I've never understood fan armies. Generally speaking they have one of the worst reputations of any internet communities. Chances are that any video game video posted by a major youtuber will have some sort of argument going on. A good example of this was when surgeon simulator was released. Pewdiepie did the first major video of it, a few hours later, Robbaz did a video of it, the video was soon flooded by the "Bro Army" accusing him of being a thief, tearing into him over everything, generally making themselves look like obnoxious whiny children, which in retrospect, they probably were. Anyone can do a video about a game, it's not some sort of first come, first served basis. But yeah, this is drifting from the main topic here.
It seems that fanbases tend to upload a lot of submissions relating to their idols on PMC, and there is no problem with this. Except for the fact, a majority of this content is stolen. Or spam. Not useful content. Content that will get you warnings, submission removals and ultimately bans if you keep uploading it. A quick search of "Honeydew" in the most recent section of skins revealed 8 skins I deem as removable. In one page. Slightly editing skins or just uploading the original skin is not allowed. Uploading the honeydew skin with the description "I am the yogscasts number 1 fan, and this is my idols skin" won't earn you any XP, it will be removed, and you'll get a slap on the wrist from the banhammer. The real fanbase I've noticed suddenly becoming a problem though, is skydoesminecrafts fans. And there are 3 different areas of the site they seem to affect. The first is skins, people seem to spam upload his skin on this site as if its acceptable, yesterday I deleted pretty much a dozen of them, and they were only ones that were reported, my guess is there are loads more out there. This is not allowed under any circumstance, I don't care if you're his biggest fan, or you love his work, that's not going to make me go "Oh that's ok UserXYZ, you're his biggest fan, feel free to break the rules". It's going to make me go "Have yourself a deletion and a ban for your troubles, good job with breaking the rules". The second part is Texture Packs, people spamming the site with "BUDDER TEXTURE PACK!!!!". Yeah, these definitely aren't allowed, they're pretty much the worst example of TP spam, changing rain to the gold ingot texture, and giving every single block the gold block texture, it requires no effort, don't give me the whole "Oh it took me a week to make this texture pack" spiel, I know you're talking rubbish, don't lie to me. This again will earn you a submission removal and a ban. The final section this affects is the mod section, somewhat similar to the spam that fills the Texture Pack section. Except it's not "BUDDER TEXTURE PACK", it's "BUDDER BIOME MOD". These just add a biome full of useless blocks that use the gold block texture, and have tree's that have the gold block texture, and maybe, just maybe the water will be yellow. This again is spam, an easy mod. And again, will earn a removal and ban.
Now before this comes across as an attack on the skydoesminecraft fanbase, and other fanbases, it's really not. I know a majority of fans are good members, who read the rules and follow them. It's just the 1% who ruin the fanbases reputation by not reading the rules. And that I suppose is the ultimate message I'm conveying here, read the damned rules people, don't just jump on the site, break the rules and complain that you were treated unfairly. Read the rules, abide them, and you'll become a respected member. But I'll elaborate on that next time.
