Have you ever watched your favorite cartoon and felt inspired to draw? I have!

You get a piece of paper and the sharpest pencil you can find. You sit down to draw and after 20 minutes and half an eraser later you're done! You take a good look at you work of art and think 'this isn't good at all' but you show it to you family and they all think it's great but you don't like it at all!

Have you ever had something similar happen to you? I know I have.But wait! Don't get discouraged and stop reading!I say all this to say: you are you own worst critic.Here are some pointers

Before you draw

• Get a sharp pencil with a good eraser (not those weird ones that just smear)
  
• Buy a pencil sharpener. It will definitely help
  
• Take multiple pieces of paper. Trust me. You will need them.
  

The Drawing
Realistic

• If you are trying to draw realistic. Don't. Start with drawing anime to get the shape and the movement of the body.
  
• Don't draw the eyes until you have the face (eyelids, forehead etc.)
  

Anime
I prefer anime but to each their own

• Don't draw in other artist's styles. Make your own
  
  
• Hands may seem impossible. The will become easier with practice, but you will never overcome the barrier that is hands
  
• Try to shade where you think the shadow would be cast on a real person.
  
• Practice one thing at a time (hair, eyes, hands, etc.)
  
• Draw Black and white when practicing with pencil & avoid crayons if all possible!=
