Hello everyone, Skullduggerycain here with another review. So, apparently, working for the PMC times means that I can't finish a TON of homework and go straight to watching Futurama until my brain comes melting out my ears. It's more like, Finish homework - Go to Soccer Practice for two hours (And accidentally spill all your water so that you're completelydehydrated, can barely breathe, are 3/4 blind, stagger whenever you step, and fall to the ground and nearly pass out after scoring a goal.) - come back home sweaty and exhausted - turn on laptop - get blinded by the flashy, bright Windows logo, and look for a blog to review. But anyway, enough about me! Today, I'll be reviewing 'How To: Keep Players on your Server.byGlazedDonut.
Anyway, I was tired, sweaty, and just wanted to lie down, but I knew I owed it to Malik to write something. So I scan the pop reel - and I see this blog. And I'm like -Ooooh! I haven't seen one of THESE blogs in a while!(No, no sarcasm there, I'm being legit. :P) Anyway, I click on the title, and I prepare to read something REALLY long, but then, I see that it's only a few paragraphs long (GOD BLESS YOU, GLAZEDDONUT!). So I start reading it, and I'm impressed with this guy's writing so far, I hadn't seen anything like it in a while. As I began to read further, I realized that I agreed with pretty much everything this guy was saying. If I ran my own server, this is pretty much how I would run it.
All in all, this was a pleasure to read, and it set a really good example for server owners everywhere. And also, really sorry if this wasn't the best thing I've written, I was really tired while writing it, and I hope it didn't effect the general idea of the piece. Anyway. Embers of Creation - By SeivelathThe world of Minecraft. It is a beautiful one, and full of existence. But the world was not always like this. For once, the world you know was a black void, a place without existence. A Void of Darkness. But for creation, the thing that can be associated with destruction is the one thing that can make all that exists around us. The fire. We may know it as the great force that will destroy our pixel art and our wooden shacks, but without it, creation itself could have never existed. At the beginning, just the Beginning, a single fire, within the black of the world has stood there. Its light shone only a small amount of the nothingness surrounding its light. But at time that the fire was ready, it dropped the creations tool, the Embers of Creation. As the small flames flew into the sky, it lighted all around it. As the ember fell to the ground, Energy of an unknown caliber started to form around it. As the ember touched the ground, a flare shot out of the very spot, lighting up and creating the world we know today. But only a vein of creation stood, while darkness still stood. As the fire begun to spit, more embers came from the flame, creating as they flew through the void. Trees, leaves, creatures were created from the flares that the embers spewed. Eventually, the flares buried underground to create the deep cavernous cave systems that have been explored. The flares eventually sat, and slowly turned into the magma that hinders the progress of mining. As the world was created, by the great flame, a tickle of darkness invaded the flame, created a small dark flame. As a dark ember arose, the first of the evil mobs had become into existence. As the embers created great roars of fire who brought the mobs into existence, the embers started to sink into the newly formed ground. As it sunk into the earth, It transformed into the ores we mine today. The biggest embers becoming the grand diamonds, while the smaller embers became the coal and iron. With a final roar, the great flame produced one last bust, spreading these embers around what would become the world. As the world formed, the fire laid dormant, slowly flickering every so often. As it had given life, it had to rest. But there was a problem, the mobs of evil, created by the darkness itself, wanted to reinstate the slavery of darkness to the world. There was only one true way to, to destroy the flame that had created existence. The great flame, before going into hibernation, had created one more thing. You. But what you choose to do now, weather to keep the flame safe, or let it be destroyed, that my dear reader, is up to you...~S
What is with Splegg?
Splegg is a cool new gamemode which is surging through Minecraft servers like a tidal wave of yolk and fun. However, some aspects of the game are not fun. Welcome to SlipB's section of the PMC times: [Malik write something witty here].
As I was saying, this new game mode is fun and all along with the new generic server hubs. (Who doesn't love those new pressure plate jump pads?). Do you know the ones that I mean? There's a central platform in the middle, which has paths coming off of it. There are normally about eight of them. They lead to various parts of the server like Factions (sigh) or creative. Others like The Hive have some minigames like Splegg or One in the Chamber (OITC). OITC was ripped from a game that a lot of people on the internet say that they hate, but when it's in Minecraft they're all over it. Anyway, let's carry on.
You've been waiting for me to explain what Splegg is, haven't you? Well, I'll tell you. Splegg is a gamemode where you get put onto a floating arena with a few people and get given a "Splegg gun" or some variation of the phrase. You must then right click to fire eggs. You thought this would be a fun game mode where you hit each other off the arena with eggs? No, you shoot the floor underneath them to create what I call: "OMG DUDE LAG YOU NOOB". But seriously, Splegg is a whole lot of fun. If your computer can't run very fast I don't recommend it because when the game starts you're going to get a whole lot of lag that'll probably give people the chance to shoot eggs at you and hurl you into the abyss.
