PVP is important!

BASIC PVP

PVP tips... yes yes we have heard this before! Eat, fight, win. Well I have something new to say about PVP. The trick isn't fighting or having good armor or a huge base. Its being hidden! People seem to always overlook the one big fact, that if you aren't seen you can't be hunted! I suggest hiding your home underground. It doesn't have to be pretty. It just has to put a roof over your head. Hide your chests under a block. NEVER leave them out in the open. I assure you that whatever PVP server you play on that you will get stuff stolen from you. I suggest using the server bank or ender chest. If the server doesn't have one then have multiple chests.

Armor, don't wear your Sunday Best. When looking for resources like wood or mining, wear leather stuff, NOT YOUR BEST. You will die for sure. If you wear your best armor while mining you will likely fall in lava and lose all of your stuff. If you are cutting down trees, your enemy will probably stumble upon you with a group. Now the bad guy has a new shiny helmet. People always get damaged armor. It happens but just because your boots have a scratch, don't throw them out! It really bugs me when people dump armor that hasn't broken yet. It still protects you!

Grouping up, well we all like to be in a group. Its human nature! Its safer... or so you think. Many times you can't trust a soul in PVP even if you have known them for years. You will end up with a griefed base. I have been back stabbed so many times its not even funny. The stress of it all not only hurts but affects your performance in the game. It is one thousand times safer to play alone. This doesn't mean not to be social! Talk on skype and chat all you want... just be careful who you end up trusting.

Food, people, food is great! It is also the most important aspect of the game. Without it you will die every five minutes. I suggest having a farm to bring in constant food. Mooshrooms are the best because they instantly provide stew. It is a fact the meat will fill you up more than bread or cake so go hunting often. Hunting can also provide leather and experience. So food is a biggy in PVP. When mining take food with you so you don't die down in a huge hole. Its likely that if you die mining, you won't ever find your stuff.

Begging...simply, People HATE it. Mods will likely kick you if you beg to much. Don't ask for supplies or food. In PVP people need that stuff. They won't just give it up. BEWARE, if someone agrees to help you it is probably a scam. They will kill you the minute you have something they want. PVP is savage and cruel. Get used to it. Begging is a huge no no.

Attack, bro. You need to at some point. If you spot a target, wait. Take a bow and hit him once or twice from a distance. When they see you, lead them to your ground. It will give you an advantage if you know the land. Strike with your sword. DON'T HESITATE! Your opponent won't. Keep hitting and dodging. Don't give him a chance to eat food or potions. If he runs just finish him with arrows. Potions are weapons as well. Poison and Instant damage come in handy!

Arenas, completely different fighting style. You should spawn with some items, like a sword, then you jump off the platform of safety into the chaos below. The best tip I can give here is to drive by. With a sword or an arrow, run around people slamming them once or twice then running off. In all the chaos of the people crammed into such a small place they probably won't even notice. Pick up items of people who have died so you don't run low on arrows. One thing that makes me laugh is when the noob runs through a field of enemies with his sword, thinking he is invincible, then he gets smacked to the ground. I sound kinda cruel right now I know. Its just if you know that you're out numbered and you run in anyway... its trying to show off. Don't you will die and lose points.

FACTION OVERVIEW

PVP in factions totally changes the game. It can help some people or hurt others. I will give you some ground rules in factions to help you out. Factions are basically teams that can claim land. This is a power you shouldn't be giving to everyone. If you just hand out officer abilities to your best bud in the faction, he will probably screw you over. But he is my best friend! Not in PVP hes not.

Starting a Faction is really simple. You do /f create (faction name). To invite you do /f invite (player name) and finally to faction mod someone you do /f officer (player name). Now it is time to recruit. Don't just pick anybody. They are pretty much all out there to kill you. This is what you say over chat, "Who wants to join my faction? I DON'T have a base but I would like someone to help me out." If they join knowing that you having nothing to steal, they will probably be more loyal.

Bases, Always hide it. If it is out in the open, it is only a matter of time until it is destroyed. So underwater, underground, or in the nether are all good choices. Make your base big. You don't want people being too cramped. I am not saying make it like a maze. I just mean wider halls and such. Once your base is done, claim it with the /f claim command. It will claim a block radius around you so you may have to claim more than once.

Power-  Power is a huge one in factions. Every time you die or someone in your faction dies your power goes down. Check people power before you invite them to your faction! If you have 10 power but they have -2 then you automatically lose power. If your power is under 8 people can come and claim your land! Be careful with power it is a big problem sometimes.

Faction Jobs-  Jobs are just a small attempt to organize what people are doing. For example, I have 8 guys, I send three for wood, two for ores, and the last three for food. When they come back with these resources you can expand your base, have a feast or whatever. It is just an efficient and organized way to gather things.

