Oi, everyone! It's me, Ocean, and I'm back for another Blog post! Today's topic is on something I noticed in the Life of Steve Blog Contest just the other day.

Today's topic: Should Staff be allowed in PMC Contests?

Now, I know this may cause true controversy, but there was a Forum Moderator that entered in that Contest, and is now in the Finalists. I won't put said Staff Members' name in here, as much as I would love to, but they know who they are and I'm not going to make them look bad by pointing their name out.

One of the issues I have with that Staff Member entering is that they were given more Diamonds than other contestants, just because they're Staff. I personally think that Staff shouldn't be able to enter into Contests such as this one, because they're already popular and will recieve more votes than everyone else. They have much better of a chance of winning, and I'm sure the Staff Member who entered knew that.

The second problem I have with it is that it makes it very unfair for the rest of the contestants. No one but that Staff Member wins, purely because everyone votes for them. Myself included, there were lots of people who entered that practically nobody gave a Diamond to, with only 2-3 Diamonds given to us. Meanwhile, that Staff Member got about 96 Diamonds, and while their entry was very good, I felt it was very unfair for everyone else. I understand that some people did it out of respect, but I find it outrageous that they got that many for their entry.

The third and final problem I have is that the Staff Memeber pretty much cheated. While they did write a story and enter it in, they were already well-know and everyone liked them, so of course they would be getting more votes! In my opinion, that's cheating in and of itself! What about the other stories that got lots of views, but only 2 people gave a Diamond to them? Are they just bad at writing, and they should just give up because Staff will always win those contests? It makes the rest of the community look bad, in my opinion, because it makes the rest of us story writers look like we can't write a story very well.

Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed reading. If you did, I'd appreciate it if you gave this post a Diamond, or heck, even a Favourite, since it really helps me out as a Blogger. If you'd like more Blogs like this one, hit that nice, shiny Subscribe button, mkay? :D

And as always,
Peace, love, and tridents!

I personally am fine with mods entering PMC contests.  They have no say in the outcome, and while they often get more diamonds than a normal member posting the same content would, it's often just because they're good.  They became moderators for a reason, you know - they're all strictly rule-abiding members.  There's no "cheating" going on here.  I think they should be allowed to enter as normal members because they don't get to pick what happens, either. *walks away*

I totally agree with this blog. I did see a mod with a ton of votes (I will not say their name out of pure respect) and I felt like it was really unfair. Maybe instead of the mods being included in the general public, they should have either their own 'mods only' contests or they should have their own section of the contest. Or like KillerUnicorn said below, they can go under an alias. My story got tons of views, but only 3 diamonds. My friend's story (and I will admit that her's is better than mine) is great, but only has about 6 to 10 diamonds. The mods on the other hand have stories that are just as good as ours, and they were getting tons of diamonds. We need to find a comprimise here.

well, i guess it's just life as it is, diamond. i think that practicing, getting better, and getting to know the members, little by little, you will become equivalent to the mods. even if their submission is popular because they are, the contest is based on skill more. i want to know, did you get to the finalists?

It's not the fact that they're staff that they're getting diamonds, it's that their blog is good, and they have more subscribers and a higher level than you. That's like saying that nobody over the level of 50 or with over like 600 followers should be allowed to enter

Also quality over quantity. I didn't read either of your blogs but his was very concise and would keep me interested for the maybe 2 or 3 minutes it would take me to read it. However, I just kept scrolling and scrolling for more on yours and I'm worried that you had lost your reader's attention by the time they were to the middle. He also had art and cute chapter titles in his where yours was devoid of color. Just a bit of critique for your next blogs :D keep 'em interesting

It seems like several people that aren't the most well known seem to feel this way. I think this is because your submissions are worse than the mods, who have lots of experience in what they do, and you can't accept this fact. Unconsciously, in order not to admit they are more skilled than you, you complain about people liking a staff member's submission because they are staff. Yes there are some people who think this way, but most people do not as you can see. As for your own submissions, you will increasingly get better if you are willing to improve. Someday your skill will become equal to the staff and then you'll realize how skill leads to diamonds.
