Spring occludes with showers a forlorn sky,
Dampening the day, darkening the night
As I respite, hoping to bid goodbye.

Dankness of green turn lately rotten rye,
Loch-imbued wings, blight, folded with slight sleight,
As spring occludes, showering a forlorn sky.

Gargoyles riven, castles rived, ramified
Throughout serpent vines that strike nought but fright,
As I respite, raring to bid goodbye.

For the day’s been long, sapped spirits, taxed eyes,
’Til little left’s seen of bright-hearted lights,
As spring precludes, show’ring mind’s morn-orned skies.

Angsty and alone, affording albite,
Pale, sick, to rightly write tales of wight wrights,
As I respite, dreading to bid goodbye

To those not wrong, but wronged and yet contrite,
Rustling remorse in this brain benighted,
By spring occluding, show’ring forlorn skies,
And at last, I bade spring showers goodbye.

Looking out the window, I composed this villanelle to the rhythmic drumming tunes of spring showers pattering outside.
