I frequent chat everyday, and always there are at least a handful of people that I know and can talk to. One day when I got on 6 of my PMC friends were on, I said hello to everyone, everyone said hello to me, and 2 or 3 different conversations followed. Then someone asked, "Who is Midnight?". Me being me I kinda poked fun at the question and replied with, "Midnight is Midnight which is me...". The person seemed to believe I was some big famous person who everyone knew, but I'm not. I know a large amount of people off PMC chat because they are all my friends.

So how do you make PMC Chat friends?

How friendships start:

Being new to chat is a hard thing to bear, when I first joined people were consonantly talking and I had no clue what was going on. Its very hard to join into conversations because of how people have their own little circle of friends. So what can you do?

Start off with small talk. Find a game outside of Minecraft that you love, you can start a conversation with someone and they will likely become your friend friend. No game outside of Minecaft? Just try talking about Minecraft stuff, like build interests or funny stories. Even go outside of games, talk about animals, music, movies. Many PMCers love anime, talk about that! People love to talk, if you're willing to listen even a little, they will love you.

When someone joins chat they normally say "Hello". This is a golden opportunity for you, by directly saying hello back you can easily start a conversation with that person.

How to earn respect from your fellow PMCers:
Being a respected member improves on how much people talk to you. Just because you're new or unknown doesn't mean you can't be respected. Following the rules well, helping others out when you can, and giving feedback on submissions when people ask for it will earn you respect and recognition. This will help start up conversations and people will be more likely to notice next time you get online.

Being a mature conversationalist gets you an internet point too. How can you be mature? Remember those people that didn't let you in on their conversation? Don't be like them.. Try to include anyone who wants to join in, having a conversation with 2 or 3 people at once is crazy and fun. Using proper grammar (to the best of your ability), spell things right, and try to use full words not text type! Most of you are on computers, you don't need text type! but i lik the tx typ. NO. OUT!

Turning a simple conversation into a friendship: Midnight's secret
Let me use my new friend ProjectHyrule as an example. I don't even recall what we talked about but after 1 conversation I made a new friend, how? When I had to finally get off chat I told him I had to go and that it was fun talking to him. Easy yes? Next time I saw him online which I believe was the next day I directly said Hi to him and started a small conversation. Still easy, where's the hard part already?! There is no hard part. By simply saying hello directly to everyone you talk to you can start a friendships. By recognizing them and by talking to them, the world doesn't revolve around you, having friends is better than being alone.

I go beyond just saying hi. I always say Morning/Afternoon/Evening, this is kind of like my own little tag per-say. You're welcome to use it, it helps make friends (:

How to make friendships last:
This is the hardest part about friendships; remember who is who. I have a massive list in my head of who I know, how I met them, and what they like. Remember who you know is key, you need to say hi to them when you get on chat after all. If you don't they will assume you forgot about them and you don't want that to happen. You don't need to have a whole conversation with each of your friends every time you see them. Saying hi, doing a bit of small talk, asking how they are will do nicely. You are always welcome to start a long, deep, and thoughtful conversation, assuming your friend wants to too.

It's hard being new to PMC chat, you feel out of place and alone. But remember this-,we were all there once. Don't get stressed because you don't know anyone, there are tons of awesome people on the chat!
