Note: I'm not leaving PMC guys :D This blogs ending is outdated and I will still post some things :D

Looking back at where this stuff had started, I can't help but feel some serious nostalgia when I consider what happened and what will soon come to be. This is a basic story of how I ended up playing minecraft and the things I have done in it.

Want to skip the story and see the reason I'm leaving PMC for some time? Scroll down to the bottom of the blog.

Part One: The first experiences

It was an interesting start. When I first saw Minecraft, it was my oldest brother showing this video of a guy who made a computer of sorts followed by this guy called MadHatter and his complex multiplayer subway station. So, I found out about the demo version and tried it out. It's a funny thing really how Minecrafts early days seemed like, but that's another story in itself. My first attempt at building something was a brick house, it could fit maybe myself and a cow 0_0. I decided after a few minutes I had to get the full game to really get a full experience.

My first world was an island of sorts and, because of my computers limits, I couldn't see very far. A cave was nearby and I had that world for maybe a day before I rage quit the world when loosing 37 iron in lava :(

The second world was more average. It started with my house being built into a hill, being destroyed by TNT when I learned you couldn't pick up TNT without setting it off (at the time), then moving into a fairly large house I made based on a Dutch Castle. I spent some time on this world and made a city of sorts with random houses, a mine cart going all around and a cobblestone wall surrounding it. This world was then corrupted when I installed my first mod Flans plane mod and it was lost :(

The next world was similar, lots of work and a rail system with little point in a world that ended up being corrupted for a reason I could never figure out :(

Part Two: The first adventure map

Around this time I played this game called Call of Duty 2 which was a game with the Western, Eastern and African fronts from WWII. One set of missions I liked so much was based on the 2nd Rangers attack on Hill 400. I liked this so much that I decided I would recreate the hill and the town nearby.

I made the hill with lots of MCedit work and some fine tuning in creative mode. Following that, I made a town nearby and decided to call it Argem (this name may or may not seem familiar, i'll get to that). Argem in this map was quite simple and small consisting of a few houses and a church with Hill 400 looming over all of it.

I then decided that I would create something more with the map. I tried to make this story of a player who tried to play a normal game in his little town until he was forced to leave because of Skeletons and Zombies from an ominous nearby hill. While the player was in exile from his own town, the story goes that the mobs, with endermen help, would fortify the region with defenses and traps because they knew the player would return.

The player returns seeking revenge and fights off the mobs who destroyed the town, set up TNT canon traps and built a complex defense around the overlooking hill. The story ends when the player walk off the hill and finds that the mobs left behind vast heeps of material meant for further build-up, instead the player would rebuild his normal Minecraft life.

I had my oldest brother try the map and he told me that the redstone could have been much better and that the story and background didn't make much sense, but he still noticed all the time I put into the map. At some point I lost the maps save and I was never able to upload it to anything :(

Part Three: The Argem Forest & Tarawa's Bloodshed

Now there's the story of my first upload to my profile here on PMC, The Argem Forest. This map was very simple in gameplay and the story could have been so much better but I think it was an OK start. If you want to try it, the name of the map in blue is a link so click it to see the maps page.

I was shocked when this map didn't receive any feedback for 8 months 0_0. My hope was that if I could get some feed back and critical reviews, I would be able to take those as lessons and improve the map and learn new things for future maps, but this didn't happen so the map never received much updates or revisits.

My first thought as to why The Argem Forest failed (In a sense) was because 1, I was a brand new guy on PMC no one knew and 2, because people had no interest in fictional adventure maps. I looked around on PMC for some time and I couldn't help but notice that (at the time) my favorite subject World War II didn't have many projects related to it, and those that did exist didn't have much or were simply terrible in a historical or building sense.

This brought my motivation to create the best WWII map I could think of and so Tarawas Bloodshed was born. I found a map of the island and it's defensive layout and made the map based on that map. It took about 1 month to create the island, build all of the defensive structures and decorations and finally make it playable by adding a goal of lighting up the whole map and fighting the mobs found there.

I also wanted something for those who might have wanted to know about the island and the battle fought there so I added these books which were spread out across the map and told some basic information about the battle. In the end, the map was less of an adventure and seemed more like a constant grind to take the map over so I called it a "Challenge map".

When I finally uploaded the map I received my very first comment from this guy named Jimmiekosmo who simply said "Nice man!" I also had a comment from a guy who really liked all of the details I put into the map. Since it's release, I have seen Tarawa's Bloodshed as the true start of my PMC page :D This maps theme has inspired another map with the same basic features with a different setting and much more details, this map was Stalingrad: Blood Stained Rubble. This map was made smaller because of the complex series of destroyed buildings and sewers.

Part four: Further development

Tarawa and Stalingrad are fairly simple for many but tedious in gameplay, so I thought of trying out the story based gameplay once more as I first did in the Argem Forest. The Lost Battalion was a map based on a movie of the same name which featured Rick Shrouder.

This map didn't take me nearly as long as the previously mentioned ones but the gameplay seemed to work much more smoothly in my opinion. The player was a First World War American soldier attacking the German lines and holding a strategic position for as long as possible. The added difficulty was that the map was in Hardcore mode so if you died, that was it.

