avoid bringing up controversial or polarizing topics that are likely to cause arguments or discomfort among community members.
- Be Respectful: Always respect others’ opinions, even if they differ from your own. Refrain from using inflammatory language or making personal attacks based on political beliefs.
- Consider Our Younger Audience: Planet Minecraft has a younger demographic, with many members 13-18, who are unable to vote. Given this, it's important to keep the platform a positive and appropriate space for everyone. While we are primarily about Minecraft, we also recognize that this community has grown into a social platform that welcomes diverse interests beyond the game. However, political debates are often not suitable for our audience and can detract from the more relaxed environment we strive to maintain.
- Follow Community Guidelines: All political content must adhere to Planet Minecraft's general community guidelines. This includes rules against hate speech, discrimination, harassment, and any form of harmful behavior.
- Moderation Discretion: Moderators reserve the right to remove any content that they deem to be overly political, divisive, or otherwise inappropriate for the platform. Repeated violations may result in further action, including temporary or permanent suspension. It's difficult for us to remove divisive posts without it seeming like we're taking the opposite side of the viewpoint the main post is making. If you have a post removed, it's not because the moderator doesn't agree with your viewpoint, it's to help maintain a community that isn't fighting with each other when they should be relaxing.
Thank you for being a part of Planet Minecraft and for helping us maintain a welcoming and friendly community. We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines and contributing to a positive experience for everyone. Let's keep the focus on creativity, fun, and the game we all enjoy.

What if it's fake, made-up politics
Like my skins, which are based on fake and madeup military campaigns across an fictional world
Is that allowed?
What was stated here is nothing new to PMC's policy. It is just expressing those policies in the context of political discussions.
For Pride Month, PMC would point to these blogs:
https://www.planetminecraft.com/blog/the-golden-rule/
https://www.planetminecraft.com/blog/digital-etiquette-and-respectful-interaction-the-art-of-civilized-online-communication/
https://www.planetminecraft.com/blog/actions-that-can-get-you-banned/
Of course some people are not going to follow the rules. That's just people.
But PMC's policies apply throughout the year, regardless of what is going on. That's why I'm a bit confused about if it "holds up".
It will absolutely hold up. The question is if people can follow the rules. And that question is not unique to any certain month or celebration. It is being asked all the time.
