Introduction

The reason why I made this blog is to inform the people of Planet Minecraft about the tactic of "Diamonding and Subscribing Everything and Everyone". I'm sure that if you have been on this website for a while, you know what I'm talking about. If you don't, it's exactly what the title suggests. There are people who will diamond virtually everything and they will subscribe to literally thousands of members. They do this not necessary because they geniunely like your content, but most of the reason is for advertising. This is also not against the rules to do. Some may even argue that it is a beneficial and good thing. More diamonds for everyone right?

How It Works

Diamonding and Subscribing to a person starting out may seem like an act of kindness and it is. It's perfectly awesome to diamond and subscribe to people you like. But when you do this systemically, through thousands and thousands of people you barely even know or like, each diamond and sub is worth less and less. It's more for the benefit in return.

A lot of people like to look at who diamond or subbed their stuff and check out the person's profile, and may even feel obligated to diamond and sub them in return. So if you diamond like 100 projects/skins/blogs, you may get perhaps 20-30% of people who will diamond you back, when you do this in thousands, the more you shall recieve. It's even better if you are a high level because you can easily be on top of people's sub boxes, infact many people who do this become a higher level. Being on top of the subbox allows for other viewers to click them, which allows for more exp through more views on their content.

It Abides by the Rules

It's perfectly legal and abides by Planet Minecraft Rules. There's not really any viable methods to prevent people from doing this. People may be looked down upon by some for exploiting the system, but the benefits outweigh the cons. You will actually be more popular for giving free diamonds basically and there are people who will love you for that. The only cons is that your subscription box will be very flooded and you may not see the ones you care about the most. Although Sub 4 Sub is not explicitly allowed, in a way it does still exist with this strategy. If you don't know whether you do this or not, you're probably a normal person. It takes a conscious effort to subscribe to thousands of people.

Statistics / How to Discover how many subscriptions one has

I've gone and done some investigating and here's what I've found. And there are probably more that I'm unaware of.

You can see for yourself how many pages of hundreds of subscriptions people have. Just go to their Subscription page and add "?p=x" at the end of the url.
p meaning page and x means page number
replace x with the page number,
Here is an example of mine, I only go up to page 5
www.planetminecraft.com/member/craftyfoxe/subscriptions/?p=5

Ranked #Number of SubscriptionsPages (each=100 subscriptions)

2nd5,800+59
3rd5,600+57
4th2,500+26
5th2,400+25
6th2,100+22

This blog is not designed to attack anyone, but raise awareness to the tactic itself. Although this may be a topic that people don't like to talk about, this is an issue that I have thought that everyone should know about.

Please share your thoughts in the comments & Diamonding this blog and giving me feedback is appreciated.

I personally think that diamonding, but mostly commenting just for trying to be "nice", for "kindness" or for mere diamond and subscription greed is a very rude thing.

Seeing a comment saying something positive (usually random, just a short appreciation, nothing more) on a post you made is nice, but seeing how that same person has commented EVERY other project on the website, makes you feel bad, and ruins the purpose of the commenter, whatever it was: if he wanted to be nice or kind, well he failed, and if he wanted to get more subs, well, he will probably not get any subscriptions from you...

But, of course, it's usually a very efficient technique, since most people don't notice the trick.

So, "kind" and "nice" people, if you want to be nice, beware not to actually be rude and hurt someone's feelings :P

Thank you very much for this post, it's exactly what I was thinking about some days ago!

I do usually check out the profiles of people who subscribe to me or diamond my stuff, but I usually only look once, and I'm kind of stingy with diamonds in general, so I don't think this tactic would work on me. :-P

Also woah I didn't know that subscription lists had pages; I thought that there was a 100-subscription limit or something.

"Although Sub 4 Sub is not explicitly allowed..."

Saw this an wanted to clarify. Sub4Sub and Diamond4Diamond practices are definitely NOT allowed anywhere on our site. The rules could be clearer on sub4sub since they only specifically go into diamond4diamond if you're not looking at the "Chat Rules" section of our rules, but "no sub4sub schemes" is something we've enforced for a long time.

That said, subbing to someone as thanks after you see they've subbed to you or giving someone some diamonds after seeing they gave you some isn't something we're going to punish someone for. It's only when we catch you saying things like "hey, you sub to me and I'll sub to you" or "diamond all my submissions and I'll diamond yours" that it isn't okay.

Lol you diamonded literally everything I have in only a few seconds before. Although it is cool to have many diamonds, it makes your diamonds worth less since they are easy to get to the point that if I upload a dirt house you'll diamond it XD. I should work hard to earn it. Just keep that in mind.

I think you see giving diamonds and subbing as some sort of charity, but be aware it's a tactic used by other people for selfish purposes.

"Diamonding & subscribing" scratch the second part for me, I am still under 1 page. I do diamond a lot on projects I like or simply have a nice composition on a small house. As for the comment part, mostly I only diamond but sometimes when I like it, I comment and try to be constructive were possible - thus not only positive compliments.

As for the blog itself, it's great. The way you can look further than someones 100 highest subscription is neat.

Surprisingly most of us come out on a certain person with 141 pages...

Have a diamond!

This tactic came to light to me perhaps a week ago. I completely understand what you say. I do enjoy recieving diamonds and subscriptions, however if I were to see that someone has thousands of subscriptions, that diamond seems to hold a little less "oomph" to me since they must give away swarms of those little, shining carbon crystals.

On the same token it is still nice to recieve diamonds and for that person to take the time to give that diamond. Plus comments (in my eyes at least) with diamonds seem to validate the giving of a diamond more. Any complement is a good complement :)

Anyways, your words speak true. I am glad someone wrote on this and you presented your case well. Excellent work!

A good day to you!

Good message.
Although I probably have fifty pages of subscriptions
(I haven't checked, dunno exactly)
And I don't sub to people for attention.
I've never thought of it in that way, and if I'm being honest, I mainly sub to people because I have developed a habit of clicking the subscribe and diamond button everytime I see it, without thinking. O.o
I guess people could use excessive subbing and diamonding to get attention, but I never thought of it like that until now xDD
Again, this is a very nice blog, with a great message. :3

This is not aimed at any one person, since many people do this. It is directed at the tactic itself.

Haha, just kidding about giving a diamond and an empty complement! :D

I tried your ?p=x on the only person I could think off the top of my head that might do this religiously and he turned out to have exactly 141 pages of subscriptions! What are the odds?! ;D

I personally do both. I give out diamonds to any project that holds my attention for more than a couple seconds and I think they put some real effort into, but I only subscribe to members that post stuff that I like. Best of both worlds (mostly).

It's a shame how some people use this tactic. Some even do it with comments via "compliments" which honestly dastardize those that actually mean it. A real shame.

Edit: Massive respects and thanks for actually standing up and addressing this "issue"

Definitely. The title really caught my attention since I once made a blog about PMC diamonds

I've heard some people complaining about advertising this way but, like you said, it's not against any rules
