Have you ever wondered why you don't win so many PVP games like Hunger Games? It's because you didn't know some of the tips and tricks, that I listed below. Go ahead, scroll down, read them, remember them and beat other people up on PVP servers!

1) Unorthodox weapons

Lava buckets are the best; run away and then plop down some lava, picking it back up later.  Water also works to impede attackers' progress.  Flint and steel works in the same way, if you run out of lava buckets.

2) Enderpearls

One aspect that's severely underrated is using enderpearls. Throw it behind the enemy, and they won't expect a thing when you start wailing at them from behind, so much so that it will make up for the damage you take when you use it.

3) Potions

Use potions a lot.  Splash potions are much better in every way:  if you want to use a potion on yourself, such as a potion of instant health, then throw it at your feet, when the enemy isn't right there.  Always have a splash potion of poison available at the start.

4) Selection bar

Make sure your selection bar is strategized.   You want to have the right combination of items, sure, but you also want to have them in the right order.  If your potions of health are 4 spaces away from your sword, then it could cost you if you need to quickly use it.  Instead, have your potions 1 space away from the items you use, so that you can scroll easily to them.

5) Wolves

With a small pack of puppies, you can really take down any opponent in seconds.

6) Enchantments

Make sure your bow and sword have good enchantments.  Fire aspect is really good, plus knockback is even better. Another good enchantment is Sharpness. On level 1, Sharpness adds one heart bonus damage.

7) Critical Hits
Jump-crit your opponents in in a confined area where you cannot strafe. This results in extra damage.
(I am sorry for the pig)

8) Surprise Attack

Surprise your opponent by attacking them from behind, allowing you to get in some hits before they even realise what's going on. You may even land in 3 hits before they even realise what's going on, and, with a diamond sword on someone with no armour, it's enough to kill!

9) Strafing

Strafe (Run around) your opponent. This will result in you hitting them more than they can hit you.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to post them in the comments and I will include them!

Sorry, but I disagree with the 'Knockback makes it even better'. Only if you're trying to knock somebody off of a cliff as an unorthadox strategy. See, the problem with knockback is that it causes the opponent to fly backward, away from you. If you're chasing somebody, you get one hit off and they're now 15 blocks ahead of you. It's true that on some PvP servers that have some form of anticheat, that in some cases the anticheat will catch the player getting knocked back and fail the check as fly hacks and "rubber band" your target right back to you for another hit. In regular PvP, I throw away so called "God" swords if they have knockback, as it prevents you from getting combos which are very important in finishing kills.

It's just a tip, you can use and you can not. For me it's a tip because I play everytime with another person and we knock the enemy in each other so this is a very good tip at least for me. Good point though.

These are good tips, really, but there aren't any tips to improve a person's PVP skills.
