This is for a free-write contest with saanita, go check her out and her story for the contest as well~

As a before note, this is a small bit of a story idea I had regarding dreams, in which the main character dreams of a different life, filled with hardships and entirely abnormal events that would never happen in reality and so he dismisses them as such, but events come to pass that leave him questioning whether his dreams are more real than his average waking-life.

Each day passes by, a single moment in time replaced by another and soon I look back on it all and wonder where that time went. Each night comes and in a blur I'm whisked away to another place, with another life looking in with an entirely different perspective.

Tonight was no different. I awoke in a bed, not my own, a pillow beneath my head, and light sheets covering my frame. My clothes were plain and simple, a single dull color, long gown beneath my covers. I feel weight on my legs, look down and see him again, a stranger to me as I know him, unconscious by my bedside. This dream is going like all the others so far, I'm startled by the noise that emanates from the doorway just a few feet from my bedside. A man in white strolls in, chart in hand eyes transfixed on it so intently he doesn't notice me or my visitor at first. "You seem to be doing rather well Simon, a few more treatments and you should be all good to go. But you really should get some sleep" he whispers in my direction.

Those words mean nothing to me.

Tiptoeing closer to my bedside he readies a needle, "This should help..."
Something tells me that something very wrong is about to happen again, like every dream that happens.
Inside me, a feeling swells when that needle gets closer. My vision blurs, my arm begins to burn before becoming numb, the pain spreads up and down my body. It jerks, my arms begin to shake on their own, I fall back into my pillow unable to control anything as he leans over me and smiles. "Go back to sleep for now, it's not time for you to wake up yet" and everything goes black...

I wake once more in a bed more familiar to me, my sheets, my clothes, my room. All these things are known, all of these things are comforting, all of these things are truly mine and yet they still feel distant somehow. I know this is not a dream, I pinch myself to be certain, feeling that twinge of pain I know I'm not dreaming and toss my covers to the side, swing my legs over and rest my feet on the white carpeted floor. Soft to the touch I steady my legs and pivot up, stretching my arms and release a long yawn. Today is another day of my summer break, nothing big planned for the day but that's fine with me. My alarm clock lies silent, it's twelve in the afternoon, according to it and I have no reason to question it. I trust my clock, it may seem strange to think someone can trust a clock or any inanimate object used for a specific purpose but it's how I view it.

"Simon, get up already and go outside!"

I'm already up, today is another day of my summer break I have nothing big planned for the day but... that's fine with me...

I have a few concept ideas worked out for chapters and the like, this was more like an excerpt to sum up what would happen on a daily basis. In my head-canon the actual story/plot begins when things start to change out of this "daily" loop.