Allies, Enemies, and More, First off, Allies are great. They can't kill you and in some circumstances protect you (Not likely though.) Do /f ally (other faction name) and you wait and see if they accept. It is always good to have many allies in a new faction so they can help give you time to grow. Enemies aka fellow PVPers. To enemy someone you can do /f enemy (other faction name). You don't have to wait for them to accept! So get your sword and charge! In enemy mode you can raid your enemy in their claimed land! That is a big one.

Asking For Aid, Just don't do it. In my last PVP review I said don't beg. This is sort of the same deal. Nobody likes begging so just don't do it! If people agree to help you they will probably just kill you! Its a bloody scam. Never be very trusting in PVP, especially factions.

Faction Chests-  Have one. It is just a chest that everyone in the faction has access to. They can put in random trash like cobble in that someone else may need. In faction chesting the main rule is take something and then give something. I mean really, we all have crud in our inventory we don't really need. Don't be greedy.

Ranking Up-  This is huge. If you want to join a faction and shoot your way to the nice list than follow these tips. Be helpful. Who likes people who take but never give. If you take the crop replant the seeds. Be smart. Know your facts and use good grammar. People tend to gravitate to people they think have higher IQ levels.

Be Good to your Subjects- When they join, be kind to them. Try to provide food and armor. They need a plot of land to make a home. Tyranny will almost get you nowhere. Don't be to easy though. Remember, faction jobs. Just give your new members so time to assimilate into the faction. Try to be warm to them. Say welcome when they join, the whole shabang.

Hidden Chest- These are very important!!!!! You WILL get raided. It's a fact. Just be sure that you have your valuable stuff hidden away in a hidden chest. I prefer hiding my chest underground or something to that extent.  Truth is, you just cannot go without one. Everyone in your faction should have one... as a faction leader, you should probably keep an eye on your players chests. Just in case anything turns up missing.

Betrayed-  A word commonly used by nooblets. Factions are easy to compromise. If you invite just anyone, they could kill you, take your things and ruin everything you worked so hard to achieve. DO NOT invite just anyone, also take this from the flip side, this is a very good tactic for bringing down enemies. Sleeper Cells, Spies, and Inside Men can all help you take down enemies. Just be careful who you trust... on second thought, don't trust anyone.

TACTIC

Defense, its forty percent of PVP. Not only
is defense important in normal PVP, but it is a part of all PVP. Now defense is hardest in arena PVP. In the small area, you mostly will resort to running in circles and blocking. Most of the time, it doesn't really help. It just postpones the inevitable doom you are faced with, virtual death. So in arena, you are kind of screwed. When it comes to factions, defense is key to victory. Your base, believe it or not, is a big defensive factor. Walls are great. They keep the average player from getting into your base. Of course, there is a way around everything. Block glitching, TNT cannons, and Ender-Pearls all can bring your wall down. The trick is, not to die. If you die, you lose power and the enemy can simply claim your wall and walk right in. Always have a secret room or bunker as a last defense. Also, have some sort of tower that you can use to fire down on the enemy. If the enemy has to climb up a ladder to attack you, then just hit them off. The high ground gives you the upper hand.

Offense, most people think one of two things. Some say, "Ehhhh, not my thing. I will just defend myself." Others think, "Its PVP lemme at em!" Both views have pros and cons. The first one, if you never fight, you wont know how. Experience is key. It is important to know the right block to hit ratio and how to PVP. You cannot expect to just fight off any invader, especially if they out number you. The flip side is, if you take extreme caution and tend to make friends, you could hold out awhile without anyone seeing a need to hurt you. Then again, what goes up must come down. Peace doesn't last forever. Now when it comes to those who are ready to hack at some heads, here's what I have to say to you. Great. The more you fight, the better off you are. Fighting can make enemies though. Be sure not to have too many enemies. You better have good judgment before a fight. Can you win? Are you out numbered and do you have the best gear? You better. NEVER judge a book by its cover. That one dude without any armor could actually have a fire-aspect and sharpness five sword in his inventory. Plus, he likely has buddies around the area. You just can't see them. Be good and don't be too viscous. The best thing to do, is have a mix of both views. Get your fill of PVP but don't go too far. Too many enemies can come back to bite you.

PVP NIGHTMARES

Lag, its horrible in PVP. PVP is a fast paced gaming experience. If you lag, you are at a huge disadvantage. Your best shot to keep from lagging is to go to your settings and set your render distance on tiny or short. Then turn off game sound or music. Try to have a good internet connection as well. If you don't have a good gaming computer to play on,
bad connection, or overall lag issues, PVP just isn't for you.

PVP-Loggers, they are really annoying. Most servers should have a plugin that keeps people from PVP logging. If they do not, then its something you will have to deal with. The only thing you can really do against a PVP-Logger is to try and deal as much damage as you can, as fast as you can. If they successfully PVP log, then just mark their spot where they were last. Then wall it in and wait. Most of the time, the PVP-Logger will return in about ten or so minutes. If not, just forget it. He wasn't that important.

