my story :)

(Totally didn't forget about this no not me never)

This is is a perspective of a random character I just made up for this contest

It was 12pm on a school day. I knew mom would be upset that I stayed out so late but I didn't mean to- I just got caught up in a game at the arcade.
Walking down the street I saw a dark figure, seemingly watching me walk. It started drifting towards me..as if it was floating.
I started to feel light headed, which was odd as it came out of the blue. It's deep green eyes stared at me as it drifted closer. Backing up as it came closer, I reached for my pocket knife but it was gone. I looked back at the dark figure. Now it had a arm reaching out.
It was about to grab me when I started running, running in the direction of my house, running towards a place with people who could help.
I was fast but the dark figure was faster. As it caught up with me I felt dizzy and stopped running, slowing to a walk to catch my breath. Right as it touched me, I was woken up by my brothers vigorous shaking and shouting my name.
It was all a dream..
I decided to just take a walk. It was around 9 in the morning and it was a chilly day. Picking a rose off a bush as I walked, I pricked my finger. "Ow-" I said wincing in pain. I wiped my hand on my shirt and continued walking.
I don't exactly know why I was walking in this direction as it's different from my normal route. I dropped the rose on the sidewalk and kept walking. I stopped at a buss stop. The same place I was when my dream ended.
"Lucas~" I heard a chilly voice call my name in a hushed tone. Whipping around I yelled "Who's there?!"... no answer. I thought it was probably the wind and sat down. Looking straight ahead, I started thinking about the rose. I stood back up and as I did, there it was. The dark figure of a man. Watching me.
"Hello..?" I said hesitantly. It drifted forward, grabbed my arm and I blacked out.
The cop sighed as I told him this. They had found me in the woods, badly injured and passed out. Sipping his coffee, the police officer looked at me. "You expect me to believe this Tom foolery?" "Yes" I responded "because it's the truth." "What did this mystery man look like then?" He asked dismissively. "I told you already. It was a dark misty figure!" I said raising my voice a bit
No one would believe me

I'm just a random 17 year old boy who was found half dead in the woods.

um just a question: how short does my story have to be to count as a short story? currently my story is 1300 words long and it is almost done.