The map ended up doing much better than the Tarawa map and so I made a map with similar features and gameplay but a different setting. This map, Pointe Du Hoc: Scaling the Odds, wasn't nearly as successful as The Lost Battalion, but it showed some of my potential in building War related maps.

Part Five: WBF

At this time I was a Junior in High school and we had a long look at the American Civil War for my American History class. After this was done, I couldn't help but feel inspired to create a Civil War map. When Brothers Fight was the result of this inspiration. The goal was to create a story based map with some battles using some of the latest features that were added at the time.

The map follows the story of two brothers who fight in the war and deal with it's aftermath, but it also contains many subplots that were my atempts to create a vision of what life was like at this time. In total, it was a three month long project that has the most redstone use of any of my projects. Because of the redstone, the map was plagued with issues since its release (seriously, look at the maps update logs to see what I mean).

Part Six: The random projects

While I made my projects, there were also a lot of random ones that came up so I made a world called The Random Projects World which, of course, has all of the random things I built in my free time.

Another thing I consider random in my WWII Forces World. This world had only tanks at first and now holds over 100 ships, trains, planes, tanks, cars and artillery. This is the last project I'm updating before I ship out for Bootcamp.

Trapped is a mini map I made to test some MCedit filters I had found and was just a side project, nothing more than that. All you do is fight as the Japanese against a US Taskforce on this fictional island called Rikara Jima.

Part Seven: The blogs

My first blog was, and still is, surprising to me. It's a blog tutorial that gives the basics of building war related map scenes of destruction. It was really intended as a little side thing that I thought no one would care for. How I was wrong and completely shocked to see that it got 37 diamonds in a day (it has 53 as of Aug. 6, 2015) and made it onto the home pages scrolling thing (name escapes me).

I decided I would make a "sequel"to my wreckage blog and showed the Basics of Tank building to my viewers. This blog gave the expected result when I uploaded the wreckage one, not too many views and diamonds with only a fair ammount of comments.

The blog that came before this one was my views on 9/11 because I wanted to post something relating to the aniversary. To get what it's about, you would have to read it yourself because it wouldn't be appropriate to say what it's about here.

Part Eight: Skins and the texture pack

I also made a whole lot of skins that I uploaded to my PMC page. Most of them are WWII related skins but there are also Civil War skins and an Assassins Creed skin. I won't post a link to the skins individually so just take this one.

As things turned out, I also posted a WWII Texture Pack. This was made in collaboration with two guys named Digitalsquirrel and Theredeyedninja, both of whom were my friends but I haven't talked to either in a while :( The texture pack was originally Ninjas idea and I was just there to help with it. Digital squirrel helped as well but it wasn't too much he did. It was originally made for just one or two maps which are my Battle of the Bulge map and Normandy PVP map.

When the texture pack was uploaded to my page, I was shocked to see how quickly it gained views and downloads. Ninja and Squirrel eventually faded out and I lost contact with them (sad story that) and it fell upon me to update the texture pack.

Part Nine: The "special" map

The "Special Map"Refers to my Normandy PVP special which was a fiasco to make. It was the last project me, Ninja and Squirrel worked on together and it ended up in chaos. During the building of the map, my youngest brother broke my computer and it took me 6 months to get the money together to extract the memory and retrieve the map and other important files. The computer was eventually repaired to working order but the Normandy map itself was finished on a Macintosh computer.

Because of how long it took to upload, I decided it would be my one and only subscriber special. It's meant for multiplayer use and it pits two teams against each other fighting for this French town and it's surroundings. I think the details on the map are the best I ever did :D

Part Ten: Navy

I kept this part a secret with little to no indication of it until now. Last March, I offically signed into the US Navy's DEP Program and I'm shipping out for Bootcamp in just 5 days. This means that for 2 or even 4-5 months I won't be able to update my Minecraft projects at all, even after this period of time its doubtful I'll be able to make more Minecraft projects :(

And so, I made this blog to tell you guys about my time playing Minecraft to give a proper farewell before shipping out. I'll say it was great to place every single block that I did these last 4-5 years since Beta 1.2.

Thanks for all of the support!

AngryLoyer.

It probably shouldn't, but it bothers me that people think there's a war America's involved in right now. Just becuase one is deploying doesn't mean there's a war going on. My father served on the Wall. But he didn't fight. So, to the people who think he's going to war, he's likely not, unless we get invaded by Russia or something.

If I could go back, I'd update my texture pack and WWII Forces map. Then I'd probably start a new map with a Pacific theme or African front.

So seames, why can't you update you're projects, even though you're back and alive from boot camp? Because, i figured it as unusual for you to not update your projects, since you can only be called for combat in a deployment of troops in a place like, whatever that place is. why can't you? i'm still asking something..

I can't update my projects because I don't have a computer to use that can play Minecraft :( I'm sending all of my replies from my phone and pretty soon I'll be going on a 8 month deployment, which means I won't even be able to respond to any comments I get :(

He's back.

He's going on an 8 month deployment, which means he can't do ANYTHING until the deployment ends. he still has his computer, but it's at home and he's at boot camp. Hopefully he'll be back by the end of the decade.
