Hello, everyone at Planet Minecraft!

My name is Thomas. I'm the owner of Uniblue Media and creator of the texture pack, "R3D.CRAFT". I've been working on this texture pack for one year now and due to recent events, this blog was created to inform you about a situation that have occurred a couple of days ago.

...but before I begin to explain about what happened, here's an explanation on what R3D.CRAFT is, copied from my original thread at MinecraftForum:

R3D.CRAFT, pronounced "Red Craft" or "R-3-D Craft", is a high quality texture pack that can be applied to the game, Minecraft. Based on the default texture that belongs to this game, R3D.CRAFT tries to bring more realization, with high quality textures, smoother gradients and shadows, artificial lighting, small details or new details + so much more.

Here's the original thread at MinecraftForum: Click here!

Before I say anything more, because I know some of you who are interested are wondering about it... NO, R3D.CRAFT is NOT cancelled. I'm still working on it, and as far as I can tell, my works quality is only progressing.

R3D.CRAFT does not longer exist on this site. The very reason for why R3D.CRAFT does no longer exist on this site is because it was deleted on behalf of the moderators decision, because it did, without me knowing about it, conflict with the site rules. It is described as a "filtered texture pack" which means a texture that uses the original Minecraft textures as base, and remake it/create textures that overlays with it (somewhere in that direction I believe). In this case, R3D.CRAFT is using original Minecraft textures as base, which is reasonable due to the concept of the whole pack.

Now, it is a shame that it went a whole year before the moderators acted, but I should also be grateful they let it stay here for so long. It helped me build a group of people who follows my work (maybe you :3), and because of you who have given feedback and shown appreciation for my work, I've been feeling this pack is worth the amount of work I added and are currently adding into it. So I guess I should thank the moderators. Thanks!

As stated above, R3D.CRAFT will continue and expand. I have never had any intentions on abandoning this pack, and I won't do it now either. Too much work and love has been put into this pack. I'm not letting that go.

R3D.CRAFT will defiantly not stay here, as it's conflicting with the site rules. This means that if you want to keep following my work, I suggest you to follow R3D's fanpage at facebook, which currently almost have 2000 followers (link below). This is a place where I also upload exclusive previews of upcoming textures. The people who follows me so far, seem to appreciate that a lot.

R3D.CRAFT will still be updated at MinecraftForum, and I will begin to use Curse as well (you should check out Curse, if you haven't).

One thing that will involve PlanetMinecraft, is something called "R3D.CRAFT: Smooth Realism". This is a new version I'm working on. The current version is "R3D.CRAFT: Default Realism". The smooth version will not use the default Minecraft texture as a base texture. It will rather try to really realize the very shape and form of it, and the texture and colors as well. So far, it looks something like this: Image link!

So that's it for now. I'm sorry that this happen, if this made it more difficult for you to stay in touch with R3D, here, at this place, but we do have to respect the site rules. Please don't accuse them for anything. I don't want some kind of war on behalf of my texture.

I hope you will still enjoy R3D.CRAFT as much has you did when it was here. A new update will come out when Minecraft 1.5 comes out! :D

EDIT: R3D.CRAFT has now updated to Minecraft Redstone Update 1.5! Links below.

Something i find to be quite frustrating about this pack is that the guy just won't finish it. The birch wood is not there, the swords, tools, and bow are all fucked up, lots of missing textures, and lots of sadness. This texture pack has gotten so much attention over the couple years it has been out, and it is a shame that the creator, Thomas Angeland just won't finish it. I REALLY want to use this pack, but i do not want to use something that is incomplete.

Whats done is done, no matter how much we bicker about, the powers that be wont change their minds.
It all boils done to one thing, their jealous plain and simple. Their jealous because they couldn't think of something like that themselves, and their jealous because it beats the pants off anything they could ever do. Basically people who think like this have an I.Q. less then a soap dish. But don't hate them pitty them.
Mods just wondering if this was a mis judgement If you read rule 7.1.2 part 2 says ''You must change a significant portion of the work'' and uniblue has changed a significant portion of this work. Another statement in this rule is ''The general rule of thumb is that if it is not very obvious that the creation is different, the item is not allowed'' I can easily tell this is different. I know part 1 of rule 7.1.2 says you have to ask for permission to use someone's else's work as a template. Well let's just say that uni blue recreated minecraft textures then did what he did then that's not at all copying. You should ask uniblue his methods to truly know if it infringes on any of the rules.
I use R3DCRAFT 256x all the time! i love it, even if its not finished youve still done an amazing job at it, cant wait until smooth edition comes out! btw, just a tip from a user. The way youve textured the water should be changed to how it looks like in the item "water bucket" because it looks more realistic
Thats very interesting, that they letting you have it on PMC for like 1-2 years, and then suddenly just remove it. Very interesting.........
Because there is nothing wrong with this texture pack, It's just that the moderators are idiots.
Totally Agree m8!

Too bad it's removed, but as you said pretty logical too...
Because I can't be the only one who dislikes 'better glass' and 'smooth default' texture packs.

Without this rule, the site would be one, big chaos.

Still, one of the most popular texture packs being removed is a little too much, maybe there should be a rule with 'over 10000 downloads no delete' or something like that, because it does seem to be quite popular by then...

And I do have some (not that much, but still) experience with choosing to keep or deleting/removing/banning something.
Just allow the god damn texture pack mods, do you think anyone cares if you copy the texture pack, even cyprezz? No.

