Everyone really seemed to like my last Pokémon theory blog, so today I thought I would make another one explaining ghost Pokémon. Ghost Pokémon are the most mysterious type of Pokémon, with many myths and legends surrounding them. Even the Pokédex can't resist inciting fear when encountering one of these spooky pocket monsters. Many creepy theories have been created around the ghost Pokémon, but I have spotted some inconsistencies and failing evidence, so I took upon myself to find the truth about these apparitions and possessed spirits of the Pokémon world. So put on your Silph Scopes as we take a closer look at the spirits that haunt the universe of pocket monsters.

Before we can talk about ghost-type Pokémon, we must separate them from the real ghosts in the Pokémon world. If you've played the games or watched the anime, you would know that there are, in fact, real lost spirits wandering every region in the Pokémon world. Some cases include the Lumiose Ghost Girl, the little girl's ghost in Phoebe's chamber, and the two ghost that roam the Old Chateau. Real ghosts are not limited to humans, however, as the ghost of a Marowak killed by Team Rocket haunts the Pokémon Tower in the first generation. These are not Pokémon, as they cannot be caught or damaged, which can be seen the Pokémon Origins anime. Yet, there are many cases where the spirits of the deceased turn into Pokémon, so we must analyze how these souls are transformed into haunting beasts.

If you have never read any of Pokédex entries or you skipped over them thinking it was just some useless information, let me fill you in on what you've missed. The entries can be anywhere from absolutely adorable to pure nightmare fuel. The latter is usually associated with ghost Pokémon, making you think twice about training these ghastly pocket monsters. However, I've mustered the courage to research further into these harrowing tales, and I've found something interesting. Many of these ghost-type Pokémon come from the spirits of dead humans, despite humans not being Pokémon. After gathering enough evidence and getting over the nightmares, I was able to compile a possible explanation for the creation of ghost Pokémon.

As I have stated before in my Origins of Pokémon Theory blog, all Pokémon stem from Mew, and their may have been other Mews on different planets. What if there was a Mew that adapted to be ghost-like? This may explain the appearance of ghost Pokémon that have no known origin, such as the Duskull and Misdreavus lines. However, some of these Pokémon just adapted to being spirits that did not have a physical body, and did not have the power to conjure up one. But that is where humans come into play. Humans were now developing cultures with religions and forming bonds with Pokémon. These humans would create bodies for them, as is the case with Golurk and Banette. However, some took a much darker route, possessing the spirits of humans or other Pokémon to form them into a Pokémon like Yamask, Honedge and Phantump. With the power of two souls, the Pokémon could now manifest physically and increase their strength. However, it does not limit itself to two souls, as the Pokémon Spiritomb is comprised of fifty souls from humans and Pokémon alike. But now I will go into the oddities and misconceptions of ghost-type Pokémon, namely Rotom.

Rotom is relatively new Pokémon in terms of the timeline, as it can invade all kinds of machinery and computers. My only plausible theory is that a Pokémon spirit corrupted an electric-type Pokémon, the most fitting being any Pokémon of the Porygon line. Speaking of electrical-type Pokémon, I will explain why Voltorb and Electrode are not possessed Pokéballs. Just because two Pokémon have the same face does not mean one is possessing the other, as is the case with Haunter and Voltorb. Also, the Pokédex cannot be taken too seriously sometimes, as it does not always have its facts straight, as is the case with many ghost Pokémon. However, I will discuss that topic in my next blog, Pokémon Inconsistencies.

So did you enjoy that? If you did, be sure to let me know by commenting down below. Also, do you have any theories about ghost Pokémon or something in the Pokémon universe, as you should be sure to post them in the comments. I'm also starting to work on a fan-created manga called Pokémon: Lost Civilization, and I'm starting to see if anyone wants to collaborate on it. But as always, see you in the next blog!

I have done a theory on Froslass which is an Ice / Ghost pokemon.

This is a great theory.

I pay close attention to pokedex entries. Some of them are very creepy.
