You know, I've only been here at PMC for... roughly a year and a half. Most of that I didn't even bother to get an account of any sort for. I was content to sit quietly, skimming thru projects, texture packs and skins, looking for hidden gems among a sea of common place garbage, brandishing a small smile when I found something that deserved respect not because it carried a well known or liked name, but because hard work had been put into it. When, a few months back, I decided to finally get an actual account and check out the forums, I fully expected it to be the same, only this time I was looking for Roleplays, not projects. Needless to say (as is common with most things associated with the PMC RPC) I was let down for the most part.

I arrived, found an RP, and signed up, not really thinking about it. I did what I love to do (write) and I did it for fun. Right away people started to take notice, praising my writing abilities. I, not really thinking much of it again, just went with it and didn't give it much thought. Eventually I was invited into a group of Roleplayers who could only be tagged as the 'Best of PMC'. Seeing what PMC had to offer I'd be hard pressed to disagree. We had our fun little times in Skype, moaning about the quality of the RPC, the lack of original Roleplay ideas, even laughing at each others mistakes. Eventually the group decided to do some stupid things, got themselves in trouble and the rest is history. I, for my part, was content to sit by and watch with a smirk on my face.

I find the majority of the drama and rather stupid junk that clogs most of PMC to be, frankly, humorous as all hell. I don't fancy myself a troll mind you as I quite honestly find people throwing hissy fits over small things to be annoying when I have to listen to it. I simply enjoy the irony of watching others get embroiled in pointless fights and drama while I sit, chin deep in it all, completely unattached and unaffected. Call it my own little... tragedy.

Basically My Take On PMC

Since then I've been quiet on the forums, occasionally watching an RP thread and seeing the further decline of anything original and decent. And laughing all the while. There was no call for me to join any of the roleplays. I was busy with other things, things like work or relationships or firearm maintenance. Most of the PMC news I got was from the still existent Skype group.

As it passed though, recently I found myself watching a rather unique RP thread. It wasn't unique in it's story or plot or execution (God forbid the PMC community try something a bit new.), but because a rather different sort of person from the norm had started it. Naturally (and pretty much only due to what that person was) their RP began to fill up fast. The majority of the applicants had probably never role played before and those who had submitted relatively adequate applications, normally no longer than half a paragraph in the backstory department. I didn't think or care much about it until tonight.

Oh for the love of...

Tonight, while browsing the forums, I spotted a new Recent 20 post by a certain individual who was relatively new to the role play scene but had, during my observation, shown to be fairly competent and original. Curious, I read on. Apparently, on the same thread mentioned earlier, an applicant had been denied for having an app that was not 'Top notch' and too full of 'cliches'. The member I mentioned took it upon themselves to point out that the denial was rather ill thought out, as almost all of the applications on the thread were less well written or as lengthy. Mind you, the way this member pointed this out was somewhat sarcastic and could have been a bit less full of attitude but other than that it was a rather well thought out and presented argument.

Which was deleted less than five minutes later.

If there is one thing I find unacceptable in this world, it is people trying to brush their problems or mistakes under the rug without acknowledging them, even more so when the person involved has every reason not to do so and could easily deal with them. It's worse when they decide that destroying any evidence of the mistake is a good option, even if that decision is based off of a moments emotional thought.

So I took it upon myself to point out just how much of a mature act it was to get rid of the evidence in what I personally think was a rather nice and polite (for the most part) post.

Which was deleted less than four minutes later.

Which brings me to the point of this blog: Stop trying to keep your E-Cred.

Good god people, this isn't the Japanese business world. You don't need to save face when you make a small mistake. This is the internet. Every little thing you type may be permanent but in less than a years time who in gods name is going to give a rats ass about it? You think that your future spouse is going to one day take a fancy to your past E-life and go browsing, only to stumble upon someone pointing out a mistake you made, thus causing them to lose all hope in you and leave with your immigrant gardener Jose? Grow up and own up to your mistakes.

Stop trying to brush things under a poorly hidden sheet, only to yell or threaten at others when then point out that, hey, there's something big and glaring under that sheet. It doesn't help your cause any when your reason for getting rid of any evidence of the mistake is because someone was a bit rude in pointing it out. If anything that's just a bigger reason for you to own up to it in a polite manner, just to show that you are the bigger person.

Nobody is really going to read this or care, let alone know what I'm referring to here. I don't expect anyone to. But I felt the need to make another blog for a long time and this was the night to do it.

Just remember guys, the internet may be forever but your reputation on it isn't. Oh, and

While I'm not particularly new to the Forums, I'm really new to RP. I've, in a sense, "grew up" in a crappy RP environment. I've heard that RP used to better from all the old-timers and vets, but I'm more interested in actually making it better. We can whine abut the past all we want, but unless a majority break away from the main and make RP high-quaility again, we're just wallowing in our own filth.

Mini-rant aside, I really liked this blog ^-^ Deserves the reel, most definitely.

Yeah this was less about the poor quality of RP here on PMC and more about the whole trying to cover up a mistake in a scummy way thing.

I've already found another site for RP that is far superior to PMC so I honestly don't care much about the RPC anymore.

Brilliant.
"Causing them to lose all hope and leave with your immigrant gardner Jose?" I had to laugh.