Omg. Did you even read half of this? Let alone any? Like seriously, how long have you been on pmc?
Yup, reread it, must not have been paying attention to the important bits

Textures are art, skins are art, you can't steal art. I'm not saying that this was stolen, it is filtered. It was one of my favorite texture packs there was. The mods delete things that go against the rules for a reason, and the rules are there for a reason. I read this a couple times, if there were no rules, pmc would just be another place with multiple submissions someone else already posted, stealing basically.
I can understand the logic behind the deletion but i am also disappointed.

i think the forum moderators did their job, I don't understand why everyone is hating on them, they are just clearly following the rules in which were set forth to prevent plagiarism, and no wonder it took them more than a year to decide whether or not to delete it as it is a very small technicality within the rules.

Oh definitely. PMC would be so much better if we kept all the hundreds of Steve skins and copies of other people's skins that get uploaded, as well as the stolen texture packs, spam blogs, and dirt houses. Only really stupid people would possibly want to keep the site free of those wonderful things.

Silly Moderators.

This pack was made with a filter applied over the default pack. Something doesn't get to bypass the rules just because it looks cool--that's not how the rules work. The rules apply to *everybody* and *all* submissions. Are you suggesting the mods should 'favor' certain people when moderating just because we like their stuff? That sounds pretty unfair to me.

Yes because this: bit.ly/Y5ufFf

Is obviously just a simple filter put over the default pack. This pack is not filters, the blocks and items are hand drawn. Although they look like default, they are not filters put over the default pack. Hence the "Default Realism" title.

"This pack was made with a filter..."

When you say it like that, it seems like my work is "only a filter" that anyone could have applied if they had Photoshop.Ã That's actually wrong. Very wrong. R3D.CRAFT would have been finished in one day if that was the case.

I agree with everything underneath. I just feel a little down when people believe my work is just a filter.
It's not just a "filter" ITS THE BEST TEXTURE PACK EVAR!

Packs are not being deleted because they're HD, they're being deleted because they contain content not created by the uploader (in your case stolen textures from Traditional Beauty). Instead of waiting for an announcement from us, you should try reading our site rules for an explanation.

Yes i know all this i just mean ' a lot of the hd defaults are being looked at since they have mostly had filters mostly on them'

nothing against this all or anything towards the site for my pack being taken down i was just stating that most the ones labeled Default have been assessed by you guys and the ones not fitting in the rules removed.

R3D is a series of detailed filters applied over the default pack. That is considered a remixed texture pack and not allowed.

If you'd take a minute to actually read over our rules you'd see that you are not allowed to edit and upload things that you did not create (in this case the default textures). All uploaded content should be 100% original.
Umm. R3D (Like faithful) Was hand-drawn. (Giving it the 'smooth' edge) And then a filer was applied to the hand drawn template. I really don't think it was 'Fully filtered' But seriously mod's, one time my friend's pack was removed for being 'stolen' when in-fact the linked pack was NOTHING like my friend's pack. More research on the 'duplicates' would be nice!
You handled what happened so well, and you show respect for the moderators. You've earned my respect. I'm glad you're going to continue the project, it just seems right that you do. Honestly, I look up to you right now. You sir, are an incredibly decent, and talented person. :)

I can't say I blame the moderators, they were just doing their job. I wish I could download better than 64x, but I'm downloading too many texture packs for my reviews '-_-.

I'm not a big fan of realism either, no offense. Hope you can get it back on here though, to me, this is a perfect example that simple textures don't have to be simple. Good luck to you in the future.
Im getting really annoyed with alot of moderators recently, they are being way stricter with rules and taking them to a further extent. sometimes i think mabye they should message you and tell you before they delete your work.
Also i fell some moderators dont even read the desc of things.
I love R3D though, cant wait till its updated

Why should we message someone before we remove something of theirs that breaks the rules? It's their responsibility to know the rules. As Uniblue admits, he was not aware that his pack broke the rules because he was not up-to-date with our site rules.

The rules are there for a reason. We know that you might not agree with some of them, but rules are rules. We put them there for the good/safety of the community.
Could you please explain how deleting a texture pack is good and safe for the community?
 • the_soup

Well, firstly we use our site rules to enforce a high level of quality for all uploaded content on PMC. That includes making it not allowed to steal/edit work from others. Secondly, for safety, it is actually against the law to edit the default MC textures and upload them as your own work. They are created and owned by Mojang and Mojang prohibits the redistribution of them. This could get both our site and the original uploader in trouble.
How does that apply to safety?

Exactly like I said. People who break copyright law are liable to be sued by the people who owned it, and we could be liable as well for being the people who hosted the content.

Stupid rules? These are the rules Mojang enforces--and therefore we enforce them as well. You may not distribute edited MC default textures, this is basic copyright law that you will find on nearly every reputable content website.

We are not responsible for how MCForums enforces their rules. That being said, open up Minecraft and look at the text at the bottom right corner. 'Copyright Mojang, do not distribute' means that it is against the law to distribute textures/files from Minecraft. This is the only rule they specify and we strictly enforce it.

MCForums also has this rule and you could probably make a case to them to remove that pack there, as well. That being said, they seem to enforce their rules less strictly than we do. Like I said, we are not responsible for how they enforce their own rules.