Hackers, are the death of me. I hate them so much. They ruin the art of PVP and they make me angry. There isn't much you can do against a hacker. Just fight them and try and record it or take screenshots. That way, you can report them to the owner. Most developed servers have anti-cheat plugins. If not, well just do your best to avoid them. Be sure they don't DDOS or anything harmful because if they can, getting on their bad side will just hurt you and/or the server. Hackers are annoying so don't waste time on them.

MODERN PVP

Weapons, in modern PVP are accually very different. Guns (either mods or plugins) can be added. This adds an entirely new element to the game. Considering that there are so many different types of Modern PVP, it's hard to come up with a concise paragraph or so. When it comes to guns, you have shotguns, snipers, pistols, and machine guns. Nobody really uses the pistol. It's pretty harmless and shouldn't be cared about. But when getting into machine guns... just pray. Run and hide behind cover. These things spray to hell. Only engage from behind. Never let them see you. Snipers have the advantage of being long ranged. Sadly, they don't have a fast fire rate. Therefore, aim for the head. When a sniper attacks, its hard to see or find them. Its best you just run for cover. Shotguns have a very low fire rate but they let off extreme loads of damage per shot. They have bad range so its best to just keep a distance. Servers revolving around Call Of Duty and Halo usually have these four guns.

Dayz PVP

Dayz, is an extremely hard form of PVP. It not only brings in the danger of other players, but natural elements, like hunger, water, and sickness. On top of that, the creators have pimped out zombies that are very hard to kill. The game doesn't allow you to mine or break blocks, instead you must scavenge for resources throughout the map. It is truly a PVP form for a master. Some good tips are to band together with a small force, team up. Never trust a bandit. In fact, keep a close eye on all of your team members. Each one could turn on you at anytime. When you die, you lose everything. Its game over. There is no set home, you are stuck back at spawn and have to start over. It's best that you be sure to find a city or a house and hide in it. Stand at the door with your sword up. Sometimes it is best to surrender and give up items. It is a better alternative to dieing. Dayz PVP really brings the hurt when it comes to Minecraft.

Recovery

Rebuilding, is one of the hardest things to do in PVP. If you work hard and you get killed and lose all of your items because of something stupid like a bad raid, or if someone destroys your base, it can be rough. The only tips I have here is to stay positive. It can help to find a noob faction and join them. Raid them and take thier stuff, it can give you a boost. Do not forgot the server shop. You need to rebuild quickly because being nomadic is much to hard to do.

Psychosomatic PVP

Weaponry, it is vital to PVP. Most servers give you a start kit to help you defend yourself when stuff hits the fan. In truth, your armor is a great weapon. I am not talking about having thorns on your armor, I am talking about intimidation. You could have enchanted diamond armor with the worst enchantments, and you still look untouchable. Your opponent could have decked out iron but they may not preform as well or even fight once they see what you are equipped with. Swords are great but a bit overrated. Have you ever seen someone fight with an axe? I know this sounds odd but server starter kits often allow diamond tools and an iron sword. The diamond axe may have more attack points than the iron sword, especially if it is enchanted. Never underestimate a bow. Though it isn't good to solely rely on a bow, it can be a handy asset at any range. If a PVPer is coming at you and you fire a bow on them, it can be disorienting. Finally, in my arsenal I have a fishing rod. Trust me, it is great for messing with people's heads and can really shake someone up. That strategy is known as psychosomatic PVP.

Sky Wars PVP

Sky Wars PVP is very difficult because it adds so many more aspects to the game. First off, the chest items you recieve are very important. You first need to find armor, golden apples, a bow, and a sword. Everything else is rather optional. The bow is very important because it is the best way to hit players off of the edge without getting close enough to endanger yourself. You should always try to find another way to get to the center island other than building there. It is far too easy to be hit or shot off of the edge. Try to enderpearl your way there. If you don't have a pearl, build to neighboring islands and kill the players there. Once you do, you have better supply amounts and one less opponent. You can always build a fort on your island to keep out other invaders, and don't forget that everything you have is useful! Have fun guys!

How to Hide Chests

Aren't those thieves annoying?
Here are some tips on how to stop them!
Those
thieves will be on every server. Even if it is against the rules, they
will find your stuff! There are a few easy ways to make sure they stay
away! Trust me, these tips can help you on any server. When
it comes to Factions, stealing is allowed. The only thing you can do to
stop thieves is to hide your loot. Ender chests are great but make sure
to have two, that way if one gets destroyed you still have your stuff.
Otherwise, it is probably best to keep your items underground. The truth
is, you need to keep your stuff hidden underground. Keep it a few
blocks below the surface and mark it. Bury your stuff like pirates do! Never
have a hidden chest room. It is way to risky! People always check
behind paintings and pressure plates. Just bury your stuff really deep
and you will be fine! Do not tell people about your spot. Do make it
clear where your stuff is. Always keep your most valuable items in a
hidden chest. Never put it in community chests. It will be taken! Overall,
hidden chests play a huge role in Minecraft. No matter what the game
type is, you need to have one. It is like a bank or insurance. Maximum
security is important!
